Carpe Fulgur!

good game
A must-play for fans of simulation and light RPGs!
A charming and innovative indie game that combines shop management with dungeon crawling, offering a unique twist on traditional RPG mechanics. Extremely fun and highly recommended.
Please allow saving progress whilst inside of dungeons in the HD edition. Replayed this game yesterday and decided to stop playing after 20/30 levels of Amber Garden because the game started lagging so I decided to save and reload, only to find all my progress gone. I know that there was a warning in game that saving would take me outside of the dungeon, however I think the game would be better if you allowed saving progress whilst in dungeons in the new game :)
Will change my review to positive if this gets implemented or if I like the HD edition. Good luck with the work!
we need more games like this.
I can't stop selling shit.
One of the first shopkeeper games, and its a really good too. Never would i think that being a shopkeeper on an RPG world would be so much fun and satisfying. Game has a lot of content. Unfortunately it does not have Cloud Saving
The combat system is meh, but everything else is top notch.
i would say that the game is quite simplistic, you buy stuff from the guild shop (preferably low) and sell high. you manage your time between buying stuff from the guild, opening up your own shop, and dungeon crawling. and try to make as much dough as possible.
8/10. I absolutely recommend this game. And if you think this game looks too ugly or just too old, you can wait for the HD remaster that is in the works
Fun an addictive little game.
tear we need to sell
tl;dr Capitalism, ho!
This is a game that has been on my wishlist since at least 2013 and I'm sad that I slept on it for so long. This is Moonlighter from long before Moonlighter was so much as a dream in its dev's brain. A weirdly roguelite little anime of a game (don't worry like I did if you can't hit that second week's debt threshold, the game will wake you up as if in a dream, but with basically everything you had before "failing") from before "roguelite" was a term in the mainstream zeitgeist. If you played "Swords & Potions" back in the day, wished you could go retrieve the items from the dungeons yourself, but loved it anyway, then this is the game for you. If you're an old school fan of anime and an oh-ho-ho~ kind of reflective, pseudo-antagonist, then you'll be familiar with not only the humor, but the art style, the music...even the sound design is wonderfully reminiscent of the RPG Maker-esque era in which this was born. Whoever did the work on the English subtitles on this game understood their assignment. Whoever the VAs are for the various characters deserve more than they probably made back in the day. Get this game and embrace the surprisingly innovative nostalgia of its time. I already love it and I'm only on my second loop.
CAPITALISM HO IS COMING IN HD YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Simply a really well made Doujin-Game with then a very unique/rare concept!
Hey hey people. I got this after watching Sseth review. Extremely funny so far and very charming. I do like the shop part so far. The rest is meh. I did see on his review, you can unlock people and it has new game plus which is interesting. I do plan on playing it more. Im on day 4 and like it. You do have to set up controls before you play the game. It says controller support but I couldnt figure it out. The game is mostly action button/ cancel button so pretty easy.
It holds up well and is still fun to play. It's writing is a big plus and very enjoyable. I recommend looking up how the buying/selling and reputation mechanics work before starting the game or you may get to the end of the game and fail right on the last payment.
i love upcharging widows 50% for literal garbage
Capitalism, baby.
most awesome game of all time i love capitalsm
Capitalism Ho !
numbers go up, but plus the debit collectors of animal crossing.
dated game, flows bad
the "cycle" is incredibly boring, charts to maximize profits, guides for what drops where, fusion charts for stuff that you will sell.
my only true "sin" that the game does?
the controls suck, no explanations, remapping your controls sucks.
capitalism simulator with an anime girl
Incredibly charming fun game
KID, NO MONEY NO SHOPPING!!! GTFO
good
Looks cute, but it's quite hard to repay the loan shark.
capitalism is the root of all evil and i will never endorse it. very cute and fun game, though. tear taught me how to swear in french
Buy my fucking statue.
quite swag
Played this game then immediately got the urge for scamming people
Capitalism, ho!
The game nicely paces introducing new mechanics and content so that it won't get stale before you beat the game.
Not too long, not too short, but quite interesting, as some mechanics take a while to understand.
However, not in my entire life have I ever seen a game with these default keybinds or anything close to it. Which key is button 4? I am convinced whoever decided these has never touched a PC before.
That being said, Nagi best girl.
Why does this soundtrack go so hard
Capitalism, Ho!
It's the game that radicalized me.
CAPITALISM, HO!!!!!!!
I keep coming back and playing through this game once in a while
It's a bit ugly and the combat is not... great. But it's super addicting and the play-loop feels pretty good. One thing I don't like is how it can be hard to find the dungeon exit sometimes, it's such a waste of time
The Ultimate Capitalism Ho! [S]Whore[/S] Game.
Capitalism HO!
Capitalism HO!
Fun for like an hour then predictable and boring. If you want to play a merchant and actually have fun, play "Moonlighter" instead.
Was surprised at how enjoyable the game is considering its simplicity. Store Simulator + Visual Novel + Dungeon Crawler = 1 good game. I think partially because the game has an art style reminiscent of the Game Boy Advance, it maintains its charm even through sections that should be fairly repetitive. Grinding doesn't seem as dull when you have a smooth weaving of storyline, dungeon grinding, and store planning/sales.
10/10
Nothing I've played comes even close to this
Cute game with a lot of 2000s-PC era charm. Legitimately better than most modern shop simulation games, and with a lot more heart behind it, too. It's basically a shop sim with a visual novel and a simplistic dungeon crawler stapled to it. The only thing to really watch out for is that you'll probably get a game over your first time through, but even after the restart you get to keep your items, level, and customer relationships.
Yes.
The RNG screwed me over so bad I lost everything...
10/10 Would Play Again to beat the odds.
no
The gameplay loop is insane amazing, the characters are colorful and I will replay this for the fourth time now.
insufferable
I hope Prime and the little girl die a slow and painful death
Like the other comments say, an absolute gem of a game and truly one of the best games in its genre. If you've enjoyed shopkeeper segments in other RPGs such as Torneko Taloon's chapter in Dragon Quest, you're going to love Recettear. It's that simple. An enthusiastic endorsement.
the best game of all time, unable to be recreated, egyptian pyramid levels of alien technology were granted to the devs and then revoked upon this masterpiece's completion.
only excuse for nothing resembling this game being released in the last 10 years
Fun
10/10 Capitalism & Dungeon Crawling Simulator
