Touched me on a personal level. Really great art piece, proving that video games can be great outlets for storytelling. 8.5/10
Beautiful art and soundtrack, but the story kinda fell flat for me. While I see the connection between the game mechanics and the story, I expected a more narrative depth with this kind of game. It's still a cozy experience, though.
this is the first piece of media to ever feature a biracial couple btw. landmark video game. also the first video game to feature a 6 act structure. phenomenal. boundary breaking. they said it could never be done.
This is a delightful, short game with lovely sound design, enjoyable puzzles, and a heartfelt story about relationships. Though the plot is predictable, the minigames really help bring it to life. It’s definitely worth it, whether you get it on sale or at full price.
A pleasant little game about the beginning and end of a relationship. Gameplay-wise, it features some easy and enjoyable puzzles. The cool thing about it is the story itself, which, while predictable, when combined with the minigames, conveys what the creators intended.
Florence is a charming story of love, inspiration, and memories told with unique expressions and forms. Although it might've been short, it was enough to send my emotions into a heartwarming flow.
the art and music are are beautiful and i thought it was very creative how puzzle difficulty is utilized as a storytelling device. but as cute as the game is, the story is so shallow and forgettable. sometimes simple and cliche can still be enjoyable but i didnt find that in this game.
Short but Sweet : )
Got through all of it in about an hour. I played this game with my gf online for our little virtual date night. We had sooo much fun and bonded over the conversations this game sparked through our initial play-through.
P.S I owe my gf $5 because I thought the ending would be different 😅
Florence is betrayed by it's context. Yes, it is a beautiful narrative about an artist and a musician falling in love - as such, I assumed, falsely, that the game was a semi-autobiographical project created by a real Florence and Krish to commemorate their love.
The expectation and subsequent deprivation of that poetic circle deflated Florence for me. Then, reading about the history of harassment from the project lead deflated it even further.
Without context Florence is almost a masterpiece but with context, Florence feels strangely dishonest.
Very chill game. Nice if you have 30 minutes to spare some day to get through a story. The game was short, but also a nice experience. spent another 10 ish minutes just getting all the achievements. The game is cheap, but the story is worth it, probably worth more than what i paid anyways.
very beautiful story about falling in love and moving on, as well as finding yourself !
Do not recommend to play it if it was your ex who told you about the game
But seriously, great storytelling
Recommended, mostly for those who are living through or lived friendship or romantic breakups.
I love this game. This game is ART! But I was so sad when I found out it was not created by Florence. I thought it's a real story, Florence and her ex-boyfriend were real. She created this game after she became an artist. Turns out she is fictional. I want to cry :(
Florence is a solid game, but it's more of an interactive storybook than an actual game. It's a cute wordless story about love and loss where an artist and a musician fall in love, with shallow game mechanics, a beautiful soundtrack of various strings, and a surprisingly short runtime. The art and stylized use of color to convey emotion provide lovely snapshots of Florence's life, and coupled with the music it makes this game easy to recommend on a sale due to the brief length.
Opening this game on a Saturday morning, from chapter 1 to the end, the whole experience flows smoothly. The designer accurately controls the game's rhythm, drawing me into a flow state. The Gameplay is quite easy but really sticks with the storytelling and subtly strengthens the narrative. Art is awesome too! Every game has its own suitable vibe to play imo, but florence is just perfectly suited for every moment. It could be a sunny morning like mine , a rainy day with wind blowing through the trees and window or a cloudy snowy day. When you finish the game, it feels fresh. Both your body and mind experience a sense of coolness and refreshment. It is a comfortable coolness, not an aggressive or desolate one.
Just finished playing Florence (play time 83 minutes) and really enjoyed it. This is a snack-sized game experience that's just the thing I want as the state of the world feels like a dumpster fire (it kind of is with climate change). Beautiful artwork and gorgeous soundtrack. It's my new silent writing time focus music.
I wish the game was longer and had more puzzles. Overall, it had a cute story and beautiful artwork.
I personally wouldn't recommend this to my friends, but I feel like it may touch those that need it.
It's not that I dislike the game, it just didn't feel like I was the target audience. I did like the soundtrack and art style, but felt underwhelmed by the end of it. If you can get this for like a dollar, it might be worth it, but the current asking price isn't worth the 45 minutes it took to 100% the game.
The story isn't anything special, just a breakup story told poorly. I don't quite understand what message it was trying to portray. Don't have a relationship? Chase your dreams? Don't compromise for anyone or anything? I don't know. It also seemed like it was trying to tell me routines are boring/bad? It was difficult to get invested when I had no idea why they were arguing or what they were arguing about. And to breakup after one bad argument, not exactly the best message IMO. Maybe it was intentionally left in the air so you can fill it in for yourself... or maybe they just wanted to write a breakup and didn't have a good writer...
I did like at the start when they were getting to know each other, the text boxes started needing less and less pieces as it got easier to talk to each other, but that was really the only interesting gameplay mechanic, and even that felt underutilized.
I didn't think it was anything special, but maybe as a single guy who hasn't ever been in a relationship, I just wasn't the target audience...
Also, I can't get Florence to eat the crust... 0/10, bad game design :P
this story is short but really lovely and beautifully animated, i am a huge fan
There's a good chance there are reviews of this game that are longer than the game itself. It's probably the highest quality 35 minutes I've ever spent on a game, a genuine masterpiece
Lovely game, a poignant wordless story, the art is a wonderful vector of emotions and the soundtrack resonates deeply with the player
I went in biased by People Make Games's report on the work conditions which produced this game. I left disappointed.
Florence plays poorly on a PC, antithetic to Wong's goal of inclusive design. Wong's narcissism seeps into the story and cracks the foundation which it stands on. Some of the ideas present are neat, but none novel. None of this game justified the abuse of the developers who helped make it.
I can't recommend any part of this game, even for die-hard indie fans.
I played this game years ago and completed it 100% in under an hour. I spent a good 5 minutes just hanging up on my mother, which was very cathartic, though you eventually do have to answer to progress the story (I found it very hilarious just how fast I could hang up.) It's a quick game that has wonderful music and animation. The least painful break-up I've ever experienced. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a quick visual novel.

Was scammed out of the quick cleaner achievement because the game didn't go to the next part when i did it :(
Cute game otherwise
What an amazing game. Cannot recommend it enough. Capturing the feeling of going through live amazingly. Makes you feel all the right things. A short game that takes you on a journey.
Florence is a game about life, that dances between sweet and sour.
The good:
* Music is awesome, it describes the mood of the scenes and matches the aesthetic the game perfectly.
* The story is succinct and does not waste your time.
* The storytelling is fantastic. The fact that not a single word is uttered, yet it manages to convey the story clearly and without confusion.
The bad:
* It's short, too short.
* Mini games can be a bit repetitive and simple.
The ugly:
* It has a very simple color palette, Some parts the game can look pretty stunning, other times looks like a 1950 newspaper.
7/10 it's good!
Thank you for that game!
It touched me a lot. It's like a short, but for a game.
Everyone should buy and play that deeply touching and lovely game.
10/10
I really like this, there are many things in the story that feel so relatable.
While this game is quite short, it is extremely good. Its got beautiful sound design, fun and interesting user input interactions, and its super cute. The story hits home in all the right ways. Weather full price or on sale I think this game is worth it
A beautiful game with a beautiful story, art and soundtrack.
Is really short, but you will always remember the feelings.
It's a cute game. The music is good, and the gameplay is really simple but also creative in some chapters. For $6, you get around 1 hour of playtime. Whether the story impacts/moves you or not depends on each person; it didn't make me sad or
cry, but it was sweet yet predictable from the beginning.
A beautiful and touching gem about life's highs and lows. Its soundtrack and art are unremarkably clever, merging perfectly with the simple puzzle mechanics with which the story is told.
Very cute game, super creative story telling, directly in the feels. It's very quick too, only took me about half an hour to play through the story. 100% recommended
Florence is a wonderful interactive slice-of-life story that lets you experience all the emotions for yourself. Both visuals and music artfully craft the tone of each scene, and incorporate you into the story. Just like in real life, not everything is sunshine and roses, but that's part of the beauty of it.
Total gameplay time is around an hour, maybe a bit more if you want to grab all the achievements.
Honestly just a beautiful game. It's only 6 bucks and half an hour, no point in not playing it
Completed 18th February, 2025
First time playing an interactive visual novel, didn't expect it to be as engaging as it was. Florence is super short but the story is just going through the life of Florence Yeoh, who's stuck in her daily routine of work, sleep and excessive social media use but her world changes when she meets a Krish, a cello player. The conversations they have are are shown as pieces of a puzzle, a lot of pieces at first and slowly getting lesser and lesser signifying the ease of conversing with Kirsh. I love how the puzzle changes its shape to show how the conversation is going, slowly getting sharper as they go from the excitement of new love to conflicts and challenges of growing apart. The game is super brief but the impact is lasting, defo worth it even when its not on sale.

Florence [Krish is listening to headphones in an elevator with Florence. She notices the music]: I love the Smiths.
Krish: Sorry?
Florence: I said I love the Smiths.
A nice game. A simple story, simple game play. It is not packed with drama, outstanding game play or anything like that. It good to just enjoy the visuals and music, maybe relate to the story and think about your own life. A good choice for a quiet evening or other time of day
I thought this would've been a cozy game but the way the story progressed I was hooked onto florence and her growth. As expected from Annapurna they chose to publish another great game
A beautiful game with great little mechanics that add to its storytelling. The game is maybe half an hour long, and you can bet your bottom dollar I cried through all of it.
I cried. Simple and impactful story driven puzzle game. Would recommend.
The mechanics are profound, the art is amazing, the story is touching! <3
the story is cute, heartwarming but after that i cant stop myself from thinking i paid 7CND$ for a slideshow ,
Very moving story ♥ The game itself is quite short and the gameplay simple but with quite a few diverse mini levels / chapters. The style and the visuals are lovely and the story is beautiful!
Touching, short visual story. The game play is very simple. The story is simple. But both are subtly clever, too. Just what I needed today.
Short and sweet visual novel that uses interactive puzzles to tell the story of Florence, a young woman discovering love while navigating her own personal growth. The puzzles are simple and the story, though cliche, is emotional and sweet. The art style and music are beautifully done and match the vibe of the story very well. The whole game takes about an hour to complete and I personally felt it was worth it.
Florence is more than just a game it's a glimpse into life itself. It beautifully portrays a relationship through music and colors, making every moment feel real and emotional. It doesn’t take much of your time, but it leaves a lasting impression sometimes warm, sometimes bittersweet. This is a game worth revisiting every now and then. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Short and sweet. Takes about 30 mins to play and you know where the story is going before you start playing, but it's still nice.
Another game you could put "Brush the character's teeth!" on the back of the box as a feature.
