Age of Mythology: Extended Edition

This game is the most faithful remaster of Age of Mythology, and preserves the original experience, unlike Retold which is more like a slight remix on some of the mechanics and general UI.

The China expansion is a bit weak, its more like a well done mod, but still a nice touch to have some new original content.

This classic is always a good game to return to for a rematch of either the storyline, or against the community, and or AI.

Fairly accurate for those big into mythology, plenty of creatures for monster lovers! Years later and I still enjoy this game!

all done with age of empires\mythology. by now they should have the bugs worked out. constant crashes on all the games. 2 is the best for reliability.

I have been playing this game for most of my life and it never gets old! The modding community is great too!

For me, this is the best version of AoM , better than Retold. Pure old good rts game without any yearly event, without any overbright effect and lighting, and it's faithful to the original one without changing too much of both the graphics and gameplay.

Pure nostalgia. Gameplay as it was back then, compatible with modern PCs

I put hundreds of hours into this game as a kid, so I was excited to get it on Steam and play it again a bit. It is a little clunky compared to more modern RTS's, but I still love it. The god powers are fun and the mythical creatures add some variety.

Classic game that never gets old. Always new combinations to challenge your resourcefulness.

Very happy as a child growing up to playing this game, until now i play it and i will continue until my children soon

This is such a fun classic game in the style of Age of Empires, but with a fantasy twist. The campaigns are especially fun! I've been playing this game for almost 20 years and I still find fun new ways to play.

Fun, but nothing beats AoE 2. Mods are good with the lord of the rings and star wars mods. Pick up on sale. I think they remastered this as well.

It is Age of Mythology released for the second or third time. If you liked the original, this is the original except with Chinese that nobody likes.

This is a fun game. Especially if you like strategy games that you take control of troops.

Don't buy, retold seems to be doing a lot better. I loved classic age of mythology but extended edition wasn't really it.

The game offers scenarios, maps and civilisations which accommodate many different styles of play.

This game is amazing and gives you a real life feel of good ole game play

Great game, same gameplay as Age of Empires but with a mythology theme.

One thing I want to warn people about though, these old school PC games with the low render sprite graphics. It was meant to be played on small box PC monitors back in the day. Not big screen digital monitors or TVs. My eyes started to bleed after prolonged play time and I didn't understand why at first then I remembered the same thing happened when I was playing Zoo Tycoon on the big screen. Even though you don't notice it your eyes have trouble adjusting and it causes them to strain. When this happens the capillaries in your eyes burst and your eyes get red and start to hurt. To avoid this only play it in short bursts of an hour or less. Just do a mission then exit the game for a little while and give your eyes time to rest.

All time favorite game; still love it!

Childhood—that's the right word to describe it. I enjoyed the game as a kid, as a teenager, and now as an adult. The game is timeless, with the brilliant idea of incorporating mythology into the strategy genre (one of the first game). This game is a must-buy if you like strategy games.

A cult classic, sometimes i prefer this over aoe 2, its almost as good!

This is an absolute classic. Art and soul was poured into this game by everyone involved. Do not purchase the new "Retold" edition, this will give you significantly more happiness and joy, to see how things used to be back in the day.

The graphics have been revamped too.

Age of Mythology has endured the ages. Released over two decades ago, this game is still challenging and a joy to play. Highly recommended.

Appealed to me because of mythology, and I've even enjoyed some RTS like games but maybe they were all lighter then this. It'll stick with Titan Quest for that fix.

There is the new enhanced version (which is also getting new DLC it seems, getting a very frustrating trend in gaming, all these games releasing 90% the same content for a shiny paint job but then adding new stuff so its buy that or be stuck with an incomplete version), which weirdly seems cheaper then the base price on this (only by 50p but still), so I guess if you want it you may as well look at that version.

Better quality than the original edition with the picture, animation, building cities and and unlimited selection of army units?

Nostalgia, when I was in college I used to play this every day with my roommate, I really enjoyed this, still enjoy the multiplayer mode.

I’m loving the new graphics, gameplay has improved so much! The god powers can be used multiple time, just the faith required increases after each use, I’m so grateful for that. I’ve replayed the original so many times over the years, it’s nice to see they have given it new life. Honestly, I hope they release more DLC for this.

With the mythology retold, I'm pretty sure they made it to where this game doesn't work anymore. The recent update caused this game to stop working. Now no one can play it unless someone is nice enough to fix it. L Microsoft. I used play this game alot, but then the idiots did something to it to force you to buy MYTHOLOGY RETOLD. Costs a lot, like what the hell man I already bought this game, I prefer the freaking classic music and the graphics compared to the shitty new one.

I've played this game when I was younger and it still holds up. I love how some chapters can be a little challenging and make you think how to use your resources.

This game just keeps giving, the original campaign is so good, i've played it multiple times. i love the myth units, they just make everything so fun and flavorful. you really feel like you're playing distinct races in this game, more like Starcraft than age of empires in that way (which i like). I could see some people not liking the autobuild functionality but to be honest it makes this game a lot easier to get into if you're new and sometimes it's nice to not have to constantly engage with building villagers while you're enjoying the huge battles! also huge points for the map editor, there's a lot of fun you can have building your own maps and campaigns if you're willing to learn the system

My favorie Age. AGE OF MYTHOLOGY. In all its glory! SO GRATEFUL FOR AGE OF EMPIRES.

Definitely my favourite of all the "Age of" series.

It's probably not worth the full price now that the "remake" has been released (even though it doesn't include everything here) and it's also not very nice being constantly reminded that your version is now "given up on."

Still, if this does go on sale (significantly), consider it.

Brings back memories from years ago when you could play any of the gods from all pantheons. I recommend this and the new version a try.

They ruined the game. It's nearly impossible to win a game unless its on easy. I've played this game for several years, they decided to give the NPC infinite resources even on "moderate". No longer even playable. No matter what you do you will not be able to produce resources as fast as the NPC player, completely destroyed the game. Don't waste your money or time, game has been rendered nearly unplayable.

Age of Mythology has always been a nice way to turn off your brains and just massacre the enemies' villages.
Made me pretty happy to have found it on steam, when you've only had the CD-ROM for it :)

I don't really care about the new packages you can purchase, or the updates whatsoever. I'm happy the old game is available to play! One of the best strategy games ever - better than Age of Empires, in my honest opinion.
