Released in 2014, realMyst: Masterpiece Edition was one of the first versions of Myst to offer real-time 3D graphics, making it possible to freely roam around the world. This version features the addition of changing weather, day-night cycles, and minor additions to better fit the larger story line of the series. In addition, this version of Myst offers a “bonus” age to act as an epilogue and bridge to Myst’s sequel, Riven.
This is realMyst: Masterpiece Edition, a tale of intrigue and injustice that defies the boundaries of space and time, with 3D movement and dynamic environments. Every scrap of paper and ambient sound may provide vital clues to your investigation of this enigmatic island. Each discovery you make, every puzzle you solve, will bring you closer to reversing a wrong that has gone unchecked for ages.

Still the best puzzle game ever. Try not to look at guides or walkthroughs to ensure maximum enjoyment of this game.
The only better way to play Myst is in VR.
This is an absolute classic. While far from the immersive First-Person games we're getting now, this game needs to be mentioned as it laid down the foundation for many of the things we take for granted now.
All in all this is a Myst remake that came out in 2000 rebuilt in Unity in 2014 and it plays exactly like that. However for many of us this (either the original 2000 remake or the 2014 Unity "port") was pretty much our first exposure to Myst and it could serve as an argument (along with the 2001 Resident Evil remake for the Gamecube) that remaking games is not an inherently bad thing as it not only allows the developers to present a vision of their game that takes advantage of numerous "modern" advancements that were not available when they originally developed and released it but it also re-introduces that game to an audience that otherwise wouldn't have been exposed to it.
I last played this 30 years ago, and I got stuck on the clock puzzle back then, too.
But, more seriously: it's Myst. It's always been defined by its beautiful setting and air of mystery. It's a must-play for any fans of adventure games. The updated navigation controls are a bit clunky, but they didn't stop me from playing the game.
Iconic, still amazing
A great, classic game rendered in 3D for the first time! However, now that there's a full remake, I'd recommend playing that one instead.
I've discovered "Myst" through themes from the very cool same named minecraft mod.
And recognized it only after few hours of playing this modern classic.
This version with full on first person view feels amazing for a game like this.
This, I think, wouldn't work out in "The Room" game series, which are amazing in its own way btw, because obviously the scope differs immensely.
Situations are similar, but escape rooms genre never felt so adventurous and retro as in Myst!
A classic. A must-play.
Game made me feel both insane and like the smartest person in the world, 11/10 IGN
I liked the game. It's indeed a great classic that inspired games such as Outer Wilds. I love the lack of hand holding. I truly believe games should at least have a setting for hand holding. It can be very frustrating for some, that's understandable, I was in many instances in my playthrough, but for people who likes not having them, there should be an option. This game really encourages the player to explore, experiment, and be curious. I love it.
However, it's hard for me to overlook the issue with audio and the lack of subtitles. I know a big part of this issue is a me issue. For some reason, my brain is slow and has a hard time translating sounds to words 😅 And that was tested a lot in this game especially early on. And after searching a bit, I'm not alone with this issue. The background music not automatically turning down while a clip is being played is so bad. And there's even no option to turn down the music manually. I feel like no one playtested this 😄 To be fair, it got better towards the middle and end part but the beginning is too critical. I almost gave up on this game. I even got slightly spoiled because I looked up a transcript of the game. I don't know if there's a better version of this game that solves this issue, hopefully there is but because of this issue, I won't be recommending this one.
it is a good mystery game with lots of fun puzzles.
A defining classic that holds up after a full generation. I watched my dad play it before I could understand anything about what was going on, now Im showing it to my son, and enjoying it immensely.
Interesting to play as a historical game, but it's mostly a UI struggle as opposed to logical puzzles.
Good thinking game, difficult puzzles.
Overall impressive narrative with excellent graphics and mechanics - puzzles a little difficult sometimes (but I'm 70); couldn't be bothered with the grind of the Rime age...
On to Riven now.
Myst is a classic and this version is even better. In fact, I'd just play this one, if you've never played the original, because the original was amazing back in the 90's and truly groundbreaking, but it looks a bit drab compared to all the subsequent games it influenced. This face lift makes it really look awesome again. Time actually changes if you wait around on Myst island in this version and you can use a flashlight to see things better, which is a nice touch.
It's the same great game with an additional section. The Myst games are just so well done, I'd say just get this game and see if you like it.
The Myst series never fails to Impress me, I keep going back for more.
