"RADICAL DREAMERS - Le Trésor Interdit -" was released in 1996 as a standalone game, and has not been easily accesible for play in recent years. Players can experience the story that went on to become the basis for CHRONO CROSS in an audio novel format. Here, an alternate story of the RADICAL DREAMERS, a group of three thieves - Serge, Kid and Magil - unfolds in a parallel world.*You can switch between the new and old versions of the 3D models and illustrations.
*The 3D models, illustrations, font and background filter cannot be toggled separately. They will all be switched together.

Insufficient Vram, game keeps crashing.
Played this back on PS1 and hadn’t touched it since, so I was excited to give it a try.
Unfortunately, it seems buggy. I was able to play the first 90 minutes just fine, but it started freezing reliably around the Hydra Marshes. You can sort of play around it but the developer probably needs another patch.
My computer is new and up-to-date, so sadly, I think it’s the software. (Played as of November 2024 on Windows 11.)

Worth every penny. I grew up with this game being my first JRPG. It still stands the test of time with its character design, turn based combat, and world building. Soundtrack is a solid 9/10, or 10/10 for me personally. Give it a chance!
Tried on two different computers, had multiple crashes while playing.
Runs like $h it on the steamdeck if you can get it to run at all. I love this game though. I could never not recommend it.

I'm coming from the assumption that anyone considering buying this game has already played the original ps1 version, so I'll jump straight to it.
Yes, the updated graphics aren't that much. Yes, the prerendered backgrounds might look a bit muddied (though I particularly find them gorgeous). Yes, the new portraits are, at best, neutral, and, at worst, an actual downgrade ( lynx serge, looking at you ). But, in the end, these are all nitpicks.
The only real issue I faced was that, for some reason, the screen always tears if I play in fullscreen, which forces me to use windowed mode. It's not a big deal, but it's weird nonetheless.
In the end of the day, it's the Chrono Cross we all know and love, in an accessible format and with an interesting new look.
P.S.: never touched radical dreamers.
It's an absolute CRIME that this game is as broken as it is on the OLED Steam Deck. It's advertised as "verified" however be sure to lower your TDP, frame rate, settings to classic, and allow menus to render. Launcher screen is black.
Legendary game turned SQEX abandonware. Still gets a bloody thumb up from me.
Tried all sorts of things including bleeding edge experimental and no change.. still freezes after a couple minutes and needs a full reboot :/
Despite everything... It's Chrono Cross! Incredibly memorable music, lovable artstyle, and the most PS1 JRPG story out there. And you also get to play the officially translated Radical Dreamers spin off.
I encountered zero bugs at all. No crashes, freezes, error popups, etc. Played with Windows 10. YMMV of course but that's what refunds are for.
Played pass the 7 hour mark and started encountering several freezes, can't seem to progress. Already tried verifying game files but nothing seems to work. I'ts a pity because its one of my favorite games but this poor excuse of a remaster wont cut it. I'll change my review when the game is fixed.
Does not work on steamdeck. It goes to black screen, I hear the music but nothing else.
Chrono Cross is in my top 5 favorite rpgs ever made. When I first heard there was going to be a remaster released, I almost shit my pants. Being able to see the entire game in a rejuvenated light was amazing. The only thing that sucked about it was the fps issues, but that has since been long resolved. If you were already a fan of CC, then this version will be nothing but a treat for you.
This port is broken. I requested a refund. I'm very disappointed that this game with such an illustrious history got such a bad port.
Embarrassingly bad port. Constant freezing, crashing.
One of my favorite games of all time, but sadly I am leaving a negative review because the game keeps freezing/crashing repeatedly. Tried multiple solutions and nothing seems to fix the issue.
The mechanics and story get better as it progresses so anyone who might initially be disappointed that it is not quite like chrono trigger, at about half way through the story it links more to chrono trigger and it actually ends up a more complex story. Also as there isn't an MP system as such it makes regular battles more interesting as you're not just saving up MP for boss battles.
Nevertheless I would say that the characters don't quite have the charm of the chrono trigger ones, although that is partly because of the much larger cast with about half of them being some form of joke characters.
Generally an accessible and not particularly difficult game (although there a couple of bosses that are a bit more challenging).
A gorgeous soundtrack is another plus.
It's an amazing game, sadly the port doesn't run on my PC nor Steam Deck (OLED)
very grindy, it somehow has less in depth combat than CT, the story becomes convoluted + doesn't deliver on everything i'd like from CT and the visual novel, and there are some noticeable framerate drops in combat, but the characters talk funny and the music is nice and harle is hot.
I've played several times and cannot find anywhere to save. When I open up my inventory it won't let me save and that's after 3 hours of play. Tried to play on a few occasional on 2 different gaming units. Just not working out.
Never got to play it when it came out, so I get to experience this masterpiece of the first time. Still holds up beautifully!
