—99 e-mails from the same sender… her.

This tale began five years earlier, in the spring of 2231. Mankind has evolved a new kind of communication ability called “telepathy”. Yotsuba notices a young girl who does not use telepathy in his first term. In the days that follow, she remains closed off.

One day in the yard at his home, Yotsuba finds a Phillips-head screwdriver. He traces its origin to a nearby abandoned manor, and enters. Inside, he finds something…

The thing that humanity has denied.
The thing that memory has forgotten.

Which is longer, past or future?
This is a novel game to look over "myself"

Intro:

How far would you go for the girl you love?
2236 A.D. asks us this with its crazy complex story. The main way of communication is by telepathy, those who can't and must speak verbally stick out like a sore thumb. Yotsuba gets a new a student in his class that can't use telepathy, her name is Haru Shion. Along with that, a boy gets transferred to his class with the same anomaly as well, his name is Shiraishi. Despite their differences, the three of them become friends. One day via telepathic data reading, Yotsuba is lead to a run down Western hotel. There, he meets a girl. She is unable to move, but she can use telepathy. She looks just like the girl from his class and possesses the same name.

After several incidents, the girl Yotsuba fell in love with someone who is no longer in his dimension. She simply did not exist anymore. Yotsuba's will to find her is strong, but he must go beyond what sanity can handle to find her.

Pros:

1.
The story is absolutely crazy. I loved it. Haru Shion's route felt safe and wholesome. What do I mean by "safe"? Well, it's not like the Hime route, that's for sure. It stays on route with Haru and maintains that adorable undying love for Haru, even through other dimensional means. It's the route where you don't want the complexity of knowledge. You just want your love. Is it a bad end? No, absolutely not! I like that it utilizes Yotsuba's perceptions of himself and how it compares to Haru, right? Now for Hime, Hime's route is insane. You had to end up like Hime to be with her. You had to suffer with the knowledge that there is a different variant for everything, to the point of near insanity. Paradigm Lost broke Hime and so it must break you, you must abandon being human. With that, after going through trials of trying to stop Hime in The Archive, Yotsuba chooses not to. He couldn't. Despite Hime-senpai's flaws, he didn't want to stop her. He made a different reality with Hime, it was a happy life, but she disappeared. Yotsuba traversed to find her, gathering items along the way, but when they reunite, they embrace and slowly fade away. Despite all the trouble Hime and associating with her has caused, Yotsuba's love for her never stopped. He can't go back to Haru, and he doesn't want to leave Hime alone. This was the best course of action to be with Hime. Finally, there's the TRUE route. The true route is absolutely crazy, that it introduces a new character we haven't seen before in the previous two routes. The true route focuses on Yotsuba stuck in The Archive trying to find a timeline where he ends up with Haru. It's a different reality where Shiraishi and Masuko are humans who are also friends with Yotsuba and Haru. In this reality, Yotsuba and Haru do become an item, but there are struggles between the two. Eventually, this leads to a breaking point for both of them. Yotsuba tries to find a timeline where he and Haru have a happy life, but it all ends in failure. To his dismay, maybe he wasn't supposed to be with Haru. Maybe he has to let go. I was not expecting such an ending for the True Route. It was an enormous barrage of feelings, and seeing that was just PAINFUL. I find that all the routes were written with great care, even with such a complex story. The Haru Route was wholesome and simple. The Hime route was crazy and bittersweet. The True Route was heart-wrenching. Overall, I enjoyed the hell out of the story. MEGANE mode adds glasses to Masuko and has a minor dialogue addition.
2.
The characters are well written, at least most of them. Yotsuba is just a young guy and yearns for Haru's love. He can be emotional and judgemental, but he has to learn to grow. Haru is a sweet, shy girl. She's a little airheaded, but she means well and tries her best to be positive. Hime is smart but can be socially awkward or persistent She can be a bit unhinged sometimes. Shiraishi is extremely friendly and is an excellent loyal friend, no matter what reality. Masuko is Yotsuba's trusty sidekick and the pair have been through thick and thing for so long. Dr. C.S. is straightforward and doesn't hesitate to speak the truth. Shun is mysterious and deems humans as interesting things, unlike Dr. C.S. He does appear if you choose a bad option and Yotsuba dies. I enjoyed the characters and their growth during the story, it was strong and impactful.
3.
The art is plentiful and ranges from good to maybe average. There a TON of CG art and I heavily appreciate that. The sprites have a variety of outfits, expressions, and a small handful of poses. I also enjoy the use of videos for some of the sections such as the video broadcast, the opening, The Archive, and the ending credits. Understandably, some people don't like the use of real life photography used for backgrounds. I don't mind and I think it perfectly fits the story, as well as the manipulation of the photographs to go along with what is happening. This comes heavily in depth halfway of the story.
4.
The music is wonderful. Composed by the creator, Mokine, along with Prhyzmica, it fits excellently in the world of 2236 A.D. Tracks like SOLVED9 serving as the opening gives a feeling an epic tale. Shion being Shion's theme, is whimsical and gives a feeling like she's a carefree character. There's also the various classical music tracks to coincide with Yotsuba's musical infatuations (or struggles). The credit songs all being different, but all fit extremely well. Haru's end song, You're On The Round World is happy and full of applause. Hime's route song, Largo is melancholic. The True route song, y is sad, yearning, but accepting. All the music does an excellent job at enhancing their scenes, and I can't give enough praise for it.
5.
I appreciate the glossary among the files, it comes in handy when understanding the lore and story.

Cons:

1.
I think the story is great but I thought the part in the true route where Yotsuba watches as he keeps meeting with Haru and witnesses how each time his relationship fails, was a bit tedious. Understandably there were the noticable differences later on, but maybe one less section of that would have been fine.
2.
I think Shun should have a bit more time. I thought his character was interesting, but it would have been nice know about him a bit more, especially as he appears in the true route.
3.
I stated in the Positives that the art can range from good to average. What I mean is the quality is inconsistent. Sometimes we have great quality CG art, sometimes we have unfinished art like in Haru's route where it's rough sketches. I'm unsure if that's purely intentional or a product of low funds, but it does make it look like a rushed portion artwise. There is also an abundance of CG art; that isn't a bad thing, but it would greatly benefit with a gallery option so we can take a look at all the artwork, sprites, and backgrounds.

Conclusion:

An excellent, complex, heart-wrenching story that explores our characters will to pursue what they want, whether it be love or knowledge, even if it costs their sanity. The story is great and the characters are strong. The music is excellent and there is an enormous amount of art.

This one was one and tedious VN. The problem for me is that the whole word crafting in this VN become waaay too much esoteric. I mean I knew most of the concepts already and got what they are based on (eg Akashic Records) but the delivery just did not click for me. Instead of being curious what will happen, I was just hoping for it to finish. Also most of the adult content are self harm or rape - all ages version is a bit toned down though but you can get the implied context nevertheless. I think from the Sekai Project VNs this one was the most depressing and gloomy I have encountered so far. Usually I do like existential content but here it was mostly teenage neuroticism on the top of the scale. There is a couple of endings (6-7) mostly neutral or bad. Also another warning - there is a lot of science and math content thrown, so if you are not into it, this vn will be tough to follow. I do appreciate the effort developers took to create this unique setting but the character interactions in this story just did not work for me at all. The protagonist does not have any redeeming qualities I could resonate on (self centered, cruel, coward, aggressive, rapist) - he is curious and he is trying though. I do think, however, that this VN will be very good for the introvert gloomy teenagers - in my op, it will well resonate with them - I do not mean it in a derisive way. It seems I am not a target audience - anymore ;) .

Stream-of-consciousness writing. And the English translation is quite difficult to read.
