This game is super basic and the interface isn't very good either. There are free puzzle games out there much better than this one.
a very bare-bones thinger. nothing fancy.
let's get this out up front... there's no rotation. it's a plain-n-simple, drag-n-drop a piece in as-is.
moving on...
anything you want to do has to be done within the game itself. you can't toggle the sound or whatever from outside the game. you pick new game, what group of puzzles you want to work with and go from there.
it has a basic set up of:
turning the music &/or sound off.
changing the background.
toggling the pieces shown along the side to be either edge pieces or interior pieces.
there's also an option to have the picture muted in the background so you can see what goes where or just a small glimpse or just nothing at all.
each group has several subsections you can choose from once you pick the main group. even if you just bought just the main body of the game, it has a varied "sampler" of sorts to it. so you're Still getting a large catalog of scenes/images to choose from even if you never bought any dlc. the main one has around ten groups to select from. within each of those groups there are several actual images to pick from.
when/if you purchase any of the dlc packets, you may discover a "dupe". that's because the main puzzle game has one or two puzzles from each of the dlc in it. (hence why i referred to it as being a "sampler".)
all in all, it's not the most intellectual game. if you want to be challenged in more than poking at something when the scrolling won't stop on the side because you spun it too fast, this likely isn't the game for you.
but if you want something relatively mindless with pretty/cute scenes to work on during a headache, i definitely recommend this... welll, once you turn the sound/music off, anyway. they aren't horrendous. but if you have your main computer volume up at all, it will blast you. and you can't adjust it from inside the game... all you get is on or off.
hope this review helps you decide and isn't Too hard to follow or repetitive.
have a good one! ~kstormgemini
Super relaxing. The pictures from the galaxy dlc are stunning.
Quite relaxing and simple jigsaw puzzles. No frills, and wonderful images.
PROS
* Huge selection of puzzles - base game has 8 collections with 10 different puzzles each, with 5 difficulty levels.
* Pictures are vibrant and aesthetically pleasing
* Great replayability value
* Great value for money - base game is inexpensive, as are DLCs, AND they do go on sale as well.
CONS
* Interface is not intuitive - no tool tips to tell you what things are
* Controls can be randomly finicky where sometimes even repeated clicking a puzzle piece won't pick it up BUT, when attempting to scroll the sidebar of pieces up or down every mouse click will pick up a piece (le sigh).
* There does not appear to be a slider for to control volume of music and sounds, it's either On/Muted.
Nifty little game, great value for money.
As someone a jigsaw puzzlephile, this is a great alternative when physical jigsaw puzzles are no longer viable.
Not a bad Jigsaw Puzzle Game. The photos are what really makes this a pleasure to play. It leaves many other puzzle games for dead with it hi def photos. It's only let down is a rather clunky way of selecting tiles, it's a little hit and miss. When clicking on a tile it doesn't always work. This tends to become somewhat frustrating. After much messing around trying to find a way of making sure it selects I discovered by placing the cursor on the tile, letting it rest for a little and then making a small movement to the right it worked, but again, not every time but better than simply clicking on it. It also falls down on rotating the tiles, again, hit and miss. Trying to find that magic spot works, sometimes not. It's simply move the cursor and try again. Taking your time will increase your success rate.
One last hiccup was discovered when I'd made a string of edge tiles and tried to position them, the darned string insisted on sliding to the left. To combat this I moved the string a couple of Centimetres to the right and let go. It still slid to the left, but connected, Weird but once you know the trick it seems to work every time.
So a few things to watch out for, but once your know what to expect it becomes second nature. I'll be honest, I was ready to delete the whole game but after playing 6 or 7 puzzles I started to enjoy the game. Darn, I forgot one other minor error, if you purchase the whole library you'll find a few of the generous collections are duplicated and some photos aren't what's depicted on the preview.
The game appears as if it's still in Beta phase although I think the owner may have given up on it If it's been out fora while I'm surprised he or she hasn't bothered to fix the problems. If you're wondering why I still like the game, Number 1 would have to be the excellent photos, Number 2 would be the price. I've paid $10.95 for one game's DLC, this one is only .59 cents per DLC.
Definitely a bargain once you get past those problems mentioned earlier. Grab this game for free, it gives plenty of puzzles. If you like it, pick up those DLC 's. In the meantime I'll keep my fingers crossed for more collections.
Pieces are squeezed into the sidebars, image squeezed into center, unused space between piece columns and the image. Can't rest pieces there temporarily. Worst: Pieces let go are 'tossed' by the game in undesired places, overlapping often with others which makes this puzzle unusable. I saw better puzzles.
Music is just on/off, no volume control.
Pity as I liked the images. But those controls are much worse then from other puzzle games.
It's a bunch of jigsaw puzzles, they are cool, nothing fancy. I found one annoying bug and one annoying feature that I wish the dev would fix/alter.
Annoying bug - matching pieces won't click, they will snap apart like opposite sides of a magnet.
Workaround - drag the piece slightly to the right of the other piece, and it should snap together.
Annoying feature - snapping to grid. I hate that thing, pops pieces all over the place. No workaround, just do the best you can. I wish the dev would remove it.
Overall I do enjoy the game, and will probably buy more dlc. But I'd be more enthusiastic about it if the snapping issues were resolved.
The puzzles are great except sometimes they don't fit together on the edges pieces until you drag them off the board. Otherwise it very calming.
At this time, I would give this game a pass. There are some really irritating bugs that I encountered.
First time I played, it seemed to work fine.
The second time I played, I picked the largest size of a puzzle in pack 6 and it gave me a puzzle from a totally different pack. Third time I played, it decided to overwrite one of the packs, so now pack 5 and pack 6 are the exact same puzzles and I don't have access to the ones it lost. Since this is not a free game, I feel like that is taking away something I paid for.
More minor annoyances include:
1. During gameplay, the border on the right side often refuses to 'snap' into place even when I have it lined up to the pixel. I found I have to drag the pieces completely off the board on the right hand side, then drop them while they are barely touching it to get them to snap in.
2. Sometimes picking up a piece off the row and moving it onto the board will make the piece tray slide up and down as you position the piece on the board. That is irritating when you can only see 5 pieces at a time and now can't see the 'next piece' you were going to pick up because the bar scrolled all over when you didn't even have the mouse on it.
3. When trying to scroll the piece tray, since it does not have a separate scroll bar, you might click and drop one of the piece 3-4 times unintentionally before you can actually move the tray. Being able to scroll with a mouse wheel while hovering over it would be a nice feature rather than having a click and drag in the same place be a random roll between two behaviors.
Now, the game does offer multiple resolution options. I pretty much never play in full screen mode or on max resolution, so the annoyances I had might be tied to playing at a smaller resolution, but the bugs I encountered I don't believe were tied to that, so overall I do give this a thumbs down. Content loss through a bug is a big no-no for me.
On the plus side, the pictures were crisp and clear, with no offset or blur on the piece edges that can make lining up the little details difficult. The option to display toggle the puzzle view on and off during gameplay, whether as an overlay or underlay, was nice. Being able to choose a background color was a plus as well. So there is some value here, but I would get it on sale if you decide to get it.
I like the layout for these puzzles, with borders or inside pieces at the right as you choose. The variety and sheer number of pictures is great.
Easy puzzles. They can be completed in 30 minuets to an hour with 280 peaces. It's good for wasting time while waiting on something to download. It needs more puzzles though.
relaxing, enjoyable past time. Only complaint is I wish I could scroll the pieces easier as a lot times game just makes me pick up pieces when I'm trying to scroll
Good selection of puzzles. I like that you can select to view edge pieces only and there are options to show the reference picture or not. The pieces snap to each other but sometimes don't want to snap together even when its the correct piece, especially the edge pieces. I like the different size selection. The piece selection and scrolling does not work well at all. I often click on a piece and the mouse doesn't pick it up or try to scroll up but it selects a piece instead, and the scroll speed is slow to the point of being almost unusable. The mouse wheel should scroll through the pieces and it should be a lot faster. I'd also like to be able to access the DLC through the menu instead of the play button on Steam.
This is a no brainer. If you like a relaxing pick me up game, then this is well worth the very low price. Excellent game. Controls are easy, intuitive and well designed.
Very enjoyable. Recommended.
I love doing these puzzles..... there is nothing that relaxes me more in these crazy times.
Positives+++
+I like that there is different setting for the reference image (no reference, small reference, full board size reference).
+I like that at the end of a puzzle you can see the time it took to complete it.
+I like that the corner piece have a white border making it even easier to see which one is a border piece!
+I like that there is a button to show only corner pieces.
+I very much like that there is a progress bar on each puzzle size of each puzzle :D
+I like the "complete" text under the puzzle size of each image.
+I like that pieces don't snap to the board but snap to each other.
+UI is nice
+There really is a lot of puzzle to do! 8 categories with each 10 puzzles, making it a total of 80 puzzles with 5 difficulty (12, 35, 70, 140, 280)!
Observations and suggestions~~~
~Some of the background choice just doesn't make sense. Why would I want a rainbow background? It doesn't enable me to see any of the pieces correctly. More background option with neutral color whould be better in my opinion (with no texture).
~Mouse wheel to scroll through unplaced pieces is ridiculously slow. This game seems to have been created for touch devices, but is lacking fonctionality for computer users.
~There are some UI things that don't fit the overall theme: redo, continue and close icon when a puzzle is finished. They look like they come from another game instead of the same game. They all have different stroke size and color.
~It would be nice to have an option to disable click and drag in the loose pieces to the right. I want to place the pieces that are there and something I missclick and it drag the pieces. I would prefer it to not move so that I don't accidentally scroll it instead of picking a piece. Also, 2 columns of pieces would be nice instead of 1.
~It would be nice to see best time on the puzzle selection screen. For the moment, we only see the time it took at the end of a puzzle, but the time is not displayed anywhere else.
~It would be nice to have achievements
Negatives---
-No option to modify increase/decrease sound and music (but you can disable/enable it altogether, which is nice but not what I was looking for).
-There is no way to reduce or increase the size of the reference image when it's in a movable window. Because the reference is over the pieces, it makes it hard to work with, without always toggling it or moving it around to be able to see the pieces.
-Collision on puzzle piece is not super accurate. I can pick up a piece without touching it (by the hole).
-I wish there was a way to reset a puzzle
-There is a bug with all puzzles of the image of "Jigsaw puzzle 5". The puzzle doesn't load the correct image. Example: orange sunset load blue winter landscape with a forest. O.o After browsing in the puzzle selection screen, the behavior is sometimes back to normal.
-DLC are not included directly in the main game. When clicking the "Play" button from Steam, you have a series of radio buttons with all of the DLCs. It think it would be nicer to have them integrated in the main game instead of selecting them on start.
Overall, the price is cheap for all of the content there is to play. Puzzle snaps together. Saving of puzzles in progress. It's one of the nice puzzle game on steam. A few negative things and a bug that can be fixed, but I think it's a great game. Good job to the dev :)
Great Jigsaw Puzzle Game for Casual Puzzlers!!
I had to write a review for this game, because contrary to the 2 negative reviews, IT WORKS FINE!
This game is even great for children or adults as each puzzle can be played with 5 piece counts, 12, 35, 70, 140, or 280. The only reason I say this game is for casual puzzlers is that the piece count only goes up to 280, and most hard-core puzzlers yearn for higher, and more difficult piece counts. The pictures are beautiful and varied, and there are a number of DLC that can be purchased for even more variety.
When you start the game, you can choose to play in windowed mode, and also select different resolutions, graphic quality, and monitor (if you have more than one). Also, when you start the game, you need to choose whether to play the main game, or select a DLC as they are not all combined into the main game. When you select a puzzle, it asks you to choose the piece count you wish, and also lets you know that a puzzle is in progress, or that you have completed a certain piece count, which I found very handy! The pieces are lined up on the side of the puzzle board, so you just drag the piece that you want onto the board to place it. The side can be moved up or down to search for a piece, or to just see different pieces. There is also a shuffle button if you don't want to scroll up and down to find pieces, or group the outline pieces together, which can be helpful for younger puzzlers!! I find this to be a nice change since the puzzle board area is larger so you don't have to magnify everything. The pieces do not snap to the board, rather snap to each other so you can put together groups of pieces and then connect them where they belong later. There are 12 background color choices for the board, and you can choose to play with sounds and music on or off, which I find to be nice features.
I will be buying ALL of the DLC also since it is VERY cheap, especially when on sale! If you like casual puzzling, or have children that like jigsaw puzzles, this is a MUST buy in my opinion! I rate this game 10/10!!
Not sure why there are negative reviews for this. But I haven't had any problems with pieces connecting on any of the difficulty piece counts. Also have tried several DLC's and they work fine also. I have a very basic graphics Win 10 i3 computer...no issues. Puzzle pieces don't rotate which may or may not be to your liking. Tho for someone with hands that hurt easily...this is a better alternative to some other jigsaw games. I turn off their background music and play my own playlist. Price is great when bought on the super sales. Never spent more than 49 cents on any DLC...wait for the sales.
Bugged, pieces won't connect
