Описание

Red-haired adventurer extraordinaire Adol Christin has finally reunited with his best pal, Dogi, and is eager to set sail for new adventures in Afroca. It seems fate has other plans for him, however, as a pirate captain named Ladoc makes him an offer he simply can't refuse: a chance to explore a dangerous, uncharted archipelago in the Atlas Ocean that may hold treasures of heretofore unseen value.

Never ones to back away from a good mystery, Adol and Dogi both agree to join Ladoc on this expedition aboard his ship, the “Tres Mares” -- but no sooner does it weigh anchor than the Romuns, their sights set on the same curious islands of Canaan, attack the wayward pirates and ultimately knock Adol overboard, leaving him for dead.

Some time later, he washes ashore in Canaan itself, alive but weakened, rescued and resuscitated by two young girls named Isha and Olha who sport long ears and bushy tails. They are of the native “Rehda” tribe, and it seems Adol is not the first human to arrive here -- nor are humans particularly welcome...

Great classic game. It can get grindy in some parts. Although near the end I got overgeard because of that and blast past the last 3 bosses. The only thing I don't like in this game is definitely the dash jump. To be fair you don't have to do it to progress the story, but there are gear that you can only get by dash jumping which makes the game easier. Anyways in my case dash jump is difficult to do with a controller, had to switch to a keyboard, but even then the timing is a bit too strict for my liking.
Overall the things I didn't like that much can be attributed to older game and level design but I'd say I still really like the game at the end.

If you liked Oath in Felghana, you'll enjoy this. If you enjoyed this, you'll like Oath in Felghana. I can't decide which is better, but they're both short and sweet RPGs that are similar yet distinct.

The combat szstem is defently lacking in many ways. Since the game is rather short this wasnt a problem.
This was a fun little adventure.

Fantastic ARPG from the 2000s! Played it on PS2 first, played it many more times since - it would run flawlessly at 60fps with everything cranked on a 2011 laptop that had some lower end (but better than integrated) mobile nVidia GPU, can't remember the details now except that nVidia Optimus sucked haha. But man I had fun playing it again and I've had fun playing it every time I've tried since. Game design was really on point in those days and I just feel it reflects a great sensibility of how to put together a fun, swashbuckling action-adventure game with some RPG elements. Oath in Felghana is great too, and so is Ys Origins, all on the same engine. What a killer time for the Ys franchise, but, then, it has been killer ever since too. Ys games are awesome!

The game was very quite but it did not play well on my PC - It may be just me but I kept getting the mouse lost outside of the active area of the game screen and then if you clicked it the game would collapse and hide itself. I also found the combat clunky - it is definitely a console game that I don't think was adapted well to the key board.

The Setting is at the Island of Canaan
washed ashore at the beginning.. ofc.

you got 3 elemental swords made from Emel Material that also key items since
your main sword sucks and it broke in half.
no magic to spam or charge here but instead you need to fill the magic gauge by killing (or upgrading your weapon for auto gain) to use it.
you cant Dash and your default speed is all you have. no Double jump but instead you got a Dash Jump which is sucks at first. get used to it but good news is its optional to use it. ( I H A TE D A S H J U M P)
you cant upgrade your Armor and shield.
you can get up to 5 accessory slot throughout the game.
Old Man Raba is back.. (the old man that you saved at Darm Tower).. he keeps reminiscing the time hes at Esteria.
your Bestfriend Dogi is also here.
Bosses here is much better to fight. but still challenging enough.
they even add Side Bosses just for extra Accessories rewards.

its a great game~ 😇
tho
I HATE RUINS OF LOST TIME!
I HATE DASH JUMP! even tho i learned how to do it later on but still I HATE IT!
more importantly
I CANT MEASURE ISH- OLHA's SIZE!. WHY?!

This is one of the most infuriating, stupid, badly executed games I've ever played. There's not much depth to the gameplay, jank hitboxes, un-telegraphed boss attacks and downright unfair minibosses. But even with those stupid idiotic parts to the game, the core gameplay is Napishtim Engine gameplay; so it's fun. Plus, the joy of destroying some stupid, idiotic, unfair boss is just too great. Especially when you're doing it with some of the best Nihon Falcom battle music ever created.

I'd say, play this if you've played Ys Origin, and Ys Oath in Felghana

This was my very first Ys game after being a huge fan of ARPG's for most of my life, and it did not disappoint.

Ys VI is a unique and charming, yet flawed game. It has some mechanics that feel very clunky (namely the dash jump) and some of the hitboxes can feel a little janky at first, but once you get into it and get a feel for it, you are in for an extremely fun adventure.

I will definitely be checking out the other games in the series, this one rocked. 8/10

So right away, this game apparently came out before Oath in Felghana and Origin, which may explain how this game feels like things from the last game were missing here. The game's a bit on the short side, mostly considering it only took me 3 days to beat it. It is a bit on the grindier side, though, especially if you're aiming to max out the three swords you get. It's not a totally bad thing since there are places where the enemies give a lot of experience and aren't too awful to handle, but this wouldn't have been the first time in a Ys game I've had to run back and forth through rooms to farm materials and slay enemies to get more levels.

The story is...honestly pretty light. I do like the callbacks to Esteria and Celceta from the character who returns from Ys 1, but if I had to give my thoughts on the main story, I'd say "it exists." Honestly, I'd say the antagonist is the weakest part of the game, and that was a similar complaint I had with Celceta, but here it's even worse. We don't even see the main antagonist until the last couple of hours of the game.

I do like how healing items were a thing in this game, though. None of the bosses (besides that stone head guy with the arms) were really all that offensive, but having the heals as a buffer to save yourself if you get slapped around was useful. One mechanic, however, that I didn't like whatsoever, and this apparently seems to be a common opinion, is the dash jump. I swear, for the life of me, I could never intentionally pull this off successfully, to the point I had to use the script guide to make my life easier. You don't even use the dash jump for anything mandatory, so why even put it in the menu for actions?

Overall, this game was alright. Between this game, Felghana, and Origin, I'd still say I liked Felghana's story but Origin's gameplay more (besides the 3 playthroughs). It's not that this game is bad, it's more that the other two are more refined than this one.

[It's more of a half thumbs up/down] The storyline is a bit on the weaker side, the motivation of the antagonists is just plain stupid. The gameplay is fine but I hate the dash-jumping parts, which is probably why Falcom gave you double jump in Ys Oath; it's not mandatory to be able to dash-jump to progress the game which is the only good part, but if you want to collect every chest or get to that special miniboss you have to be able to dash-jump. So ya, a IGN/10, 7.8, 7.8 dash-jumping.

This is a solid entry of Ys, but far from my favorite. From the 2.5D Ys games, this ranks second. It does not have the issues of Ys Oath in Felghana (way too long distances between save points, a story that could have been made way easier or even solved by the oh-so-wise Big Good from the start) but it obviously lacks the refinement of Ys Origin.

My main issue is that It forces you to grind levels way too often, you often encounter enemies that you do zero damage to until you level up some. The problem is that they're often not dangerous enemies - sure they do a lot of damage to you, but if you're careful, it's not too hard to avoid damage from normal mobs. As soon as you can do damage to them, you can use one or two of them to quickly level up several times by defeating them, leaving the screen, returning, rinse repeat. It feels silly easily defeating and farming level ups from an enemy that, 5 minutes before, you couldn't damage at all.
Other 2.5D ys games have that issue as well, but way less grating. I guess the enemies there have more health but less defense.

The item that lets you regain health while standing still, a staple of the Ys franchise, is only gotten by an optional side quest right before the end of the game. It should really have been a mid-game-item.

The bosses weren't the worst, but also not the best. Way too many bosses only have hitboxes in the air, and jump attacking is cumbersome. Not the worst thing but annoying.

It also has a very hard to execute movement mechanic, the dash jump. You never really need it save for extra content in one area, but it's still prominent in the option menu. As a tip.. use the d-pad, orient yourself where you wanna jump. Let go of the buttons. Hit the direction again just for a bit, let go, wait half a second, then press and hold attack, then jump. That's the only way I got it to work in like half the attempts.

All in all, if you're new to Ys, do not take this one to pop your cherry, but it's not a bad game

It's an action-adventure RPG worth playing.

Starts out great, with wonderful music and visuals. Some neat animated cutscenes here and there.

The first time you load it, you'll want to choose the config option and set your button inputs (I played with an Xbox controller). Set them even if they look right, because some buttons still won't function. Then choose to save it before closing it out.

For an RPG adventure the game is quite short. Its world is on a very small scale. I think there may have been 10-12 areas or so in total? This feels very sparse compared with other well known RPG's and it prevents the game from being as grandiose as it otherwise aspires to be. My playtime was certainly inflated by playing on Hard mode and spending some hours grinding XP.

That said, as a shorter adventure, it was great. Not quite as polished as Ys Origin though. In Napishtim I ended up having to read a walkthrough and watch a youtube video to find out how to Dash Jump, which is an unexplained and wonky technique (and best done with a D-pad). It's not a mandatory technique, but the alternative is to have to make multiple pixel perfect jumps in some places that can be very frustrating to deal with.

There were a few times where I had to talk to NPCs to progress the story. Rather than talking to every person until the next step of the story triggered for me, I'd tab out to a walkthrough so I could cut to the chase. There were a few optional quests, like returning 4 little piggies to their owner. These piggies got lost halfway through the game and I wasn't going to revisit every single screen of the game to look for them.. so again, a walkthrough seemed like the most reasonable course of action.

The game sometimes lets you wander into places with enemies that will 1 shot you, which I liked. Sometimes I'd sneak in and manage to stunlock-kill one enemy by hitting it for 1 point of damage 100 times or I'd run by something nasty to find a treasure chest (containing expendable junk). I like when games give you a bit of freedom in this way. You know that you're not supposed to be here, so any small gain like that feels like a minor sneaky triumph. I like seeing things that you come back to later, it keeps the mind entertained and wondering.

Having found Ys Origin a little bit easy on Normal, I chose Hard this time with Napishtim. I'm not sure if it was the right choice or not.. perhaps it just led to me grinding XP now and then, and gatekeeper'd me out of the late game super tough optional boss. There was too much of a repetitive XP grind required to raise my STR stat to reasonably face him. ..I even put in a couple of hours of grinding for it until I realised I would be here literally all day killing the same 5 blobs and eventually nope'd out of it.

I found myself grinding XP whenever I first entered a dungeon too, because enemies can kill you quite easily. Grinding XP in this way felt like the path of least resistance because what would typically happen if I didn't do this, was I'd clear the same 2-8 rooms of a dungeon, Die.. and lose all of that progress. This cycle would keep repeating, so it was much less frustrating to just grind that XP at the start each time to raise my characters attack and defense to make everything more manageable.

Grinding XP was not something I did in Ys Origin ever when playing it on Normal, so perhaps that's all that Hard difficulty changes about these Ys games? Who knows, this is just my speculation at this time.

I actually didn't mind a bit of grinding for once, so I'm not really complaining outside of that optional late game boss that I missed out on.

As for Ys games, I've determined that I hate the archaic bump style of combat in Ys 1-4, but I really enjoy what the series evolved into (starting with Ys V) and will probably continue to play every other one of these games (though I think the most recent Ys games changed up their combat system again, so will have to see how I find that to be).

So far the Ys games from the Napishtim and Origin era have proven to be a really good time. They appear to be repeating the same item progressions in each game, where you get a fire, electric and wind sword that appear to do the same attacks (with minor variations and improvements to them in different games) ..this is something I'd like them to mix up and experiment with more. But otherwise, these games all have great tunes, locations to explore, items to collect, decent enough writing and good visuals, a great era for the series.

Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim is the first attempt in the series to create narrative ties between the previous games but that’s not the only reason why it’s best fit for fans of the franchise

Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim, originally released in 2003, is the sixth game in the series to play if you’re following the DigitalEmelas story path and the first Ys game to introduce the subsequently named “Napishtim” combat style that went on to serve as the basis for later titles like Ys Origin and Ys III: The Oath in Felghana. It’s also the first game in the series that attempts to create a larger narrative by directly referencing the events that took place in the previous games.

While DigitalEmelas calls it the “Avengers” of the Ys series, saying new players “would be less immersed compared to someone who had invested the time learning the origins of each character”, I personally wouldn’t go that far despite agreeing with the basic idea: Even with the increased focus on storytelling, Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim is still an Ys game and thus mostly gameplay-oriented, so don’t expect lengthy dialogues and/or cutscenes on the level of a Trails game for example. It should also be noted that the game has notable ties to Ys V, which never even made it’s way to the west. Overall speaking, while the direct references are certainly going to be appreciated by players familiar with the previous games, they just aren’t big enough to make Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim non-recommendable for new players of the franchise for this reason alone.

The main reason why I wouldn’t recommend Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim to newcomers but to fans of the franchise instead boils down to the fact that there are simply even better games in the series to play and/or start out with. While Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim is an enjoyable, straightforward action-RPG with little filler that’s well worth playing, it’s also notably rougher around the edges than other Ys games. The “Napishtim” combat in it’s first iteration is one of the main contributors here: While snappy and easy to pick it up, it’s also more simple than other Ys titles, offering only a few ways to attack and no way to block/parry attacks other than evading them through jumping or running away. Additionally, it also includes what’s probably the most infuriating form of a long jump I ever had to perform in action-RPG. Even though the long jump is technically optional since it’s only needed for a few extra chests that aren’t required for finishing the game, the items in these chests can be incredibly useful – like an accessory that decreases the charging time for powerful magic attacks.

Speaking of combat, Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim is also another Ys title that can be a bit grindy at times: Basically requiring you to reach at least a certain level if you want to properly damage a boss but not telling you what level that is, something I already criticised during my playthroughs of previous titles in the franchise. However, Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim goes even further when it comes to beating one of the optional bosses in the game – as even on normal difficulty, you’ll have to spend an absurd amount of time grinding if you even want to damage the boss at all. As such, I once again recommended using a guide such as this GameFaq one if you want to make sure you’re staying in the recommended level ranges.

And as for the story, well, it shouldn't be surprising that it's a pretty standard affair and only really serves as a way to guide you to the various boss fights and environments. As mentioned, besides the ties to previous games in the series, the dialogues are short and the main plot points pretty predictable. While the increased focus on storytelling it's noticeable, Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim is all about getting you back to playing the game as soon as possible, only taking control away from you in select key moments. Same as with the previous titles in the series, you should play these games for their action-RPG gameplay and not for their story, otherwise you're going to end up disappointed.

Overall, Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim is a decent Ys game that offers all one would expect from the franchise – little to no filler, a big focus on gameplay, interesting boss fights and a great soundtrack – but I also didn’t find it to be particularly memorable apart from my frustrations with the long jump. It’s enjoyable and it’s definitely a decent action-RPG but it’s also not much more than that, as it doesn’t feature any standout mechanics, environments or story moments. As such, I would mainly recommend it to fans of the franchise who just want to play another Ys game. It’s also great to play on the SteamDeck, as it’s not too long and runs flawless out of the box - just remember to adjust the resolution in the configuration tool first. But due to the lack of actually amazing moments, I wouldn’t recommend it to newcomers of the franchise or those looking for a truly groundbreaking/outstanding action-RPG - Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim is far from bad but simply lacking “something a little extra” to reach that level.

I’ve played the pS2 version, this version, and yes I’d recommend the game to anyone who wants a great story, fun characters, and decent music. The ps2 version I remember being voiced and having an extra dungeon, something that I didn’t see here.

On a side note, for those who get stuck in limestone cave area, you need the silent bell found in the plains area above Remorge.

I enjoyed this JRPG classic immensely. Even in 2024, it's quite a good experience. There is some extensive end game grinding involved in order to complete the achievement for an end-game optional boss, but if you don't care about that then there is nothing whatsoever to complain about - the combat is snappy and fun, the graphics are gorgeous, and the exploration is excellent.

I only have one complaint about this game, and that is that the steam version doesn't have best girl Crevia from the PS2 version. I miss Guardian Trials wife.
