Greatest game ever made. At least to me. 4.5/5
I would argue it is the Paradox game that is the easiest to get into, where you can tell what is going on the majority of the time. If you are losing, you can usually see what is going wrong, same the other way around. endless replays. DLC needed, but its practically nothing.
Fuck the Reactionaries (:
Amazing game with both DLC. Far better than Vic3 and doesn't leach your wallet.
very fun and wholesome game
Lots to master but hours of fun
This game taught me why countries actually banned slavery.
in my opinion, this is the best pdx game (although it probably objectively isn’t). it takes a while to actually understand how the game works, but once you do its amazing. however, game is kinda dependent on mods such as GFM to be good.
Chinese people raging about hoi4 in an entirely separate game that is a decade and a half old, steam needs to do better at moderating reviews, especially when it is about an entirely different game.
THE Classic Paradox game, I love it dearly even if 2 million fucking Jacobins spawn right before the 2nd Great War over Alsace-Lorraine.
One of my favorite Paradox games, albeit with AI and multiplayer support that has not aged so well.
If this game got longer support and some of the features that made it into EU4, I think this could've been Paradox's best game ever.
I highly recommend anyone try this game. It's one of the best GST's, especially for low-end systems.
Trash. If you add political factors to a game, you will spoil it. Paradox not only do this, but also never listen to players. If you buy this game, you can do nothing, including refund, when Paradox add something you don't like to it. Paradox Interactive should close down.
fun game i invade my neigbhors as france i invade belgium and the netherlands i lose war i invade small german state prussia joins war then i realized im cooked after that i rage queit a throw my pc out of the window 10/10 would recommended would play again if i could afford another windows 98
I'm on a mission to play and review the over 700 games in my Steam Library. Vicky 2 still holds up today as when released. Raising empires and map painting until your hearts content!
Best Excel version in the world ever published
Game doesn't run well on Windows 10 anymore. Neither it does run in a window.
best economic strategy game
i might be bad at this game but it's still good
Still the greatest Paradox game to date
the new DLC is created by nihilists,Paradox is such arrogant and rude with poor bit of historical knowledge. Losing players and reputation in China sounds nothing to them.
Victoria 2 is not your typical grand strategy game; it’s a sprawling, intricately detailed simulation of the 19th and early 20th centuries. If you're a history lover, the sheer depth of this game is enough to keep you hooked for hours, as you manage the rise and fall of nations, navigate diplomatic intricacies, and balance complex economic and military systems. Every decision, from industrialization to social reforms, can have far-reaching consequences, and that's what makes it so addicting.
The game’s learning curve is steep—so steep that it often feels like you need a degree in geopolitics to even get started. The interface can be clunky at times, and while there’s an abundance of information, it can be overwhelming. But once you get the hang of it, the real beauty of Victoria 2 shines through. The mechanics of diplomacy, trade, and nation-building are brilliant in their complexity, and the game's ability to simulate historical events, like wars or social revolutions, feels deeply immersive.
One of the most impressive features is how the game models population dynamics. You can watch as your people’s desires evolve over time, influenced by their culture, class, and the political climate. It’s not just about winning wars—it’s about understanding your society and its needs, and that’s a powerful thing.
That said, there are some drawbacks. The game has aged in some ways, and while there are mods to improve the experience, the core gameplay can feel like it’s missing a bit of polish. AI can also be a bit erratic in some situations, making your strategies less predictable. The game's slower pace might not appeal to everyone, especially if you’re looking for something more fast-paced or action-oriented.
In the end, Victoria 2 is a game that rewards patience and dedication. It’s not for everyone, but for those who love to dig deep into the intricacies of managing a nation during a transformative period, it offers an unparalleled experience. With its steep learning curve and occasional frustrations, it can be a bit of a challenge to get into, but once you’re hooked, it’s hard to put down.
slightly better than crack cocaine
Pick a small country. Get eaten by a big country after hours of playing because no one wants to be your friend. Good game.
I played a bit and i dont recomend it
GOOD GAME
Paradox Interactive,♥♥♥♥ U! The new log of Hearts of Iron IV really has you. Is India your ancestor or Sweden's ancestor? Did they mate with lizards to give birth to the P Society, or even the Imperial Cemetery? Could this be a Swedish cemetery with the intention of splitting the People's Republic of China? What is the relationship between India and silk? If you give the core to India or not to China, then return to the Silk Empire. What is the relationship between India and silk? Did you shoot it out during the gluing process of Indian Asan? Are they your fathers? Damn it, Chinese players have spent so much money to support you. You just play games like this. Is it because China's economic and military capabilities are too weak or its population is too small? How dare you challenge China? Damn animal company
I wanted to write sth about the game, but my comment falls to rebels
One of the best grand strategy game I have ever played but with mods it makes the experience 10x better.
Best grand strategy game ever
Sadly better than victoria 3 with real combat.
Without mods, the game isn't that spectacular. A lot of the content/favor that is available to you in the base game could be fully completed in around a decade of in game time (which would be around an hour in real time probably.) And while a sandbox-like strategy game does sound fun in concept, it eventually gets boring when you realize that almost every nation plays the same. If I was reviewing Victoria 2 for it's base game contents only, I wouldn't recommend it. But with mods, this game is amazing. Victoria 2's dedicated community turned this into a neat old paradox title from around a decade ago, to probably the most addicting thing I've ever played. HPM, HFM, and GFM alone completely revamp the entire experience. Also, installing mods for is extremely easy.
overall, I'll give it a 7/10
"The militant socialists have risen up against your militant socialist government" Ah yes, we were not militant socialist enough
is good i can subjugate people
make this a hoi4 mod
the best game paradox ever made
fuck this gen z dumbasses that cant handle complexity
very good
Buaidh airson Ìmpireachd na Gearmailt!
One of the best games ever for strategists- and it still is, despite it's age.
Literally Peak, sure I got my ass beat in almost every war I engaged in but when I didn't focus on conquering all my neighbor I actually thrived and had a decent run, so uh pretty good. 10/10 would modernize Persia again
Still better then vicky 3
Japan very fun, love game - Indan Man
Love the game as well as the lotr mod!
É um bom jogo, mas enjoa rápido.
This game in a nutshell - "There are 400.000 artisans that are starving to death, but it's not necessarily a bad thing"
Now the old king is dead, that was when I ruled the world.
Great game; really interesting and simple war and population system.
The game can easily be learnt but is really hard to master.
Our Dixie forever! She's never at a loss, down with the eagle and up with the cross!
Simply a perfect game for people that enjoy complex strategic games. My only objection is that statistics for wars is lacking. But otherwise just perfect.
Classic.
But If you want to really enjoy the game, you'll need mods like HPM
its a pretty cool game, i would recommend the steam guides instead of yt cuz you can read at your pace and theres a lot of guides, but if ur starting out then i would recommend just to play through like 5 games all the way until 1936 or u get conquered, then go to the guides. ik its a run on sentence but the game is good, so i would recommend to play it
It was probably a new and novel game for its time, but completely pales in all regards to victoria 3.
This allows for the dream of colonial empires that never were. Modding is great as well.
