This VN is really fun to play - it has a lot of replay-ability to see different routes and figure out the storyline, as well as each character fitting some tropes but having diverse storylines.

No spoilers, just give it a shot! It was a lot of fun to play, and 4 years later, I'm going to play it again!

It took me a long time to get to this one. Being a Visual Novel developer myself, I understand the challenges of creating a story that is both personal yet resonates with an audience. It's a hard balance to achieve, but I think that EDD has done an admirable job, despite some shortcomings.

Pros

-I should start off by saying that the writing in this game is one of its strongest aspects. Especially in understanding the characters. Nothing is overly overt, and each girl feels very unique in their interactions. I also did appreciate how the main story diverges the more you choose to interact with a particular classmate. It was hard to choose between Katsuki and Yuika, but there wasn't a single main character I disliked by the end!

-Also, you have to give props to the game's (almost) full voice acting. You can tell the cast did their best, and I think they captured the look and feel of each girl well!

-Music was also pleasant, even if it isn't a soundtrack you'll be humming to yourself for a week straight. Very solid, overall, though.

-And lastly, length. While I have close to 11 hours on record, I would say the more accurate playtime hovered around the 6-8 hour range, which is great! It doesn't overstay its welcome, and you have enough time to connect with all the characters and fulfill their individual stories.

Room for improvement

-I'm not going to criticize the game's art, as I do believe the developer drew all the sprites on their own, which is a very respectable thing to do! It might not be perfect, but aside from some inconsistencies in the line thickness, I do believe that the deep contrast from sprites to CGs really shows the game's potential, should Wintermits choose to update the sprites in the future.

-Coding, however, while generally well done, did have a few issues here and there that made the overall experience lack impact. In particular some characters would layer over each other, and the result of the choices you made had one consistent instance where dialogue relating to your relationship with Haru would pop up, even if you were hanging out with another character. These are easy fixes to make, and would help polish the game to a nice shine.

-As for audio, I do think there were minor balancing issues. The rain in particular was very loud, and some scenes like the fireworks or phone buzz could have benefited from sound effects in order to make the player feel more immersed.

Conclusion

All in all, Every Day's Different is a very solid indie game that I wholly respect. It may not be perfection, but it doesn't need to be. It does its best and isn't shy about it! I think that if you're willing to give it a shot, you're in for a nice little story about maintaining friendship amidst life's hardships. I look forward to whatever comes after this from Snowfall Studio. And I promise I won't take nearly as long to get to it!

Keep in mind this is a one-route review (Katsuki);

This is really enjoyable for an amateur work. Cute, heartfelt, I can tell a lot of love went into it. Rough around the edges; some grammatical errors/typos, not the best writing ever in general, and the VA work isn't perfect, but it's still a lovely experience and a good game if you're looking for something cute, with some deeper moments, but nothing that's going to hit you too hard, unless perhaps you can very personally relate to some of the issues on display.

Side note on the VA thing; while yes, obviously not professional, I still enjoyed the performances, everyone involved clearly tried their best and really got into it. I was particularly happy with Katsuki and Haru's pronunciations and deliveries, though Yoko and Yukia managed to be very cute/interesting as well.

Worth the ten bucks to me, and I'll almost certainly go back for one or two of the other routes.

I finished 3 routes and love the characters a lot. I personally feel that they are likable and my personal favorite is Katsuki ( I'm a sucker for tsunderes) or Yoko ( can't go wrong with a childhood friend). I like the actors too! Thankful the game was able to come out and hope more projects will happen!

I came back to this game after not fully finishing it after like two years. Let me just say I just finished it. It was honestly so good for what it is. Each of the girls were actually likable which is kinda rare. I do adore katsuki the most though tbh. It's worth the buy.

Game's pretty good. The art is pretty dookie. but the voice acting and overall romance makes up for it. Genuinely a good visual novel. It's pretty long, so for $10 this game is well worth the money. If you like the long route, go for Katsuki ;)

Please excuse me for my messiness this is my first review ever.
This game was amazing...had a fun experience with it and I was so happy when I finished my first route (Katsuki). After finishing i'm really wanting more so if any sequels do appear in the future which probably wont sadly, I will be the first in line to buy. The Art work is great as well showing off the beauty of the girls. The only complaint I have is well I was taking Katsuki's route who is my favorite, I got dialogue references from something I haven't done which I assume was from another Girls route. Other than that, This game was probably my favorite dating sim I've ever tried. Great job to Snowfall and hope they keep the good work up. (Please make a DLC or sequel where you marry whoever you were going for, I wanna see my character get married to Tsuki :).

Wow, I just have to say that this visual novel has by far, exceeded my expectations. You are not looking at a masterpiece by any means, but believe me when I say, that you if you are a fan of wholesome, fun, cutesy slice of life, you will be doing yourself a disservice by not checking this game out. What is really great is the game is really cheap. For the price, you get a surprisingly long experience. I would estimate that your first route will take approximately 8-11 hours.

Every Day's Different follows a player named protagonist who just moved back to his hometown after living away for a number of years. In typical fashion, the MC transfers into the local school and meets a wide cast of charming ladies whom he quickly befriends.

Yoko is a girl whom the MC has known practically his whole life. She is the childhood friend who is outgoing, kind, a great cook, and very athletic. Like pretty much every childhood friend ever, she is very happy that the MC has moved back in town and of course, would want nothing more than for their friendship to blossom into something more.

Yuika would be considered the typical flirty, pretty, rich girl. While it may be a cliche for a girl that checks these boxes to be stuck up, Yuika is anything but that. She is a very caring, playful, and takes every opportunity she can to help and tease others, always with the best of intentions.

Haru is the shy, more reclusive out of the bunch. She has a passion for art and photography, and is always nervous about becoming a burden on others do to her health, economic, and emotional issues that she struggles with. Despite being shy, as you get to know you, you will see she does have a pretty strong assertive side to her as well.

Katsuki is everyone's favorite trope, the tsundere. She is feisty, mean when you first meet her, quick to react, slow to open up. Despite this, she is very protective of the ones she loves and works hard to better herself and those around her.

Throughout the story, you will encounter various events where you will learn a lot more about the girls. Even on the route that is common to every girl, you will be given ample opportunity to learn about the other 3 girls you are not actively pursing, should you choose to go back after your first play through to experience their route. Some of these common route events are pretty significant and can almost be considered the climax of the girl's story.

While there are decisions that are made in this game, it is really easy to figure out what choices will lead to locking in the route with the girl of your choice. I wish these choices made more of an impact as there are a lot, more than average I would say, and they are, for the most part, fairly insignificant.

For better or for worse, pursing each of the girls really shines when the MC and the girl have their one on one interactions. It is fun talking to the girls, but every event in the game is almost exactly the same, you are just participating in the event with the girl you are pursing in your play through. I would have liked to have seen more unique events that were exclusive to the different girls instead of seeing a lot of the same on each play through. Still, the fluffy conversations were so cute and really give you that cutesy slice of life love fix if you want to see cute young couples fall in love. Each girl is really fun to get to know and learn more about. It is great seeing how each approaches finding their first love.

Speaking of events, while there is a lot of content in this visual novel, it is a little sad how some scenes end a little too early. Sometimes it will be the middle of the day and the story instantly progresses to the following day. Sometimes scenes are not as fleshed out as much as I think they should have been. The worst offender of this in my opinion is in Haru's route where the dance scene towards the end of the game ends in the middle of the dance. Every other girl got the rest of the night written where the MC walks home with the girl but this is missing in Haru's route for some reason. I was really let down in that moment. Moments like this are a common occurance where I just wish there was that slight extra bit of story added to a particular day to really feel like a lot happened in that day instead of constantly moving to the next day. It would have been nice to see these day's added with more unique events. I would have liked to see more girls coming over to the MC's house. The only one that does is Katsuki. I would have loved to see Yoko and the MC's mom catch up again. I would have loved to have seen more interaction with Katsuki at her work. I would have loved to have seen more lovey dovey scenes with Yuika as the MC and her would have had the most physical chemistry.

I say all this just to critique what I wanted more of. What is there is really good and I don't want this to detract from what was truly impressive. There is a lot here and I am still shocked at how much this small visual novel really presents you with. I was fully engrossed into the life of the MC and I loved spending time with the 4 main girls. The events were so good, I just hoped there could have been more as it was so good.

This game is almost entirely fully voice acted which I was really surprised by. Every girl is about 98% fully voice acted with only some occasional lines not voiced for some reason. Perhaps they were lines added later into development, I am not sure why. Side character's voice acting is a little inconsistent. Some side characters are voiced, some are not. Some that are voiced and make appearances later in the story lose their voice acting. Not a big deal, just gotta point it out. Overall, the voice acting is really well delivered with only a few instances where I felt the lines undelivered the impact of the moment. What I will say further though, is it seems like Yuika's audio quality was slightly lower than the other girls' which is a real shame. It is really noticeable since Katsuki's audio quality is easily the best of the 4.

The art in this game, while not 10/10, is really good. it is my understanding that the creator has been really self conscious about their art and I want to assure them that I think, that while not perfect, did its job (regarding the sprites and the early CG's). I think Yuika might be the lowest quality sprite of the 4 and Haru and Katsuki stand out as having the most well drawn sprites. The early CG's certainly are not as pretty as the later ones (as I assume the other CG's were drawn by a different artist), and I do think Yuika gets the short end of the stick yet again as a lot of her CG's are drawn in the less fancy art style (come on, no true kissing CG?!). Yoko has some absolutely amazing CG's and stands out as having the best in my opinion.

The last critique that I have is I would have liked to have seen the MC given more of a facial identity. Likely to make him a self insert, the MC has no face in any of the CG's which looks really funny and out of place in my opinion especially since the CG's look really good most of the time. The MC is very well written, he isn't just some generic MC (while he technically might be, he was very likable to me). He has a lot of issues with his own, and while not fully fleshed out, he has a past that frequently comes up that gives some insight into why he acts and behaves the way that he does. Along with many of the other girls, I really would have loved to have seen some of the plot points regarding him resolved, such as that with his dad, but I do not think it was super necessary (Sequel hopefully?).

Lastly, I do think there could have been a few last minute polishes in the game. At one point, I am pretty sure dialogue from another route creeps in (Mom's note on the fridge mentions going with 2 different girls back to back), scenes going from sunset to mid-day afternoon, sun shining through glass at nighttime, character descriptions not matching sprites, etc.

Love absolutely everything about this game. The art style is amazing, the voice overs are done beautifully and fit the characters really well! I fell in love with all the girls immedietly and it was truly a fun experience getting to know them and finding out more about them! I played this game on my twitch stream and everyone in the chat really enjoyed it as well! I found myself really liking Haru a lot throughout the gameplay, but have yet to make it to an ending! Am going to be playing this VN a lot~ I highly suggest you take a look at the game! You can tell there is a lot of love and energy put into the game!

Summary

Every Day's Different is one of the only VNs where I immediately purchased it after reading the summary and at only $9.99, it's a steal. This VN excels at what it set out to be and delivers a satisfying read, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Katsuki is Awesome

I have to get this out there because of how fond I am of this character - what initially sold me was the design of Katsuki. Thanks to Grisaia's Yumiko, I have a huge soft spot for level-headed tsunderes with an attitude that takes a really long time to go 'dere'. Everything about the way this character is written just checked all my boxes. The casting of her VA is spot-on, her character design is super appealing with amazing outfits and CGs, her dialogue is consistent, and
the confession part was so well executed! Overall I'd buy the entire game again just for her alone.

Positives

Here are just some of the things that I think the developers did a great job with and would like to recognize.

  • Consistently solid VA. This is an indie project, but it's clear they spared no expenses in the voice acting department. This is actually the first English-voiced VN I've read and while it took me a minute to get used to, I grew to like it a lot.
  • Polish. I didn't notice any typos, weird sentence structuring, mixed art styles, or anything to indicate that this wasn't developed by some seriously talented people. This being Snowfall Studio's debut VN is super impressive.
  • Character interactions and development that takes place beyond the MC. You know how sometimes you read a VN and it's like you become a black hole to everyone around? Every Day's Different handles this well by having characters with fleshed out backgrounds, realistic problems, and making sure not to forget that the 4 girls were friends before you showed up. It feels like they care about each other and develop without a save-the-day-white-knight protagonist.
  • Choices!! I've never played a VN with so many choices before! The developers deserve a reward for doing this in Ren'Py of all engines. What makes them even better is many of these don't have a clear right/wrong answer, and just influence how the story plays out. I actually don't know if who you choose to text is the only factor in deciding which route you get on, but as a reader, it's so much more immersive when you're playing and the MC suddenly says "and that person is...(character)" when it comes time. It's a little thing but getting on a route by the choices you made throughout the game and not just simply clicking into it once makes for a much better overall experience.
  • Texting. This fit the setting and I think played an important developmental role for the MC, the one-on-one relationships, and with the MC and the group as a whole.
  • MC's dad. There was a great deal of tension with these scenes and I like the way they were done.
  • The serious tones. This just makes the characters and simple scenes so much richer.
  • We have to mention the art alone because it's all around just stellar.
  • [*]Holy MILF.

Closing Remarks

In a purely good way, I drew a lot of connections between Every Day's Different and Doki Doki Literature Club, Doki Doki Blue Skies, Katawa Shoujo, and Princess Evangile. My favorite similarity is probably Natsuki and Katsuki, both in personality and name. Yuika definitely reminds me of PE's Ayaka who was my favorite there. I have no idea if the developer is familiar with any of these VNs/characters, but clearly they have :chefkiss: taste regardless because this story's cast is phenomenal.

Lastly, I actually have yet to finish the other routes! Rather than just skipping through what I've already read, I'm waiting for this to leave my active memory because I'd like to read through it as a whole again. In all honesty, this is a tough choice because I'm dying to get closure in other areas. This is just more proof that the writing and characters were fleshed out.

Thank you Snowfall Studio for creating this for us to enjoy, and I can't wait for your next VN if you decide to develop one!

I bought the VN, out of curiosity, considering I'm pretty fond of this style of game. I saw someone I follow on Twitter RT the game's release announcement, so I had to give it a look.

The art style is fairly simple yet really pleasant to look at, considering the emotions each character shows is fairly easy to read. The scenery is often pretty well-done, and even if there are some decors that don't match with what is supposed to happen (there is one particular scene where you can hear the rain yet out of the window, it's a bright sun), but it's nothing that really makes the game unplayable or anything, just pointing some stuff.

The story in itself is really enjoyable to read through. It's not hard to understand, even for someone who's not a native english speaker, which I am, yet it reflects really well whatever is happening. The emotions and feelings you are supposed to get from any scene or any character is pretty well written in my opinion. Also, the fact that few situations are insanely close, if not similar to something one can actually have had to live in his life makes it even easier to actually feel like you could be the main character, reflect into him in a way.

A good thing about the story is that there are many choices to make, each one leading to a different situation, and snowballing into a story relating to whatever your decisions lead to, and that's a good thing. It gives a lot of freedom to the "reader" to actually feel like his choices really have an impact. There a several VNs that, while being really good, are very "closed" in that aspect, which is fine for some, but could be bothersome for others that want to really live the VN they are reading.

The characters are all enjoyable in their own way, they all have their specificities and their "issues" I would say. It's really interesting to learn about them more, to understand them as well. That way you can feel more attracted or at least more sympathetic with one in particular. The voice acting is also really enjoyable and you can feel the emotions in how they talk, depending on the scene, and even tho there are few moments where the VA is either missing or didn't work for me, but it's only one or 2 sentences in hundreds, so it's not really that bad. Props to all of them for the great work, I really digged it. Some might like to just read without sound, and you can mute it in the options, so you can enjoy the game both way !

The musics and sounds are pretty good. You can just listen to them as a background noise and you won't get tired of them, and even tho some may be louder than others, you can just lower or rise the volume however you want. But I'll be honest, I put it pretty low because I wanting to enjoy the VA more.

Overall, the game is great, I had a really good time playing it, and even tho I did "play" it slowly, it took me a good 10 hours to only finish one specific path, which is honestly really good, considering the game is fairly cheap imo. If you like VNs, the few images and the Steam video are making you wonder if you should buy it, go for it. I wasn't sure if I was gonna do it at first, but man I really didn't regret it in the end. Great work from everyone involved in the project, I had a great time, and looking forward to read the other stories after some time, once I forgot a bit about the "main" story and can live again the VN. Thank you

After his parents' divorce, our protagonist moves in with his mother and transfers to a new high school just one semester before graduating. He reunites with his childhood friend and gets to know other members of her school club. How will life go for him from now on?

I liked...

  • The atmosphere (it's a wholesome story that's fairly grounded, if somewhat naive)
  • The voice acting (it's nicely done and helps to bring the characters to life)
  • The presentation (I especially enjoyed the music, character designs, sprite artwork)

I didn't care for...

[*] Some minor flaws in presentation (at a few places the script doesn't match the visuals; in one scene where rain is supposed to be heard from outside it's mixed way too loud)

Verdict

Every Day's Different is a decent entry in the "help girls overcome their problems" genre. It's got much more personality than its generic name lets on, helped a great deal by the voice acting. If you're looking for a wholesome romantic VN, you're in the right place.

While Every Day's Different is an early access title, it's already looking quite polished and the voice over was surprisingly decent. I didn't run into any game breaking bugs however the default volume was all over the place (a little bit of fiddling in the options thankfully corrected that).

The main characters do come across as your standard anime tropes though it's done relatively well. It's only the first chapter so hopefully their development and growth is extensive (and rewarding!) as the story moves forward.

TL;DR
Looks and sounds pretty good and I'm interested to see where things go. Also, Yuika is best girl.
