A simple but uniqe strategy game.
A very refreshing take on RTS and Grand strategy that scales well unlike other games. You can't effortlessly squash the enemy because the deep and intricate logistics system constantly challange you and equalise the playing field between any given opponents, Despite diplomacy being nonexistent it only serves to further tha ballance between bigger and smaller states.
Despite your empire's immence size you can't just move your mighty army to conquer and curbstomp your neighbour without proper preparations, your other neighbours are constantly looking for weakness and will raid and siege underdefended areas.
Starvation is a real danger for both sides, and the rythm between the campaigning seasons and the winter is something unlike in any other RTS, combat is simplistic but the surrounding systems make the whole story of conquering brutal and methodical.
This has grown to be one of my favorite games of all time. The simplicity, the uniqueness, the immersion, all come together to create an unforgettable experience.
Really slow paced and boring. Your constantly getting attacked from all sides and manpower takes a literal human life time to replenish. Don't waste your time
