I love this game, there's no RTS quite like it apart from Cossacks

American Conquest: Fight Back feels like an attempt to build on the foundation laid by the original American Conquest, but unfortunately, it falls short in many areas, especially in terms of difficulty and pacing.

At first, the game is enjoyable. The concept and the mechanics are solid, drawing you in with the promise of large-scale historical battles and strategy. However, this enjoyment fades quickly as the difficulty is cranked up to frustrating levels. Even the campaign missions, which should be fun and immersive, take hours to complete, and the pacing can feel painfully slow.

If you play above Easy difficulty, expect a steep, unforgiving challenge. The game seems to ramp up the difficulty without much consideration for balancing or smooth progression. Instead of a satisfying challenge, it feels more like an exercise in frustration as you struggle to make progress in missions that take far too long. On the flip side, if you choose Easy difficulty, there’s practically no challenge at all, leaving the game feeling hollow and unengaging.

The lack of proper defensive mechanics is one of the major gripes here. This game desperately needs walls or other defensive structures to add depth to the strategy. The absence of such features makes it difficult to manage large-scale battles or properly defend against AI attacks, leaving you with fewer tactical options and making the experience even more tedious.

Overall, American Conquest: Fight Back can be fun for a short while, but its difficulty spikes and lack of meaningful defensive mechanics make it hard to recommend, especially for anyone wanting a balanced or more casual experience.
You might want to skip this one unless you’re ready for hours of frustration.

5 new nations, most notable - Russians (Alaska events)

New missions and campaigns that include:
German expeditions
Alaska Events (both sides)
And I think there's more Indian missions?...I played that way too long ago...

And thats basically it, same gameplay, more units, more music and so on

The technical problems are still there so again, yes, the game is good but its barely worth the troubles to make it work....

But wait, there's more

American Conquest had yet another add-on that is not on Steam
It was made by another dev group
Its called Divided Nation (or something like that)
Its a completely different game that is all about real-time tactics.
Now that game...it felt like like total sh_t for me. I guess there's a good reason why its not on Steam.

Plus - it was even more pain to make it work so yeah.
