Rival Stars Horse Racing: Desktop Edition

Absolutely love the game. It beats the mobile version which is what introduced me to the game. Yes, the updates are a bit behind compared to the mobile version but honestly what do you expect. The story line is great. The patterns are cool. The little baby foals are adorable. It's significantly easier to play than the mobile version because it's not pay to win and you can acquire the necessary money rather quickly if you win races. The breeding stats will give you a headache but it's not really difficult just annoying. 10/10. 100% recommend. If you love horse games, especially racing games, you'll love this one.

this game scratches that race horse autism so good to the point it hurts. I will be dragging the rival from behind my horse like he owes me money.

I strongly recommend this game. Graphics are good, the racing mechanism works great and there's a wide range of customizations, as well as a detailed horse genetics engine.
Maybe the free roam mode can be better and covering a larger area, but that's not the main point of the game so it's fine as it is.
Last but not least, the company behind this game is very open for player feedback and opinions, that's not common.

Fun racing game that keeps getting better with each update. I highly recommend this game for someone looking for something casual and who is a horse lover. The graphics are nice and game play is smooth most of the time.

What I like about Rival Stars Horse Racing is it's a realistic gameplay of horseracing and it's fun!

Semi mobile/tablet game like. I think it was ported over from the way it feels.

But nonetheless it does what it says. You can race and you can breed horses. It's chilled, requires few buttons for races and such. Relaxing to play.

Some bits can be confusing at first. But once you get to the breeding and upgrade your things it picks up pace a bit.

The horses movement is good. And the animations

I would just say though, managed expectations in terms of game layout and how you play as again, it doesn't feel like a game with pc made in mind

Would be good if the menus could be changed to accommodate pc use easier. As I don't feel we need so many menus to navigate when on pc, as it could all be put into one easier to use menu. But since it was a phone game everything is split up and it can feel a bit unintuitive on pc

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to invite friends. Help is much appreciated

The PC version is so much better than mobile. The game provides an interesting storyline alongside entertaining gameplay. Definitely recommend it!

I spent most of my time playing this game on mobile when it first came out in 2020, but have recently switched to desktop and I like it more. The overall look of the game is cleaner, but I do miss the live races and events a mobile player could participate in. Advancing the story is much easier on desktop than mobile, and that makes it more enjoyable to play in this format, especially because there isn't a paywall or energy total holding the player back. I recommend this version more.

This game is very well set up. It is easy for any level player, I love the amount of freedom you have with this game and the best part is, is that you don't even have to spend money in game!

Pleasantly surprised! This is a really chill game that draws you into it's homely world! It's surprisingly deep and the single player storyline is well structured, you always feel like you are progressing or unlocking something...it has a real 'life-sim' feel about it and I'm totally loving it!!

If you liked the Barbie Horse riding games growing up then this has a similar feel. If you're not into re-running races then it may feel grindy for you. But I find it enjoyable.

Thid is one of the most amazing games if you like breeding horses! the horses look so beautiful and the coats are just amazing, and even if you dont like breeding horses there is plenty of racing to be done

This game manages to succesfully scratch the horse game itch, and it does so wonderfully! but that being said the gameplay loop is just too repetitive/grindy, and you can very clearly tell that it is a poor adaptation of a mobilegame focusing on micro transactions (note there are of course no microtransactions in the steam version).
For myself I enjoy it because cute horse, but I honestly cannot recommend buying it.

I SERIOUSLY REGRET BUYING THIS GAME. DON’T BUY IT. They barely pay attention to the desktop edition and don’t update it for a long time and when they do is nothing new. Is the same thing the mobile app has. They pay more attention to the star club members and people who keep giving them money by buying horses and guess is now known in the app are cheaters who probably hack the game to always win so your money is not going to help you to win anymore. This is a problem from years ago and just now they recognize it. Too many bad experiences with pikpok and they censor anyone who let them know they are wrong in their group btw. Too late now for a refund so I’ll just delete the game from my computer just like I did with the mobile app. Don’t waste your time and money. Better to save that money to buy Red Dead Redemption. Is WAY MUCH BETTER than this attempt of game.

This game has outstanding graphics, and can become very addictive. I have made over $100 million in this game, and it is so fun! If you dont like horse racing, there is steeplechase, cross country, and even betting! I cannot explain how much fun this game is, but i can tell you one thing. DOWNLOAD THIS GAME NOW!!!

I hadn't played a horse game since the Barbie one back on Xbox 360. This is quite fun, I like that I can play by spending gold for a jockey, or drive myself. The breeding dynamic is fun and this is quite "grindy" but the pay scales well with increasing prestige.

The whole game is amazing! Breeding is so much fun, especially with all the new breeds and coat colors. Racing does get a little boring after awhile though, and once you reach max 20 there isn't that much do but breed and race. Besides those minor things, I don't have a single complaint about Rival Stars and would recommend it to anybody horse crazy! I think for future updates showjumping and dressage competitions would be really cool! Almost like an OTTB!

Really good game with solid animations and mechanics. Hoping they continue to add content tho and would love to see some of the cool things the mobile version gets added here like the members club etc! Would also love more stable customisation etc, but it is a good game and if you enjoy animal/horse related games, I would defo add this to your library.

This is a great game! others should definitely play this! the only think that i hate is that you cannot breed you're custom creations until level 20.

A game for horse lovers of all ages! This game is 1000% better on PC/Mac than on mobile. The genetics system is detailed, the gameplay is nice, and the devs are updating the game to be better and add more places/goals/complexity all the time. If you like horses, you'll like this game.

A really cool game that is a lot of fun to develop your horse farm and racing stable while competing. Race mechanics are simple and fun.

Stunning graphics and easy gameplay

I'm a horse crazy person and this is my favorite horse game ever. i would like some like showjumping or even like eventing competitions added and some better like cross country and jumping horse breeds.

This game is a ton of fun if you're a horse lover. It's not the most complex game, but the breeding mechanics in it give you goals to work towards to create a better herd in your stable. I got the game on sale, and despite other reviews about price, this is a game I could justify at the full $40. I've already put nearly 40 hours into the game, and I'm not even finished with the story yet. When it breaks down to $1/hr or less, that's not a bad deal on overall gameplay length to price.

Updates on desktop are slower than mobile, but I enjoy the lack of micro-transactions and ability to earn money at a rapid pace when needed. Keeps goals from plateauing due to funds.

It's not a difficult game by any means, and it's not jam packed with a thousand features, outside of a fun breeding system, but it's a TON of fun, and worth the price if you're a huge horse lover. Parts do get repetitive (the cross country namely) when having to do them on repeat for money, but once you start breeding high quality horses, the races become a lot more fun to see the fruits of your labors in action.

This is a perfect example of why you can't just take a mobile game and make it a "full" release.

As much as I generally dislike microtransactions, pay-to-play economies, energy systems, etc., the waiting aspect of mobile games is largely what keeps players from getting bored. At first I was intrigued by the concept of having no wait times and all customizations unlocked from the get-go, but it only took me 30 minutes to realize that this version of the game boils down to, "spam races for ten minutes, click training buttons, repeat," with occasional horse breeding thrown in. You can't even truly run out of money since the barn income, which I'm assuming takes hours or days to refill on the app, takes five minutes max here. The gameplay loop falls apart into monotony when there's nothing forcing you to slow down or take breaks, and having unlimited energy really makes you realize how boring the races are.

But these issues honestly pale in comparison to the price tag. I bought the game for $24 during the Winter Sale, and that felt like extortion for what I got, but the $40 it costs normally? That might as well be highway robbery.

This is the first time in my ten years on Steam that I've refunded a game simply because I disliked it. Go spend your hard-earned cash on the three or four separate, better games you could buy with $40.

This game is so relaxing but challenging at the same time. I play this game for hours training and breeding. I also love buying gear for my horses, even though their prices on alot of things are high, i still reccomend.

The game is really fun and entertaining! It gets better as you go and is worth every penny! Would thoroughly recommend!
