Pretty Fun. Huge map with starting tech level 3 is my go to.
I love this game, I recommend it, BUT I've found that the "Ages" mechanic can sometimes grind the game to a halt and make me not want to play. I wish there was a way to disable them, or at least turn down their effects. It's annoying when I'm finally building up some momentum and then getting hit with like an Age of Monsters and all my plans have to go on hold for multiple in game years while I fight unending monster nests.
the OG and GOAT of ship builder conquest genre.
Everyone in the reviews "omfg games great AI so gud now"
picked it up, playing the tutorial, tells me to maneuver my ship and captain will move straight but will stop before hitting something.
Immediatly slames into a fucking rock. restart
did it again... said to heck with it and let my ship be stupid cause 2 canons could hit teh target.
next mission same thing. Mission after that I attack another airship, we immediatly slam into eachother and fire canons.
great game :/
looked cool tho
Very fun + high replayability + Cool design + modding + deep immersion + small silly moments haha + decent AI + making your own ships / tanks / buildings + good sound + insanely handwritten map + awesome DLC + pleasent music + roleplay potential .
smudge my bean slushie all over monitor
10 / 10
would
:)
PLAY IT .....NOW
i love putting an ammo storage in the middle of my airship and then having it be cut in half when it explodes
Big explode. Giant man-eating spider robots. Everything is on fire. All praise the great vurm in the sky.
9/10 Fantastic game.
amazing base game, but the modding community just make it perfect
i love this game i have made many things (workshop items too) and its is very good
Conquest mode falls short due to frustratingly inadequate AI opponents, hindering what could have been a very enjoyable mix of RTS and design games. The AI feels unfinished. Opponents will often attack the player with their entire fleet, and refuse to build any defences in their own settlements. Or, the AI will quickly form an alliance with the rest of the map against the player as they are backed into a corner. This harms the replay-value.
big gun
Has great potential but the state of the current game (mostly AI) prevents it from reaching that. Would recommend if it was in early access but seeing as this is the finished state I cannot recommend.
Airship go brrrr
Super fun game to play, especially with friends!
Very in depth mechanics. Good for singleplayer, can be hilarious in multi
id recommend watching some videos on the game beforehand, much more fun after understanding the system
It's a very simple but enjoyable blend of building and designing and overall strategy and city management. Definitely worth trying, and it supports an indie dev instead of some massive company.
one of the best games i ever bought, enjoyed every hour so far, mods add soo much new content so you can never get bored. 10/10
Super fun, without giving an in depth review, this game is 100% worth it if you like management and design.
The game is excellent, with a variety of customization options for creating ships and forts, the game is worth the money. If you've played stellaris or CIV 5, or risk. This game has all those elements into one.
The game mechanics can deliver a lot of strategies to winning a game, whether it's being diplomatic or just being a straight up conquerer (very difficult BTW). Give the game a crack, like the reviews it's worth it.
Great shipbuilding, a fun little 4x-lite procedurally generated campaign map, and satisfying pixel explosions. What's not to like?
Put gun on airship, make other ship become Hindenburg. Very fun and neat strategic elements
I really like the idea, but there are way too many irritants for me to call this a success...
I get that balancing a strategy game is tough, but some of the artificial balance adjustments are bonkers. It feels like enemies don't bother with supplies, and that npc tech levels are seemingly random. heavy steel armor minutes after starting the game? sure..
it's a little barebones in places but if you're the kind of person who daydreams about what "The Best Steampunk Ship" would look like, then you might as well give this a try. the music's decent and the gameplay modes are fun. the writing is kind of cheesy but it's thematically appropriate.
all glory to the wurm
I dove into Airships Conquer the Skies just yesterday and have already logged over 8 hours of gameplay. The freedom to design and experiment with various airship styles is an absolute trip, offering a sandbox of creative possibilities. Not only can you build and customize your airial fleet, but you can also craft equally complex land ships - all the complexities of airship design without thewhole flying thing.
The campaign mode is engaging, set in a world where multiple kingdoms vie for dominance. I particularly appreciated the ability to design and build your own town defenses, adding an extra layer of strategy as you fortify your base. The tech tree further deepens the experience, ensuring that each decision in the campaign can impact your overall strategy.
On the economic front, there's room for growth. While the game currently offers a straightforward approach to city building - with towns and cities that feel somewhat uniform - a more complex economy could have taken things up a notch. For instance, a trading system would have been a fantastic addition, opening up new strategic avenues and making the world feel even more dynamic.
Overall, Airships Conquer the Skies is a solid and imaginative title that skillfully blends creative ship-building with strategic gameplay. It might benefit from a few additional layers, like a more robust economy and trading system, but it still delivers plenty of fun and innovation. I’m excited to see how it evolves in future updates!
Edit: I just discovered multiplayer, Oh boy am I in for a treat.
Great strategy/sandbox game with lots of mechanics and ways to play. Highly reccomend checking it out.
Overall - Definitely worth buying, great fun and surprising depth.
Graphics - Simple but they fit the theme. Nothing groundbreaking, but fine for the game.
Gameplay - Great fun. Skill requirement to make something viable and play the game without too much planning is not too high. Sufficiently in-depth and balanced that there is no single weapon that beats everything and there are a variety of different approaches that will work.
Length of Campaign - The "campaign" is more of a Random Map game with a variety of different enemy fleets. There are lots of options to alter the starting conditions (size, land type, monster frequency, starting tech level etc.), as well as different eras (Normal Age, Dark Age, Age of Plenty, Age of Storms, Age of Monsters, Age of Plague, Age of Madness and many more), which radically change the way the campaign plays out. With the Heroes & Villains DLC, you get City Governors and Ship Captains with a great variety of different abilities and personalities - which ones you get depend on how you play.
Multiplayer - It exists. I don't play MP personally, so I can't really comment much.
Modding - Relatively easy, relatively active modding community. Help and advice available either on Steam or Discord.
I might continue or not. I just feel very ambivalent about it. Everything is so clunky and clumsy. It is a rough game that reminds me of a low-budget very indie development team. Oh, so it is. That does not change my opinion. 40/100
This game is a hoot to be honest. I sank like 50 hours when i thought I'd get max like 15. With the workshop one can have a lot of fun.
A fun sandbox of industrial age fantasy imperialism. Once won a game using no ammo storage so there's plenty of different play styles.
Strikes the right balance between maneuvering in combat, shipbuilding, and strategy. Some systems are a bit simplistic (e.g., income buildings) and in my personal opinion there are some areas that can use some additional balancing, but in every other respect it is a very enjoyable, fast paced, relatively short strategy game, despite straddling several genres known for being very unapproachable.
I bought Airships: Conquer the skies back in December of 2018. I couldn't run it on my crappy dell laptop back then and the developer offered a refund. I denied it because I hope for the game and I'm glad I did, it's turned out to be a wonderful game to play either alone or with friends.
fun and cool
Amazing game i wish i would have bought this sooner. if you like lego you will love this u can build literally anyting. and with all the mods for this game u will have ALOT of content. worth full price no doubt. The DLC is not needed but adds some niche/balanced buffs.
Tried designing an airship. Went fine for the first 30 minutes, then suddenly, inexplicably just fucking breaks. Nothing that I clicked on the the function it was supposed to.
What a fucking disappointment.
10/10 bigger cannon better
also dont just armour the front of your ship they can shoot anywere in a ship so just armour the important stuff not jut the front as thye dont have to go through the front to shoot at your ammo
Nice concept.
A really cool and fantastic game , thanks for that, its worth every euro ! Great ! Awesome ! Fun ! What do you want more !
One of the greatest Indie games ever developed
its actually peak, forts but better
Incredible game
Based, reminds me of Minecraft in the sense that I go through two week phases every two months or so. Couldn't be happier with my purchase
Play it, im not even that big into strategy games but this shit is gas.
I love spamming out old shitty designs to rush the enemy bc the cool airship i designed for about an hour cost too much and gets fucking annihilated when its coughed on.
Airships really comes handy for building original vessels after you adjust to the interface. I haven't tried the story mode that much but I can tell that it is very nice too. Overall, I really recommend this game to RTS lovers and creative people.
Fantastic game I love building ships that function and look cool you also got to think about you ship design for the threat
I've known about Airships since I was like 8, I've always been interested in it and now that I have played it, it does not disappoint 10/10
Fun and engaging, i can sit and design an airship for an hour and try and make it look good for the next hour
