These four races exist in one world.
A world filled with Remnants — mysterious artifacts from an ancient era.
Who created the Remnant? How long ago? And for what purpose?
With these questions left unanswered, the Remnants became beneficial tools used for the good of civilization.
The world was at peace...or so it seemed. Who was to know such darkness lay in wait?
The powers of the Remnants slowly began to change the world's balance.
A rift slowly formed between those who ruled and those who obeyed.
This was the dawning of a new era — an era of countless frays that would be brought upon the world by those enslaved by their own lust for power.
A thousand years later, the journey of one young man begins.
Featuring an enthralling story, countless characters and an intricate battle system, Square Enix brings the RPG experience known as The Last Remnant to the PC.

pretty bad, pretty charming
combat system is different, it's not good by any means, but it's different. Other than that it has all the average beats of a square rpg in terms of progression and story.
Amazing JRPG gem, please relist it for the PC.
You're not missing out on anything by skipping this.
I promise you the battle system isn't as in depth as people claim it to be. If anyone even claims that. It's just that literally nothing in this game is explained. You don't get to know what your stats do, how to get to another class, or what your class even does. Shields have an evasion statistic but there's also a defense statistic coming from weapons. How do you know which is better? I don't know what one point of Eva means or one point of Def so I can't compare them.
It really feels like this game isn't done. The story feels incredible bare bones, the sidequests feel similar. These things are there because that's what you need for a jrpg to be a jrpg but there's no care behind them. Why does this game even exist? The world also feels super bland, dungeons and the overland maps are all incredibly flat and boring visually. There are some that go up a bit or down a bit, but really everything in this game is boring to look at.
I can't imagine anyone thought the battle system would be fun if they tried it out on pen and paper. It also feels halfway finished. They almost got somewhere different than just "I spam the A button on attack 20 turns in a row" but anything leading them away from that doesn't feel complete. It really wants to go harder into being a strategy game and unfortunately isn't able to find a satisfying way to.
This game makes me want to play FF12 instead. I don't know why my brain keeps inserting the thought that I'm just playing a rip off of that game. I haven't played that game in a long time and barely remember anything about it, but I'm gonna go with it.

This is one of the best JRPG I really liked the company system. Played it a few playthros and still go back to it after a few years
I played this game for 14 minutes once over a decade ago.
I will beat this game...... eventually. All in all a weird but fun JRPG. Game systems can be confusing and the leveling system is... not great.... but the game holds up even to this day. This game won't change your life or anything, but I can't help but love the mystery this game holds as well as the unknowingness of the level system. Solid 7/10 for JRPG players, 8/10 for me due to nostalgia/desire to eventually beat the game
Absolutely love this game. A shame you can't buy it anymore. Totally unique, it did not deserve its fate.
Most booooring hour of my life I've ever spent in an RPG. I want to like it, I really do, but I couldn't stop falling asleep.
I nearly passed out from relief after finishing this game. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it.
However, great craft building, team composition, and memorable characters.
If you're trying to play chess and can step back and do some preliminary planning with the team then take a glance. PC version has some QoL versus the Xbox that makes the game smoother in comparison.
great game/rpg with unique battle system
It's like what if final fantasy but bad.
At the request of the publisher, The Last Remnant™ is unlisted on the Steam store and will not appear in search.
WE LOVE THIS GAME.
It's good.
A classic, I'd love a remake of this and Infinite Undiscovery
This game was such a big part of my young teenage years in gaming and it still holds up.
Not a single game in the world has fighting mechanics like this game does. Someone needs to make either a sequel to this game, or use and improve on this kind of fighting system - feels more like a war instead of just 4 people against 20 enemies and they state it's an all out war.
Seriously, if you haven't played this game, do it! It will be a unique game that will never leave your mind.
OH, and F off stupid hell gate boss.
Amazing game however the game is not able to run stable on modern OS and hardware, so I recommend you not to buy this game until they solved the problem
The Best of an Era...
Although no longer available on the steam store, the game randomly crashes either through initiating battle or just loading into the city map.
A mostly standard Squeenix RPG with turn-based combat and 3D characters... I would have recommended this game if not for one issue: this game is one of a handful of games that actively punishes players who grind, and you need to grind to some degree to have high enough stats. Way too easy to accidentally soft-lock yourself into having to start a new game, which I have had to do 10-60 hours into the last 3 tries. I hate it so much. Why?
