The story so far...
I can't believe it! My mission was supposed to be routine data recovery on an old derelict generation ship, but instead, I ended up rescuing an adorable AI girl who grew up in a tremendously patriarchal Neo-Confucian society? And now she's discovered a bunch of messages left by the mysterious Old *Mute... and wants me to uncover with her the slow enactment of a regressive political program that caused her society to regress to Joseon Dynasty social mores?!I wasn't expecting this at all! I thought the three day trip back to Earth would be peaceful and lonely and not at all filled with reading about tragedy!
And so began my hateful days...

NGL, not happy this game isn't compatible with newer versions of MacOS, but it's a dark, delightful game with a wonderful soundtrack. There's definitely a deep story here. Not happy with the fact that it's impossible to 100% this game ("Level Four Revive Materia" is the achievement in question that no one can get) but I guess that's just a part of life.
And as for the Mac compatibility issue... that's what the Steam Deck is for, right? :)

neutral about it, just playing the first game should suffice.
i dont get the hype around *Mute this time considering she refuses to change her misogynistic ways even after finding out about the truth. i get that going against ones upbringing is very hard but then why does *Hyun-ae, a victim of this sexist system just forgives her even though their views dont align at all. doesnt sit well with me.
I purchased Hate Plus in 2014, two years after playing Analogue: A Hate Story. I played thru all 3 routes, once in 2014 and again in 2019. After all the visual novels I have played, this is the one that has stayed in my mind the most. It does a fantastic job of building up what Analogue ended with, while having it’s own distinct charm. I honestly cant think of any negatives, just go play it!
okay so i liked it overall but I just have one thing i really want to complain about so this is going to come across *really* negative even though i had an overall good time
the cake section was really annoying. 1: immersion break; this doesn't make sense in the context of the lore at all. 2: i don't get to read a story anymore; I come to Love's work because it tells engaging stories about communities I'm in. I do not come to it to actually date a scripted program. The only context this would make sense in is if *Hyun-ae is someone I-the actual real life woman- am dating. Which is not something I want. I came to read a story about a space investigator and a compelling AI character hanging out and investigating a mystery, and picked choices conducive to what would be the most interesting version of that to me. I did not come here to actually date *Hyun-ae, but it feels like that's how the story is expecting players to engage with it, which is deeply unpleasant. Third and least important: I can not afford to bake a cake. It is as simple as that. I do not have the time, cooking space, or money to make a cake for a fictional character's amusement, and the fact that the game thinks it's acceptable to berate the player for just wanting to rp as a fictional character's gf instead of actually being one is disgusting. The game is criticizing you for trying to maintain a healthy distance between yourself and the characters you play, and it is easily the worst part of this game or anything else Love has written(that i've read). anyway yeah i didn't hate the game I just think that part was utterly unacceptable and i can't believe it made it into the full release and hasn't been fixed after all these years
I own the game but I will never play it. It has an intentionally impossible achievement (not coded in) to poison your Steam Achievements forever just so it can make a Final Fantasy VII reference. I hope Valve eventually requires all achievements be possible or be removed in future. If developers had the choice between keeping servers online or pulling from the store entirely we would have less impossible achievements on the platform.
Nonsense like this game pulls should just be against TOS period.
