Regarding the steam version.

As long as you do the fix to be able to play the game, listed on the guides, deleting that DLL, the game works 'fine'

You can't change the resolution, but the original game also did not have that option, to 'solve' this I changed windows resolution, kinda annoying, but I remember playing this game in the 90's, on windows 95, so I really don't care.

Now, the game itself.

I don't understand, for the life of me, how can current day games have worse AI than a game that is almost THIRTY FUCKING YEARS OLD.

This game's AI works better than the majority of current day games, where the developers, either by laziness or incompetence, just do "Computer gets bonus to production" to provide challenge instead of having an actual working AI opponent.

Don't expect anything outstanding, after all, again, thirty years old game, but games like this or Call to Power 2 are masterpieces compared to some of the newer releases.

Also, for the game's price :p, come on, be serious, it's almost free

Ive played this as a kid and still enjoy it to this day ya its a underrated classic but i love it wish they would do a reboot on it

This was my afterschool favorite in the 90s.

To make it work, go to install folder, delete the WAIL32.dll, and run the executable with Win 8 compatability.

Pure nostalgia. Similar to Alpha Centauri, but slightly more city building. Still in the 4X camp, since there are multiple cities in tech and military conflict, but there is a bit of geometric optimization in the 3 to 10 cities you are managing.

the feeling of winning this game is extream

Sadly, I have been able to play this game only on one of my two computers, and then without the very enjoyable background music, which has refused to play on any modern system I've tried to play any version of this game on since about 2010. A tragic but probably unavoidable consequence of trying to return to a game this old. Still, even playing in eerie silence (there are also no sound effects, in or out of combat, with the only sound that plays at all being the little chat video clips of the alien mouthpieces), this early RTS is still very enjoyable to those of us with a nostalgic attachment to it; there may be better games, but this one's unique charm has never been duplicated.
