ratropolis is a great game. it has a good balance between a card game, a city builder, and a defense game.
all that with a lot of variety between the 12 characters.
the difficulty curve is great, the game never feels nor easy nor hard, and when you lose you could always understood why.
if you like rouge card games, this game will click on you. half of the experience is about creating a perfect deck.
totally recommend.
Wonderful game that I keep coming back to. I highly recommended for any fan of roguelike deck builders.
An excellent base builder + deck builder mashup. If you like both, then strongly recommended. If you like one or the other, you should take a close look to see if you think you'd like them both at once.
Fun unique survival city builder card game, various play throughs are unique depending on card selection. I recommend if you like playing with cards.
It's much more difficult than one would think, but not in a good, entertaining way. Micromanaging is required but the game is not making it easy. There is pause, but you can't do anything (not even read the description of cards) when it is paused.

Conceptually, this game is a solid fusion of genres. It takes the mechanics of Kingdom - right down to the walls - and adds a fast-paced deckbuilder to it.
That said, fans of Kingdom are unlikely to enjoy this. Kingdom is a calm scenic ride punctuated by moments of excitement.
But Ratropolis is constantly vying for your attention, needing to click buildings with cooldowns and play your cards as fast as you can. It takes from its Korean roots in this regard (Starcraft UMS players will know what I mean.)
While this game isn't for everyone, it is for some one. And I would normally be one of those some ones... Everything I said above is a positive thing for the right person, and to me, Kingdom was too easy! So why the negative review? Balance. Some builds are just absurdly strong (like infinite $) and others are laughably weak. The result is this promising game is lacking variety in practice, and the more cards you unlock the harder it is to pull off anything coherent.
Game design is hard. I applaud the attempt. I just wish it was done better.

TL;DR I am only giving a positive review because I can refund.
I am almost at the 2 hours mark, after 2 long runs.
Pros:
* Art is cute
* You want to beat the game
* It's a genuine attempt at a game, if imperfect.
* It is genuinely fun and can capture your interest... for a few hours
* I think there are few things to challenge you for a dozen hours if you really want your money worth (I see locked things but I haven't unlocked myself)
Cons:
* I got pretty much the same events and cards in the same order over on both runs. I don't think there's any diversity between runs.
* The full price is steep at £15 for what you get.
* The UI breaks every time I pause while hovering on a card. Cards get frozen and I have to click around repeatedly to try to unfreeze.
* Trying to move units between walls is painful. You can't select units. There are some buttons that should do things but it's not usable. (Was it made for a tablet with touch control???)
* Highest resolution available is only 1080p. I have a 4k display (thankfully the rendering worked well on 1080 full screen!)
* Everything is basically happening on a timer, by design, the design does not lend itself to long strategic thinking or diverse runs. It's fine if you like something faster and more casual.
Absolute Hell:
* Cards are the bottom of the screen and the description is OUTSIDE of the screen, so you cannot read the description of any card in your hand (see screenshots for example).
* IT IS SO IRRITATING. THE ASS***** WHO CAME UP WITH THIS DESIGN DESERVES A SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL!
I hover each card to read its effects, and pause the game to read.
Oh shit, did I mention that pausing is breaking the UI?
(I can appreciate that the developer wanted an inactive pause, you can't play cards while paused, but I don't think the UI remaining stuck/buggy is intentional)
Overall:
I can understand people who have reviews after only 2-3 hours, both positive and negative. There might genuinely not be more to see.
I can understand people who have spent 20-50 hours. Maybe there is a bit to see if you unlock everything (is there really?) and try every starting map/character with a slightly different effect.
Maybe I am just a grumpy old man. I don't like to destroy games where people have really put effort in making them. Gotta manage expectations. The game is good enough, for a short casual game.
EDIT: upon refund, I realised I got on sale for £7, so maybe I will do another few hours to complete, or maybe not.
EDIT 2: refunded. too mad a the UI.

Great and Fun game.
A fun hybrid game of deck building, city management, and tower defense. It's weird playing a real-time deck builder, but it does a good job of really making you focus on what you need right then, not what you need in a perfect ideal state. The leaders and decks play very different from each other, and understanding the winning loop for each is a challenge. I've only won a few games, and have only scratched the surface of what it takes to get good at this game.
I like it, but even if I put it down right now, I definitely got my money's worth.
To me, this game is the perfect blend of base defense + on the fly deckbuilding, with a lot of room for variety and player expression. It does have a bit of a learning curve to get started, but for me it was well worth it
