Suddenly her favorite Dream catcher disappears, and Laura falls asleep during her concert. The doctors shrug their shoulders - she fell into a liturgical dream, and in spite of all their efforts she’s not coming back to life. There it was the Professor Sanders offered his services.
We play for an Professor’s Assistant - volunteer, who offered himself to participate in the experiment, and bring Laura back to life.
With help of Professor’s invention - “the Dreams Machine” - the player will have to make the dangerous journey through the subconsciousness of Laura, find her, and try to get to wake up getting to know about the reasons why she fell into a coma.
Destroying Laura’s nightmares one after another, the player realizes that Laura guides him to her, leaving the pages from her diary and tips. Laura becomes stronger with every destroyed nightmare - it is seen by the fact that scary world transformes little by little.
Gradually, the player learns about the Sandman, the Dream Guardians, and the fact that Laura is chosen, the world was waiting her appearance for many years.
Having collected all Dream catcher, Laura plans to destroy the Sandman, and to interrupt the dreaded rite.
Now when Laura got her Dream catcher, the Sandman has no control over her, but he is furious and promises to revenge. And his next victim – Tim – the best friend of Laura. To be continued.

The game was good but just do not compare it to Neil Gaiman's Sandman
Benny was the star of this game. Overall a great point and click adventure with some different puzzles than I am use in in HOG-like games. The graphical design of the game is nostalgic feeling and the voice acting is fun. Enjoyed finding those creepy eyeball bugs too. Looking forward to the next game. Tim is a nerd.
Sadly, this game is unplayable on windows 10. It crashes before even getting through the intro video, EVERY TIME. There is a post in the discussions about a work around for "setting affinity" in windows, which is a non-existent thing in windows 10. I wish I could give this game a proper review, but it isn't even playable. At this point I would say, do not waste your money. Sadly, as this game is so old, I don't think it will ever be fixed.
I enjoyed the story line a lot as it kept me interested in the game. Some of the mini-games were quite different from the ordinary "run of the mill" that are seen in other HOGS, I personally liked that. There are all the usual things, hint, strategy guide etc. I am happy that I have this game in my library. I am yet to play the bonus chapter and I expect it to be just as good as the main story as it picks up where the main story left off (big tick from me as I prefer that the story flows on.) For all those people that get annoyed with the voice not matching the avatar on screen be warned that these characters are out of sync. Thank you to all involved in creating this game and giving me a few hours of enjoyment. I look forward to playing the bonus chapter.

This is a really beautiful and easy hidden object game. The story is really nice and the puzzles are easy to complete. Unfortunately the game does not have achievements, but it is still fun to play.
A decent enough game with what were probably really good graphics for when it was produced. There was a variety of puzzles, and I was able to get through most of them without much difficulty. The marble-string game was the only one I skipped because it was annoying me, and my game glitched on the planet game so I had to shut down and restart the game (couldn't interact with anything on screen) but it worked fine after I restarted.
I gotta say, this game has some creepy images. Like not utterly scary, but for some people it might be. Especially if you have a problem with clowns and creepy looking men with dark eyes. I don't mean the sexi demon ones... Like the REALLY creepy ones. Anyway, this game is all about dreams... Duh. And the Sandman is a bad (I wanna say guy, but I can't now can I?) being. There.
Also, if you have fear of death and can't disconnect yourself from this game... You *might* have a problem. I am not saying this to scare you away... I AM WARNING those who actually have real problems with these things...
I played all sorts of H.O.G... And this one looks older, but in all honesty I really wanted to continue playing because of the story. There is something about it... H.O.G.s are known for having severe plot holes (not all), and this one actually covers almost all basis.
Benny and other... Beings are all cute... And creepy... They also bite. I like the other animals and animal-like figures. Wasn't a fan of the elevator, but that's because I got confused. OH! That's another thing! You NEVER get lost in this game! Because you do dreams by parts.
Here is what I wished I knew:
- There are those eyeball things... So you can actually tell how many are in the area by the arrow that's on the left. It brings out a popup sliding thingy and shows you... If none: there is none or you got them all!
- If you got achievements and go to said page and see NOTHING UNLOCKED? Don't panic! Click that arrow on the left! You can then "stick the gremlins" in the right spots!
- Death by decapitation scene... I have no idea if you have a time limit or not... I mean I still won... But it makes you rush like REALLY HARD. That's not a dirty joke... When you see it, you'll know.
Everything was pretty fun... The eyeballs and other things were still creepy, but I got past it! I also figured out who you play as... But I don't know if I was right or not... Guess I gotta play the follow-up game.

This isn't a HIdden Object game, strictly speaking, as there are no specific hidden object scenes (word list or otherwise). On the other hand, there is lots of looking for objects and figuring out how to use them, and quite a few puzzles. The best description would be "casual adventure and puzzle game".
It's well done, in my opinion, with lots of game play. If you enjoy casual games with some story and cinematics, and puzzles to keep you engaged, then this game is for you. The bonus chapter is also quite good (although more limited in scope, of course). Get it on sale, since it's a little dated in terms of wide-screen capabilities and graphics. I have no hesitation recommending it.
Recommend on sale due to its brevity.

this is an better than average adventure game. despite the fact that there are no hog scenes i m still recommended!
I recently purchased this as it was on sale (I already have this via Big Fish games) & I discovered it was the premium version with wallpapers, screensavers, artwork, strategy guide & music (the one I’d purchased from BFG is just the standard version with no premium version available from them).
The mouth movement is out of sync but this no doubt is down to the characters ‘speaking’ a different language to English so will appear strange.
I’ve only had one crash where several lines of text appeared on a transparent background, I closed the game & reopend & I haven’t seen this since.
I love finding & collecting the ‘eyes’ & I always miss at least one.
A map would’ve been a welcome addition.
Currently the game is on sale for .99p so is worth a try.

This is not your traditional HOG as there are no actual HOG scenes, but the game still has plenty to offer.
Firstly it's a Point'n'Click based game, with a decent musical score/graphics & not too difficult puzzles.
Storyline is above-average fare and progression is achievable without Hints/Walkthrough's. Expect around 3 hours playtime.
Not entirely bug-free, I did experience it crashing (only once) and other than that, just a few poor translations.
To be honest, I enjoyed the quick-fix it gave, I got the product on sale (bonus) and I roughly rate it a 7/10.
Shame there is no achievements/cards though but that is a personal preference.
This game seems like it would be fun if it didn't crash almost constantly. In my half hour of playing it crashed over a dozen times. At the main menu, in scenes, in cut scenes. It doesn't seem to matter what's happening in the game, it just crashes over and over. I'm going to be getting a refund as it's completely unplayable.

I want to mention that the visuals in the game are well done. The visuals can be adjusted in the game's option menu.
Game Audio
I want to mention that audio for the game is well done. Even though the audio is somewhat simplistic and repetitive. The audio can be adjusted in the game's option menu as well.
Gameplay
There are two different game difficulty modes to choose from: Regular and Expert.
The notebook keeps track of progression in the game. Such as story events and clues.
There is a padlock feature that is available to lock the inventory panel in place to make it stationary.
The hidden object scenes consist of the following: Traditional word lists. Some of these hidden object scenes may require a little or no interaction.
The puzzles are fairly easy to solve without having the need to skip any of them.
There are two sets of collectibles in the game: Eye Creatures and Diary Pages. They're scattered throughout the game for the player to find.
There are thirteen different achievements that can be unlocked from playing the game. Each of these achievements does come with some requirements that need to be completed before they can be unlocked. These achievements are in-game only.
There is a bonus chapter in the game. But it can be accessed only after the main story is completed.
Miscellaneous
There are extra features in the game: Bonus Chapter; Soundtracks; Concept Art; Wallpapers; Screensavers and Game's Strategy Guide. Most of these extra features can be accessed only after the entire game is completed.
Final thoughts: I have found the game enjoyable to a certain extent. The replay value for the game is low. I would recommend this game, but not at the game's full price value.
This game would be great if it stopped crashing. Playing in windowed mode helps a little bit but I am still having a problem. I was able to get through 2/3 of the game with much frustration with crashing. Once I was on the final nightmare and the game crashed and I tried to re-open it, it said my profile was corrupted and was therefore deleted. So being the determined person that I am I started over only for the crashing to become worse and I finally had to give up. If this game didn't have technical issues it would be great but unfortunately it just isn't playable.
Laura is in a deep sleep and you're the only one that can help her to defeat the Sandman. Her dreamcatcher is scattered around dreams she's making, however, in each of them, she's in danger of death...
The story is well done: while the beginning of the story is set in our real world, the rest is in Laura's head and dreams: you'll learn more about her destiny and her past. It means that you'll be visiting different locations: fairy world, Laura's home, desert, iced lake, attraction park, church... Each time, you'll meet a Laura in need but also Benny, a creature that knows more than you can think.
The game is a casual adventure game: you find items, you use them to advance and you're solving puzzles. There is no hidden object scene in this one. However, there is a nice bonus: find beholders, strange creatures, in the scenes. They're often well-hidden. But these beholders are just there for in-game achievements.
The soundtrack is very nice and the graphics are pretty good, given all the locations you're visiting.
However, there is a breaking game bug. The game is crashing every two minutes more or less (though I've crashed less on Win7 than on Win8). I don't know why it's like that but it's crashing. My first playthrough ended up in a corrupted file, so that you can't do anything about it. I wanted to try the workaround of setting the CPU infinity to 0 or 1 but back then, I didn't find it how.
I was very sad to put a thumb down to a game that had a great potential. And then, I decided to resinstall it and to find finally if the workaround was working. I managed to find how to access the affinity settings and I did what I was told to do.
And it worked like as charm. No more crashes. No more corrupted files. I could finally enjoyed the game! It means that I had to rewrite the previous review.
It's just sad to see that there is no patch for that problem. I know that some "old" games can be a problem, however, Dreamscapes isn't that old: it's on Big Fish since 2013 and 2014 on Steam. Gamezebo reviewed it in 2013 and they're rarely reviewing old games.
Anyway, now that I've been blessed to have this workaround working, I can recommend the game, though not at full price. You may never know if it will work for you. At least, for me, on Win8.1, it worked.
I was not thinking someone can make HOG game same as Artifex Mundi or maybe even better. This game is great: very good video, picture and sound, but it doesn't have hidden object scenes, you playing it like a point and click quest. And i can give it 9/10 stars.
This game resembles a hidden object game in many ways:
* you have no avatar (nobody you can control in the game)
* to progress you need to solve puzzles and collect objects (but don't really do object puzzles)
* mostly linear
* no dialogue scenes (which I would expect in a true point & click)
* story & plot mildly interesting, but lack substance
However, there are no traditional hidden object scenes with the slate of objects you have to click on, so technically it is no hidden object game. Still, people who like that genre are likely to enjoy this game, while point&click adventure fans are likely to be disappointed.
The game took me 5 hours (and besides missing 2 beholders in the main game, I got all of the in-game achievements). Note that the resolution seems fixed at 1024x768. Once installed, the game is DRM-free.
The story is creative. You play a volunteer who helps a scientist wake a girl that fell in a unexplainable coma.
The scientist built a dream machine to send your mental into the girls dreams. So you basicly run around a girls dreams and nightmares to save here life.
The graphics are very beautiful! Very intuitive and fluid game play!
I recommend this game to everyone who loves point&click puzzle games.
The game started off fine. I like adventure games, and while this type of "adventure game" isn't what say Gabriel Knight or QFG was, it's still fun especially when I have nothing else to play. It's also luckily not a hidden object game, disguised as an adventure game. It looks good and has a good atmosphere, and so far I was digging it as much as the Drawn series. I kept having these crash to desktops with a pop up dialog box saying "error in gc" (which, given it's made in Unity means a garbage collection issue). Minor inconvenience which I readily ignored as restarting put me right back where it left off. However, I got to a point halfway through the game where I was reading a diary I uncovered from a locked safe (won't spoil it, but it's in the place soon after you get the 1/2 way done achievement) and it crashed while reading the first page. Restarted, put me right back at the first page so I thought whatever, no big deal. Got 2 more pages in and it crashed again. Restarted and on the main menu it told me my profile was corrupt and it was DELETED. So all progress completely wiped and now I would have to start all over again. Which I'm not doing because how do I know I'm not just going to run into a similar bug at some other point.
