Always get the first loan from the banker asap. It will kickstart your economy and high contempt = lots of money and supplies.
Meh, worth 5$ at most. More of a silly drama story you have to watch...not much true management,
While short, and there are tragic endings, as well as a locked-in death of a character that you definitely care about, the bad end isn't locked in like the games I have recently reviewed.
The story is good, and the game is deep and has great lore. There are canned moments that have to happen that I don't agree with, but they are few and far between. the game is kinda short, but that's just for one playthrough and I got a rather good ending for my first try.
Its worth it for the price of 19.99
This was a highly original medieval tale told through a sidescrolling interface. It did well at approximating the difficult decisions that a noble ruler must make. I finished it in 15 hours and was very satisfied with the experience.
I love this narrative-driven resource management-sim-lite game. It’s set in a beautifully-realised medieval world, brought to life by the gorgeous pixel art, which somehow manages to convey deep emotion through its minimalist animations. The dialogue is superb - funny, moving and utterly convincing - and choices really do seem to matter in this game. The characterisation is deeply contextual: this royal family is, like all of us, victims of their circumstances, only in their case it’s a little more extreme. The management side of the game, which bleeds profusely into the narrative, consists in handing out (or not handing out) resources to a never-ending stream of petitioners. This main mechanic neatly places you in the shoes of the beleaguered King. Indeed, a main theme of the game - the fundamentally inhuman aspect of the whole concept of royalty - means that you are often damned if you do, and damned if you don’t, and winning in this horrid game of thrones often means losing in a wider moral and ethical sense. It is, essentially, a game about a family being torn apart because of their (supposedly) privileged position in society. But there are also moments of tenderness, levity and love. A wonderful game. I’m excited for the upcoming sequel.
Good game. Having to play multiple times to get all achievements is a bit of a drag, so I waited a while before doing it again.
didn't expect to nearly cry
A cute story game with some stressful resource management. There are a lot of decisions to be made, and true to real life, you will regret some after you make them... You can always play the game back through, though it seems all events are in a set order, so rather than a different experience, you will only be able to make different choices.
Yes, Your Grace is a very well writen game where you act as a king, and with all the responsabilities coming with it. The game greets you with attaching characters and hilarious scenes, and unless you are an heartless jerk, it WILL make you high on feelium at some point.
This being said, the gameplay is simple and repetitive, not focused on action so it may not be for everyone as it's primarly a narrative game. As long as you enjoy text narratives and can take the time to appreciate pixel art, you are good to go.
It would add that this game have a good balance in its art style with pretty nice soundtracks and nice looking pixel art (which let room for imaginating the details).
Very much enjoyed, good quick game to click through. Some interesting choices and concepts and a good mix and maze to work through.
Overall Story is great, will play through a 2nd time for sure.
In the end, I did it all for Dusty.
Interesting play! I enjoyed it.
Chill game. fun gameplay. pretty cool.
Wonderful game, highly recommend it. It's about family, and that's what's so powerful about it.
was annoyed that i got a bad ending after all that work i put into making my kingdom prosper - at least my lesbian daughter got a happy ending
Very fun! Loved potato-head
Story a little more interesting than I anticipated. But the gameplay quickly becomes repetitive - Maybe if it was a little shorter, the experience would become a little more enjoyable (?)
this game has a huge problem where your resource management and "story-driven choices" don't actually impact the storyline at all, only the characters next to you (and of which, is only decided by one particular choice per each character by an ultimatum or trigger). the game, however, is pretty to look at, and there are little moments in the game that make you appreciate the characters therein. all meaning that, in summary, this game is a good looking pixel art point-and-click with the illusion of choice and (ultimately meaningless) resource management that takes about 5 hours to complete, with short but sweet dialogue. I played through the game twice with completely different playstyles to confirm the fact that said playstyles did not effect the choices that determine the character endings in any way.
Be a good king and you will be rewarded , i will spoil nothing but i will say if you are expecting really hard decisions and the game to scew you constantly forget it , this is a more narrative driven experience.
Nice, entertaining story, mostly fun with some sad twists. Time is spent pleasantly.
One the downside it is quite short, practically just an one shot game, with no replayability.
Finished in around 10 hours, so I would rather suggest to get in on discount 18$ seems too much for the content we get.
Make small choices and bigger scheme of things.
Deal with things you cannot influence.
Story is interesting enough,
but the railroading still feels bit forced.
A Regal Tale of Choices and Consequences
Yes, Your Grace is a gem of a game that masterfully combines storytelling, resource management, and tough decision-making into an unforgettable experience. It places you in the shoes of a medieval king, and every choice you make carries weight, shaping the fate of your kingdom, your family, and your people.
The pixel art style is absolutely stunning, creating a world that feels both charming and alive. From the grandeur of the throne room to the simple homes of your subjects, every detail has been crafted with care. The soundtrack further enhances the immersion, with hauntingly beautiful melodies that evoke the emotions of a ruler under constant pressure.
What makes Yes, Your Grace stand out is its deep narrative and compelling characters. Your family and advisors have their own personalities and struggles, making your interactions with them feel meaningful. The dilemmas you face—whether to help a struggling farmer, ally with a suspicious noble, or prepare for an impending war—are morally complex and never feel black-and-white.
The gameplay strikes a perfect balance between managing your limited resources and advancing the story. Each week brings new challenges, and the sense of accomplishment when you successfully navigate a crisis is immensely satisfying. The game’s pacing is excellent, with moments of tension balanced by lighter, often humorous interactions with your subjects.
At its heart, Yes, Your Grace is a story about leadership, sacrifice, and the weight of responsibility. It’s not just a game—it’s an emotional journey that will stay with you long after the credits roll.
If you enjoy narrative-driven games with impactful choices and a touch of strategy, Yes, Your Grace is an absolute must-play.
8/10

A very well-written game. I hope anyone that enjoys stories where you get to make some tough decisions gives this game a try. The game has the same vibe as a TellTale game, but with the difference being there is a clear GOOD and BAD ending to this game.
Checklist:
Music: Really good. BGM is easy to listen to, and the welsh/celtic rock song for the credits and main menu is very fun to listen to.
Character design: Pretty good for pixels. I could tell the difference between almost every npc, and the character splash art at the end of the end felt very modern.
Aesthetic: I really enjoy the style. It's very clean pixel art. It's not common to see games in this style so it was a refreshing take on art and game design.
Accessibility: You need to be someone who enjoys reading a lot of text, as a large majority of the game is comprised of reading character dialogue. There is no voice overs, just some mumbled gibberish.
Game difficulty: Pretty easy. The first few weeks seem like there are some tough choices, but you learn pretty quick to listen to the petitioner speaking to your King character about their plight and needs. Depending on how they sound when they ask for help, you can tell right away if you should actually give them aid, or call them out on their bull crap.
Multiple playthroughs: Kinda. This game is only best played by doing two routes. Good route, or bad route. There isn't multiple endings aside from doing things the ethically right way, or the morally corrupt way.
Price Point: I was gifted the game, so I don't know how expensive it is in the store. But if it's anything under $25 USD, then it's a pretty fair price point. I would still recommend buying it at a sale price though, for the sole fact that the game is REALLY short. You'll do an entire play through in about 6 hours. Maybe less if you're not too worried about your choices and the impact of your choices.
Cons:
There's only one thing that really bugged me during the entire game. There is a pretty clear situation that pops up pretty early on that you (the player) probably would never agree to do. However, the situation is written into the story and isn't actually a choice the player can make. Long story short, I didn't enjoy being locked out of a choice that I would never have made myself, but unfortunately, it's just part of the story. One of those times where what the player expects from a Kingdom Management Sim RPG and what the narrator (or game dev) intended don't really align. I don't see the game devs as bad people for this forced choice, but at the end of the day, I still I wish I could've completely avoided the literal main plot of the game.
Overall: The game is great. Definitely consider picking it up if you like a gripping story. It's a bit TOO short, so it might be a good idea to pick it up when it goes on sale.
This was the most beautifully written story I have played recently. I really missed the story driven games and being able to empathize with the characters. It was basic, meaningful and had a very special impact on me. I want to remember this game probably until my last breath. I think every gamer should give this game a try, you won't regret it.
I wish there were more choices. Some of the most upsetting parts of the game are apparently unavoidable and you aren't given a choice. Still an interesting game, and I enjoyed it for the most part.
Pretty cool game with an amazing sound track. I'd definitely buy it when its on sale though as the game is very short. Also unless you care about achievements there isn't much to be offered from doing multiple full playthroughs. With some small exceptions the story progresses in a rather linear way and the decisions you can make aren't super game changing. That being said, the first playthrough for this game is really fun and the story is great the first time you experience it.
Not really my thing-- I bought this game because I gave a shot on the "narrative story game" genre and realized I don't really like it.
I'm only giving it a "recommend" if you like the interactive fiction-style games, because I think this was well made overall with the graphics and overall concept.
If you know you don't like those slow-burn, narrative style games-- skip it. This won't change your mind.
It was quite fun to start with but got a bit boring and once I've completed it I won't play it again. I love the style and idea behind but i think the full price of £15 is a bit steep and it's better value during a sale.
yes i recommended because:
1. Story: 8/8 (unpredictable )
2. Gameplay: point click decision matter 8/8 (stimulate brain)
3. Soundtrack: 7/8 medieval times ( match )
4. Graphic: pixel 7/8 ( clear )
5. Fun: 7/8 (balance)
alright enjoy then !
sequel will be released soon
Pretty sweet game. Had some emotional moments and shed some tears. I liked this game and the storytelling and can´t wait for the second game to come out.
The writing is naive at best, characters are shallow and surface deep. You are also pressured into choices that most of the times make absolutely no sense. World lore also tends to stumble over itself with various schrodinger situations. With such quality of writing, I do not look forward to a sequel. I regret wasting my 5$
(FYI I completed this game on my alt account, but its owned on this account.)
The game will make you cry, not for losing the game but for losing your daughter, the game will enrage you. Not because its difficult but because you want to brutally murder the King Ivo, you will feel loss, happiness, bliss, hatred, love, laughter, pride, inspiration, and so much more with the amazing soundtrack to accompany your experience!
With all my heart I give this a 10/10 review, and cant wait for the Sequel! Also we need a Yes your grace total conversion mod for Crusader Kings II so I can personally crush the enemies of DAVERN!
I loved the music, the art style and the tactical decision making.
I wish i couldnt remember the game, so i could play it again.
this game is wonderfull.
its just like im a king. must consider manything.
very recomended.
A good game. HOWEVER, not worth it for the base price, I wouldn't pay more than 5€ for it (I bought it for sale for about 4€)
While narratively it is very well rounded and manages to immerse you and make you attached to the characters and the story happening around them, the game itself is not really amazing.
I could make a long, extensive review, but I'll keep it short because ain't nobody got time for that (and I'm too lazy to do one right now).
The weakest point is that most choices don't matter, you're just managing resources. You could be a tyrant and still get a good ending as long as you make the right choices at the decisive moments. I personally managed to get the best ending first try, reason being I accumulated resources as much as I could while investing in any project I needed - still managed to end up rich with everything constructed and well prepared for all the conflicts in the game. Managing, while interesting in how it's done, is ultimately not very interactive and starts to feel boring after a while, more-so seeing how easy it was to do so. To add to this, with my original point: most decisions are irrelevant story-wise. The ones that are important you will KNOW, because either you made these things happen or are evidently important just due to how different they are to normal interactions.
This means that most of the game will be you having to read through a couple of irrelevant requests, while balancing your resources without it being much of a challenge.
I also don't like how biased the game is with the middle sister, the one that likes to sword-fight. She's a lesbian, somehow you can just accept it as if it were completely normal despite being the medieval ages. I wouldn't be mad if the game actually had the cojones to make your character have a great distaste for homos and you actively having to make decisions that make him dislike them less and less as the story goes on (or even more, depending on what you want). But at the very least if you want to roleplay you can always not accept her relationship with the barbarian friend she has been hanging out with, who happens to be the daughter of the barbarian leader who wanted your first-daughter's hand (very coincidental, I know). To add to this, she will want to "see the world" and "explore" and the game will treat it as you doing something wrong for not wanting your... 15, 16 year old daughter to go with another girl of the same age out in the Medieval world without anyone to take care of her. Very responsible from the dev's team for making you look as the bad person in this situation and enabling some teen's whims.
Not to mention the girl is nothing more than a brat that likes to annoy her big sister and doesn't follow any rules, she essentially doesn't want to be bound by any duty or responsibility, despite the damage that her actions cause to the people around her. And this trend goes on until the end of the game, when you eventually have to decide to either let her go on her own as the biggest move of consent to this type of irresponsible behaviour - ultimately becoming as irresponsible as her - or you can... lock her up in her bedroom to think about her actions and why she can't leave unattended, without any funds, alone with just another girl to "adventure". Somehow the game still consents her actions and makes her look as a good character by trying to justify her antics, when it's nothing more than the petulant actions of a rebellious teen with no pretension of growing up or taking any responsibility. I guess we needed a boss girl in the game somehow... and the mother being an absolute queen by supporting you and helping you go through your torment with everything that's happening isn't enough.
I do like the rest of the cast, though. Very well done on that regard. Some parts of the story (I won't spoil which, but you can imagine if you have played the game) actually hurt quite a lot and made me very invested into the story. If you want to relax on a chill, resource-management game with some story decision and a decent story to tell, this is the one for you.
However, not worth the 16,79€ - I bought it for 4€ I believe when it was on sale, and personally I wouldn't buy this for more than 5€. The next game looks really good, though. We'll have to see how that one comes out.
The narrative grabbed me by the shoulders and much like a movie, wouldn't let me stop it until I finished the story. I don't know if it's worth replaying (multiple endings or different decisions making a real difference) but I can say that it's absolutely worth it for the $3 I spent for it.
I quite like it, the story and characters are pretty good and it takes some turns that genuinely surprised me. The resource management is a little basic, but I actually don't mind, it serves as a kind of mini game to interact with while enjoying the story.
My 15h include 3 playthroughs to get all the achievements, the first run took about 7h. While not a very long experience, I feel like i got my moneys worth, it's a good game with a lot of heart and you can tell the people making it cared.
One of the best stories I'v ever experienced, I enjoyed it so much I gifted a copy to a friend. If your looking for the immersion of being a king, shouldering the burden of its people and navigating dangerous and often amusing political intrigue look no further. I very much look forward to the sequel and any change to support this amazing development team.
Where do I start! I loved the experience for the discounted price. Was the game worth the full price? I can't tell you bc i buy most of my games on sale anyway 😅
I especially loved how the developers didn't take the expected path of making the story too ruthless, punishing players that try to make "good" choices in the long run (I've had... a lot of past experiences of such which worried me but alas)
I can see why other people are upset bc your choices don't matter for the BIG story stuff (cruel canon events still happen but i can forgive that for a proper story payout and development)
======SPOILERS=====
I LOVED HOW CEDANI WAS GHE REAL MVP HAHAHAHAHA YES GIRL I NEVER REGRETTED GIVING YOU ALL YOU WANTED HAHAHAHA rip to all the animal companions that were lost but man i loved how even a small snail had an impact!
Poor lorsuli... she deserved better but at least the rest of her family lived happily (depending on your choices ha)
It was a fun game and I'm looking forward to the sequel with the rightful heir ;)
I did this all in one sitting. I bought all the upgrades I could.
And while I couldn't quite find the best run due to my personal screw ups. I at least showed the main villain a piece of my mind.
This is a game that makes you think. And think hard about your choices. And I can FIRMLY appreciate that.
You did good, devs. You did good. Pick this game up, and I can't wait for the sequel, Snowfall.
This game was neat, but it doesn't really have any gameplay. It doesn't matter what choices you make you end up having some event be _just_ out of reach to prove to you that your choices matter. They don't. If they did I should have been able to kill Ivo after he decided to undo the entire plan. Yes it would have ended the game, that's the ending _I_ wanted after such a stupid plot point...
It's just not fun. Steam deck also has the bare "minimum" for support. Only the right trackpad works. A, thumbstick, or any other button isn't supported.
Hoping I can get this refunded. Save your money, even if it's on sale.
For a game about choices, yours are surprisingly meaningless. There's a few key decisions throughout the story that have massive implications for the ending, but very little strategy or meaningful thought goes into those. And once resources allow it, the game becomes a yes-button simulator for everything else.
The story was decent though!
The game mechanics are very fun! The story is very not fun!
A game centered around decisions should be centered around "Informed Decisions", not random decisions where you have little to no way of knowing (or can't have any way of calculation or guessing) the potential consequence because it was a very 'random' outcome.
Many decisions that should matter don't, and decisions that shouldn't matter do.
Being 'powerless' to do anything about your daughter's "situation" is bogus.
Decided to quit the game after 5 hours of playing and waiting for it to get good. If you want to play as a weak "king" who faints whenever somebody farts, don't let me stop you. The guys words mean absolutely nothing, he can't even control his own children.
The management aspect also stinks since you can lose the same amount happiness when you refuse to feed a village that was devastated by a flood and when you refuse to scratch some peasant's ass. There's no real choice in the game as well, a lot of negative reviews have already pointed it out (the Choices Matter tag am I right).
Overall, a game of all time. The only thing it has going for it is the art design, the pixel art looks great. The music is good at first but will irritate you when you hear it for the 100th time
Story is Half-ass, Choices are meaningless except for a few, and it feels a bit unfinished. I would recommend playing the Banner Saga if you want to play a more complete and engaging game where choices matter and where the story is good which is similar/in the style of this game. Overall this is alright but I wouldn't really recommend unless your really like these kinds of games
Short game that can be completed in a night or two. I enjoyed the story. Was worth buying on sale.
I love world building games and choices matter stories, and this game meets both criteria! A nice story with interesting mechanics while not being too complicated. There are multiple endings, so it has nice replay value; although, I think there are only 5 endings?
Decide what kind of king you are; do you value your family more than the crown? Do you help your subjects, even if you don't directly benefit from it? Are you a ruthless leader willing to make the tough decisions?
I'm so excited to see what the sequel is like!!
Get on the train and enjoy the railroad, because you’re not getting off. This game advertises role playing as a King who has to make hard and lasting choices. Let set the record straight. THEY ARE NO CHOICES in this game. The story and visuals are great, don’t get me wrong. However, this is purely a resource management game. Non of the dialogue of the petitioners matters. The real question do you trade some resource (or an agent for a turn) for more resource later. Even quest that seem to give a choice, don’t.
An example below *beware spoiler*
Your daughter decides she likes another girl
1st choice: I don’t want my daughter staring in girl on girl action. Ban other girl coming back. She runs away.
2nd choice: fine! Fuck it. do what ever you want. Runs away anyway.
3rd choice: You know what. Engagement to wealthy guy to you. She leaves.
No matter what you do. She gone anyways and nothing happens either. so it doesn’t matter which you pick. All choices are bad and don’t matter anyways.
Now, I do think it’s a really neat game. Buy it at a discount and enjoy a great story for the price of a drink. But understand that’s all this game is. A linear story with resource management added in.
It's a choice-based game where most of your choices don't matter at all and you have very little agency as the player to affect anything in the story. It's a glorified visual novel masquerading as a medieval politics simulator. Despite all its flaws, this game is ultimately held back by one major contrived plot point.
At the end of the first act, the King, who's son you promised your daughter to in exchange for a military alliance, is poisoned and dies. Without any proof or reason to suspect you, the newly crowned King negates his promise to send troops to help you in battle, but still takes your daughter away as his bride. This is stupid because you have no option to even try and stop him since he has obviously broken the agreement you had with his father. I looked past this initially because I figured I would at least get the chance to save my daughter at the end because it's clear that the new King is going to be the ultimate villain of the story. But no, despite all the obvious red flags like domestic abuse and a clear motive for the king to be the murderer, you let your daughter stay with him and she is eventually burned at the stake as a witch off screen by the man you gave away your daughter to. The only justice you get at the end is the choice to execute the king if you survive the battle, although even that too is off screen.
There are other questionable points in the story too, like how even if your are as supportive as possible of your 13 year old lesbian daughter and her girlfriend from an enemy nation whose age is suspiciously never mentioned, they still choose to run away from home and literally never come back even to visit. Or how the status of monsters and magic in the world are simultaneously well known and unkown depending on what a specific part in the story calls for.
Ultimately I really did want to recommend this game on sale, despite all it's flaws. But that one major point really just killed any investment I had in the game. It was late enough in the game that I couldn't refund it and I might as well finish it, but I really don't know who this game is for. If you like good pixel art and are ok with a linear visual novel where most of your choices don't matter at all, then for $5 on sale I guess you could do worse. But frankly, there's tons of better stories out there and I don't know why you'd waste your time with this one.
Might not be worth it at full price for many people, but on sale this game is a steal. It's more VN than resource management, because frankly you'd have to keep making really poor decisions to fail the resource management side of things. The story is really good though, and though the resource management isn't too difficult, it's enough to keep you on edge for most of the playthrough, especially during the latter half of the game.
Ultimately the game is really about the King (you) and your immediate family, and it succeeds in being a story about that.
A great point-and-click narrative game that got me way more invested that I thought I would be. While its presentation may be simple, it is quite good in getting you invested in the well-being of both your family and kingdom. The little stories that pay-off later in the game, and the little narratives within the larger story does wonders in bringing the Kingdom to life.
Basically the game is worth it if you are into choice based narrative games, and I am excited for the sequel.
