Follow Captain Ailfred and Lieutenant Shakar after they are exiled from their home kingdom and try to find peace in a world that seems to love war. Get help from an unexpected place--a wandering Abeyan father and daughter, Habar and Niomi who have a secret they vowed to never reveal. Meet and recruit the fencer Celeste, the daughter of one of the richest men in all of Kairon. Navigate needing the help of a monk named Gall who hates Ailfred for his role in the destruction of his homeland. There are nine main characters in total--each with unique personalities, motives, and story arcs. Each character also brings different strategic tool sets to overcome your seemingly insurmountable foes.
The battle system of Divided Reigns has been redesigned from the ground up to make each battle fun, challenging, and feel fresh. Different weapons grant the character wielding it different attack types. Does the enemy have a steel breastplate? Thrust attacks will probably not work well, but Side or Trip attacks might! Just found out the enemy is weak to ranged attacks? Swap that greatsword for a crossbow mid-battle to maximize your attacks. Use the enemy art to try to guess which of the eight different types of attacks will work best, find those weaknesses, and exploit them!

Far exceeded all expectations. Very different, but fun combat system, but the story was by far the best part. I did regular difficulty and it spikes pretty hard toward the end, to the point where I wasn't having very much fun with the tedious encounters, but the story was good enough to get me through. It warns you once you hit the point of no longer being able to adjust the difficulty down and I didn't even think about it because I had been cruising along smoothly, but knowing what I know now, I would absolutely turn it down.
Game's actually pretty good, this is entirely for the underwater water temple.
Edit: I change my mind, this is now also for the lightning temple puzzle
A full featured RPG game with emphasis on tactical variance. Extremely well balanced in hard mode. If you've never played before, expect 100 to 400 hours of game play depending on how much you grind and explore. This game has an excellent online walkthrough, but I recommend not using it until after mid-game to collect what you may have missed. Divided Reigns is a hidden gem that will stay relevant for decades.
This game hits all the nostalgic fun you'll find in a SNES or Genesis RPG but finds away to stand out on it's own. The characters are very good, the story is great and the combat system really makes this game unique. Very good game. Would recommend.
Very good JRPG. A true labour of love. Storyline is reminiscent of FFIV and FFVI. It succeeds as these classics did to tell a strong story with a light hearted tone. Battle system is top notch. Feels both simple and rich, and managed to keep me engaged all the way.
