The story, art, voice acting, and music are all great. Your choices actually matter quite a bit, and you can feel their impact. The cast is charming and unique, and I find the art quite cute and appealing.
A fine enough read for an evening or two.
The story is interesting enough even with too much world-building for my liking, the characters are colorful and entertaining enough to get me to like them all by the end and the voice acting is surprisingly nice.
What somewhat ruins it for me is the gameplay. It's fine enough for a single run, I actually liked figuring out the potion challenges the first time around and the main story "puzzles" are simple enough but they do cross to annoying when you have to replay them over and over again. I think I saw a "skip" option somewhere during my first run but not when I was actually wishing for it later on. There were several other mechanics that I thought could be improved as I was playing but I don't want to bother with recappping everything.
After my first run I was intrigued enough to want to see what other choices I could've made and that's where the game mechanics started being a pain. And while I still remain somewhat interested in other romances I'm not willing to go through the game three more times to see them.
So it's nice enough for a sinlge playthrough. If you're a completionist through be prepared to suffer. Or just be bored I guess.
• The VA is amazing.
• The story was thrilling.
• All of the characters are well written.
• I want Victoria to pin me against the wall.
• I love it when VNs allow character customization!
• The personality system is neat imo.
Its a really good game. Ill be honest and say that it wasnt exactly what I was looking for. The game dosent offer too much freedom as to how the story develops, and those decisions are mostly just choosing on the spot, for what Ive seen. There are some moments that are affected by how you play, but for what Ive seen theyre a bit too few. However, the game is still pretty great. The puzzles are good, the art style is quite pretty, the voice acting was very good and the story was excellent. A good game worth its price. Im excited for the sequel
I absolutely love this game! As a fan of magic-themed games and dating sims with unique, memorable characters, this was a delightful find. The story is intriguing, the characters are captivating, and I only wish I had discovered it sooner. Better late than never, though! It’s truly a gem, and I can’t recommend it enough to anyone who loves immersive storytelling and a touch of magic.
A thoroughly forgettable game with milquetoast writing.
Mime is adorable.
This game is adorable! It was fun and full of twists and turns, and allowed for choices to feel like they mattered. There were times where I was disappointed with the outcome of things, but I immediately thought of my next playthrough and how I would make it different! Bravo~!
this is one of my favorite story lines in a visual novel. great amount of choice, really fun characters, interesting plot points/twists, and a story you can take at your own pace. highly recommend, especially if you're new to the visual novel world!
Overall I enjoyed the game but the end is very rushed until the credits rolled i thought I was an illusion and there would be more game. The romance (I romanced Victoria) left me wanting. I wish there was more once you establish your feelings for each other. I see a lot of potential in the game but it felt like the second half was just rushed. Not sure if there are any plans for a sequel. If there are id love for it to be a longer experience than the first game.
This is a really good game with enjoyable riddles, loveable characters and fun interactions.
What I liked:
+ The alchemy mini game. I was afraid it would get boring/repetetive after a while, but it kept me entertained throughout the whole story. A lot of them are also voluntary (but needed to unlock one character's backstory), so you don't have to do too many on successive playthroughs.
+ The characters. I liked some more than others, but all of them are well written and have more depth than I first thought. Even the bad demon guy has some really interesting aspects to his backstory and you can feel for him.
+ Customizable character
+ Tone indicator for choices. I also liked that there were a lot of dialogue options. Most of them didn't really impact the overall story, but they improved the immersion immensely!
+ The art/graphic style
+ The game asks you some interesting moral questions. They are mostly connected to the companions' backstories and I felt like my choices didn't influence too much (aside from their epilogue). But I enjoyed thinking about them regardless.
+ The world building. I just found out a sequel is in production and I am excited to experience another aspect of this world.
What I disliked:
- The romance. Like I said, the characters are great, but the "romance arc" is severely underdeveloped. You get two short little scenes in which you can confess your feelings and kiss them, but it doesn't change much otherwise.
- The end felt pretty sudden
- Low replayability. The story is very linear and doesn't branch out. It will stay the same every playthrough, you just change the flavour of the dialogue with your choices for the MC's personality.
Anyways, I really liked this game and had my fun with it. I will definitely try the sequel once it gets released. 8/10
ehhh. too wholesome for me
ah.
I loved this game. It made me smile, shed tears, and blush and kick my little feet. Love the story, the characters, their wholesome relationships, the music and ambiance, the art, the voices. Beautiful.
Fun :)
I consider this an elevated visual novel, meaning it has some customization and mechanics other than reading and choosing. I liked the alchemy puzzles, the story and the characters. I do wish there were more achievements (a la I Was A Teenage Exocolonist) for different routes to encourage more replay. Arcadia Fallen 2 seems to have a little more customization. I hope there are more routes (and respective achievements). Excited to see that it will take into account your decisions in this game, so I'm pumped to see where it goes!
The art is 100/10 and the story isn't terrible but it's difficult to stay immersed in it. The setting is basically "everyone is racist except you and your five closest friends" meets "our cop friend tells us that it's okay to break the law for The Justice". I wish a compelling story could come from this, but as of Chapter 2 I just don't feel good about most of what's happening or who it's happening with.
This game is wholesome and well written. I was grateful to see that dialogue choices offered accurately reflected what your character would say and the tone in which it's said. There's plenty of weight given to serious moments, while also interjecting wit and empathetic moments in key places to offer up hopeful respites.
The endings were perhaps a shade too "pragmatic" for a high magic fantasy story like this, especially with certain plots setting the stage for grander resolutions. At times the narration seemed to be a lecture on accepting resigned incrementalism over revolutionary changes, or lecturing on being willing to say goodbye and let go because people are inevitably splitting apart to do their own things. After everything the companions had gone through together, it would have been nice to have at least a couple of the more emotional characters have a little more dialogue choices to the effect of hoping to stay in touch/appreciating the ties to one another being made. But, besides the lack of variety or depth on that front, the results seemed fairly consistent for the characters and their various goals.
I usually leave longer reviews, but I feel like anything else I could say that's positive would involve a whole lot of spoilers and I don't want to ruin the plot for others. So I'll simply end this review by saying that the abrupt epilogue resolutions aside, this game is nonetheless a rare gem that deftly reminds one that there is always a place in the world for some daring heroics, even against overwhelming odds. That sort of optimism and the coherent storytelling it was immersed in, amidst a sea of otherwise nihilistic or braindead offerings saturating the market, is most welcome to encounter.
Thanks to the devs for this experience, I look forward to another play through at some point to see other outcomes of choices.
Oh I'm in love with this cute little game and can't wait to get the second one!
It is a complete 1-80 from the stuff I'm usually playing, and this is a nice short (around 6 hours for me) vacation into a cute, compelling, and at times moving novel.
Kudos for a customisable character btw!
I enjoyed both the artstyle, the puzzles, the voices and all.
Very good game. I like the game design even if the character customisation is limited but still friendly to all gender. The story is interessant and the voice acting is in tune especially the death of Elizabeth and, according to your choices, Mime's death . Talking about choices you have a lot of them, depending on how you want your character to be. Spiteful ? Determined ? Anxious ? Try them, the might lead to different outcome. Didn't romanced all the character but whitout being the center of the game it's still really cute and the romance answers are clearly stated.
To cut it short, I had a good time.
This game combines storytelling, small puzzles, and great characters to bring a cozy fantasy story to the player. Overall, I enjoyed playing this and could see myself doing another play-through in the future. Quick notes on the game: no timed puzzles, cozy fantasy, small character customization, various romanceable characters, good storyline, good dialogue selection
ur in victoria's dms but michael and i are on her last nerve
The graphics are cute and I love that there is voice acting, but, I find the story and the 'romances' very boring. It plays similarly to Psychadelica of the Ashen Hawke where there is a map and you go back and forward between talking to characters. You can do 'quests' (essentially the same puzzle game over and over) to advance the game.
I do also like the male love interests and that you can customise your own character. Over all, I tried to like it but couldn't.
The creators of this game clearly love bards so much that they made them the most OP class in this game. I fear the bards and their power. 10/10
Michael you have my entire heart
I really enjoyed the characters and their interactions. The story moved along at a good pace and there were a few surprises that threw me for a loop. The art style was wonderful, but I felt like the animations were a little blocky. That is my only complaint for this game, and overall it has been a gem to play.
A good story with great characters I really enjoyed it.
What can i say? The writing, art, and cinematics of this game are wonderful- It's obvious how much care the devs put into creating this game. Top of the list of things in my library and a story I will play again(and again). 100% recommended, I can't wait for Arcadia Fallen 2.
