I remember first watching someone play this years and years ago.
The music is pretty nice, the graphics are pretty good and the voice acting is great as well.
The story is simple but interesting and the dialogue (both about the story and various side dialogues) is pretty nice and funny.
The puzzles are pretty good I'd say, and they can get fairly complex later on, its various mechanics are pretty unique and interesting, as far as I can tell there is no level maker which is unfortunate it could have been a nice bonus.
For the bad, it can sometimes stutter when loading in new level sections, you can accidentally soft lock yourself in one of the third wing early levels, and the level select could be a bit better, as in if you select to replay this level only then afterwords it would be great if it went to that same spot in the level selector instead of the blank slate it puts you in, a very minor complaint since this would only matter if you were replaying the levels one at a time in that way.
And lastly, there's DLC achievements, which is unfortunate in my opinion.
Overall, it's a funny and interesting puzzle game with decent puzzles and a simple but nice story with some nice voice acting as well.
Dumb
Honestly one of the more enjoyable non-Portal first-person puzzlers we've played. The dialogue is fun although John de Lancie gets a little annoying. Puzzles are clever, although some moments of things being a little frustrating to get the timing right on. Generally though the core mechanic of dimension switching is fun and the game doesn't overstay its welcome. Ike is so cute!
I like the concept, and the idea for the game mechanics. I like the whimsical setting.
I don't like the timing puzzles. Where the challenge is not in figuring out the solution, the challenge is in executing the solution. Quickly and accurately.
I stopped having fun in the middle of hall 2, so I stopped playing for a while, but I came back and completed the game. I also got stuck on the Couch Surfing level for a bit. I easily saw how to solve it, but actually executing the solution is obnoxiously difficult. I never want to play that level again, so I know I can never get certain achievements that require meeting certain conditions on every level.
It's frustrating the number of times I walk through a doorway, or past a certain point, and then back to make sure I understand the puzzle, and then it checkpoints before I set up the thing I was "supposed" to do to set up the next part of the puzzle, so each time I fail, I have to turn around and redo that part over each time, instead of going straight for trying the hard part. Once you know where it checkpoints, it's less of a problem, but it's still annoying how often the first time through a level it checkpoints at an inconvenient time that makes solving the puzzle more difficult. This is a minor gripe.
One really strange thing is that this is the only game that changes the colors on my computer case. Every time I shift dimensions, it changes the colors on the case to "match" that dimension. Red/heavy, yellow/slow, green/gravity, pink/fluffy, white/neutral, blue/menu, but I wish I could turn off that feature. It seems someone thought this would be "cool" and just implemented it, but it's distracting, and I'd rather just have the colors *I* picked for my computer case.
Overall, I still recommend Quantum Conundrum, on sale.
I have not tried the DLC, but I'm unlikely to purchase it given my frustrations with the main game, and the negative reviews, but again I would only get those on sale.

This is actually an incredibly fun puzzle game that I previously finished on xbox when I was younger
coming back to play it as an adult however...why the fuck am I lagging?
I'm not talking about a nanosecond input lag I'm talking about multiple seconds of input lag for single button presses as well as random freezes and slowdown
I KNOW my laptop can handle the game because it's done so with far, FAR more cpu heavy games AND fits the recommended specs 2fold
so why the fuck is there lag for a singleplayer game? I refuse to believe that leader-board stats are that intensive on the network and even if they had some significant drag, I get fast enough connections to stream in 1084p on twitch so what the fuck?
fun quick game to play
Saw this on a video a while back, and I've finally gotten to play it.
The Portal comparisons are inevitable, but I think they are well-deserved. Good story mode, replayable for high scores, and makes physicists cry. Just ask me, I'm one of them.
i remember playing this when i was younger and it brings back some memory's,
if your trying to 100% this game, you cant skip his dialogue so it will be annoying if you mess up the time or shift challenge to the levels
Its got great puzzle mechanics, and John De Lanci ("Q" from Star Trek TNG) does a great job as the mad scientist narrator. Unfortunately there are way too many jumping puzzles that you have to navigate via awkward and sluggish controls. I'm a big fan of the portal games, but I find the platforming in this one to be extremely annoying. They should have concentrated on the logic puzzles.
Fun, a lot like portal.
This game is... fine, but like. There's. No real reason to play it in 2024?
Like, okay, so it's a Portal-like, theoretically. Extended hallway of first-person puzzles while a voice quips at you. Okay.
The voice isn't charming, for one, so that's half the fun lost right there. Like, I dunno man, I just don't vibe with the uncle? The Portal voices are playfully mean but in a fun, creative way and it helps that they're both some degree of antagonist by the end. Uncle just hates that you exist and loves himself, that's about it. I don't think the dialogue got a single chuckle out of me the whole time, and the performance ain't anything to write home about either.
The puzzle mechanics are... fine, but there's so little you can do with any of them, either on their own or together. Portal stays engaging because each puzzle is unique and most every step of every puzzle is something you haven't done before, or reapplying something you have done before in a new way. Most of what QC's mechanics allow you to do are... turn light thing heavy... platform across tiny platforms... throw thing then make it heavy to break glass... build staircase using light blocks and fan... throw thing to ride it as a platform... like, pretty much every puzzle is just some combination of these, I swear. And by the end the game becomes way more about execution than actual puzzle solving, because there simply aren't that many clever things you can do with the mechanics - and any clever things you -can- do end up repeated too many times to stay novel.
Also, the game just. Stop. On a cliffhanger that never gets followed up on. That makes no sense, and comes out of nowhere. The final "room" feels like it was meant to contain a puzzle but NOPE you just run around a small strip of ground picking up four batteries with no actual puzzle or challenge to it, it's basically just a cutscene, then you do One Thing after and... that's, it. Just. Okay. I'm mostly just. Confused?
Like, okay, again the game isn't -awful- but there's just. So many better options, and the game demands comparisons to its most obvious coworker, comparisons it unilaterally loses. I got this for a buck and it only took me a handful of hours to play so I'm not that fussed about it (and I only barely poked at the DLC which just seems to amplify the game's worst traits, but, whatever) but you could do. So much better than this.
What a beautiful polished fun user friendly game. The game play is perfectly designed, a balance between challenging and just plain fun. Some of the puzzles took me almost an hour, but never longer than that, and I don't think I'm particularly brilliant. Would recommend to anyone who likes puzzle games or Portal.
fantastic little...puzzle platformer? either way i very much enjoyed myself with this brilliant game!
This is a curious FP-puzzler made by some of the creators of Portal and Portal 2. This time, instead of thinking with portals, you're thinking with dimensions. The key to getting through rooms this time is switching dimensions around. In the fluffy dimension, you can move things around. In the heavy dimension, they fall down, heavy enough to press buttons. And so on. The basic plot is that you are in the mansion of your eccentric mad scientist uncle who takes the place of GLADOS (but a lot more positive). I bounced off it at first, but then came back to it with a little maturity and it's a nice crawl. Nothing flabbergasting like Portal was, but it's a fun idea. And if you get stuck, I recommend looking up walkthroughs. I don't think the game spent much time on playtesting. (Also expect a disappointing ending).
fun game. if you enjoy portal, youll probably enjoy this game as well. unique form of puzzle solving and allows for a fun brain teaser + platforming game.
+points for Ike
Fun first person puzzler with silly writing and interesting mechanics
A week ago I was diagnosed with a terminal illness and the doctors have given me a year at best. I'm so glad I was able to play this before I go. I don't know how many people will see this; but I recommend to you to play this game if you do see it. Gameplay, atmosphere, graphics. everything is masterfully crafted. If you read it, thank you and good bye.
good old times
Awesome puzzle game. Fun to play, Hard to master
Very fun game
I like this game, it’s got a very unique mechanic where you can change dimensions and that makes things lighter, it’s also fun to play because of that and it being somewhat similar to Portal.
Nice game but the autosave ruins it. The levels that can kill you can be a nuisance if you must redo the boring parts because youo unwittingly exited the game.
I only recommend the game if the autosave problem doesn't bother you.
Why have so many long empty hallways? Just have the guy blabber on while I'm solving the puzzle. There are some really bad puzzles in this one, lots of waiting for cycles, and resetting things when you press the wrong button, and long resets after scraping a laser with your toe. Not even a fraction as good as certain other first-person puzzle games.
Pretty fun puzzles and mechanics, love the visuals and music. The story is a bit of a letdown and it's held back by tedious parkour, but it has a silly quirky vibe I fw.
Okay this game took me a very very long time to beat. but overall i'd say it's a good game. but i'd rather not play it unless you want to spend year's trying to beat it. at-least if your like me i'm very well aware that there are people out there who beat it faster. and that's why i still recommend this to people.
Simple puzzle game that has a nice charm to it.
Runs flawlessly on steam deck.
On the easier side as far as puzzle games go but I found just enough critical thinking to keep my attention.
It was honestly a breath of fresh air as far as puzzle games go. Its simply fun to play without melting your brain.
I found it to be an enjoyable, charming experience
Puzzles aren't bad, but having the narrator constantly point out what to do really defeats the purpose. Story is forgettable. Graphics hold up alright since this game released in 2012. Fairly short, about 5-6hrs to finish. For $1 on sale, it was worth it.
