HOW IS THIS GAME NOT MORE POPULAR ????
Best quiz game ever
GOOD FUN
Great idea but you cannot change anything regarding the rules of the game. You always play 10 questions per round which can take forever. I would appreciate if you could customize more. Sometimes the categories are absurdly specific. If you chose a football club you have to sort when certain players joined or left the club 10 times in a row.
Really fun quiz game to play with friends. You download an app to play on a smartphone/tablet, then everyone enters a code to join the quiz. A good variety of different rounds, it's really good fun.
Found this game on Steam while looking for trivia games that had a similar style to the Buzz! series as in the host reading the questions, quirky rounds and fun trivia and categories.
When I found this and it said it was made some former developers of Buzz! I HAD to buy this.
The gameplay trailer convinced me and I have been having a blast with this.
The categories are fun and exciting, along with the different modes they offer.
It takes some time to get used to using my phone to play since I am used to a separate controller (ex. Buzz! controllers.)
I am very happy with my purchase and will recommend this game to other friends and family to play and try out.
One last thing I want to add, even though it does not offer the same wackiness of choosing funny sounds and characters like the Buzz! series this type of game is more stream lined and games go by a lot quicker which makes getting in multiple games a lot easier which is something I appreciate.
P.S.The host with her sassiness ever now and again can sometimes cut into the next question in the round and that is the only problem I have noticed, if developers can fix that slight issue, you got one dang happy customer and player.
the questions are always updated so it's fresh every time. down side is you can substitute 'English Premier League' for 90% of 'Sport' questions.
Don't get me wrong... I love trivia! Trivia at bars, Jack Box games, and all the board games under the sun. Unfortunately, this did not feel like a trivia game, but rather a massive database of random ideas that somehow overlap based on the word clouds associated. Because of this, the difficulty of questions was absurd. After being asked if a hippopotamus was capable of flight, I was then asked to list when Bill Carrigan was manger of the Boston Red Sox and earned them 2 World Series titles. The resulting game play is laughable or simply puzzling in the worst possible way.
While a few of the categories/modes were unique in concept the execution just wasn't there. The game has all of the hallmarks of what should be lead to an incredibly engaging and gut-busting time with friends. While it is cool a question can be formed by scraping a massive database and seeing what Venn diagram overlap exists, it only makes the game feel massive in scope yet ultimately soulless.
I'm glad some reviewers have enjoyed this game for 70+ hours, but I just don't know how. Our favorite parts of playing this game were trash talking Salli back or just laughing at how one player would get incredibly easy questions and the others would get destroyed by something only an encyclopedia or subject matter expert would know.
I can't tell you the last time I refunded a game, but this was the easiest one to refund yet. It makes me feel bad to say that because clearly a lot of work went into this game.
TLDR: I have more fun watching Jeopardy on TV because this game has no soul
Neat game, some questions are super dense and irrelevant though.
Eg. Chose player X's favorite song - but you as player X has never heard of any of the songs you're given..
Host is fun but gets a bit repetitive, she needs more lines! Speed is good, game modes are fantastic.
Solid 7/10 game. Fun with the family, love that you can play on phones as controllers up to 8 people is crazy! Perfect for Xmas gathering etc..
So what does the game really need? Community / Workshop quizzes / quiz questions. It's ok if the host doesn't spell them out, but uploading your own quizz questions would be insane and make the game pop off.
Family Xmas and the quizz is all family related.. all your relatives would love you. Friends come over to watch wrestling, and pre event you do a wrestling quizz.. holy smokes.. Plz add this feature!
This is not a very good trivia game.
The questions are focused around quantity, not quality. It's like they wrote a script to scrape wikipedia data and force fed it into a bunch of easily interchangeable questions that are just regurgitating facts. Trivia is about more than facts... it's association, knowledge, recall. Not just rote memorization of data.
In addition, you MUST download an app in order to play (outside of Solo Mode). For every single player. Horrible design decision.
Gameplay is slow, with way too much animation and interaction from the NPC between every question and round. 1 game will take you 30 minutes, when it could be 10 or less. I'm falling asleep trying to play instead of being engaged.
Lastly, some of the achievement design is fun and creative, although grinding for 30 games played is a chore given the above gripes. Also, I did not experience a single crash or issue in 10+ hours of playing, apart from a very, very small number of questions having issues (Little People, Big World is still on-going, it didn't end in 2010 despite the question about it. And there were questions about animal heights that were above the max value on the sliding scale on the round with a slider bar).
Play Jackbox's trivia instead... it's creative, well crafted, faster paced. Literally better in every way. Or try Trivia Tracks, which has a ton of user-made and user-reviewed question packs.
This game has become my regular Friday night trivia on my Ryder's Bar and Chill Live Streams. It allows up to 99 users to play straight from the chat. They have really made my stream more active the more people play, could use a couple more modes like custom quiz and maybe some more layout options for better streaming.
There's probably a lot that can be said about the bits and pieces on the edges of this game (sound design good, AI host interesting idea but the execution is mixed, game design not compelling), but the core of any quiz game is the questions, which is unfortunately where this game falls most short.
Another comment suggests that the questions have been scraped from the internet using AI, which would certainly make sense given how it would tie in to using text-to-speech for the AI as well. It would also explain the low quality of many of the questions, and the frankly bizarre way the game chooses which questions to ask. In my very first game, there where two differently worded questions about which football team Klinsmann and Eto'o joined in 2007, and two questions in a row about Bruce Willis's daughters.
The questions writers - if it's not all just AI generated - also don't seem to grasp that there's a difference between trivia and quizzing. We often use them interchangably, but trivia is, by nature, trivial. It's questions like 'what is the collective noun for a group of these creatures?' - I had another game where there was two or three animal questions to do with the noun for the child, or the male, of the species - or 'what year did such and such happen?' - again, I got three questions in a round about the age of certain world leaders when they came to office or died. These kinds of questions are ok to throw in, but they should be interspersed with questions that actually test general knowledge.
As a result, this completely falls flat. If the core of the game is unfun, the rest doesn't really matter. Back to Sporcle, I guess...
Not customizable enough and the AI is annoying and unskippable. Way too many questions about bridges and airports, you think we go outside?
Easily the best quiz game that I've ever played (and I've tried a lot of them). Good questions, a lot of diverse game modes and nice feeling that you are attending some fancy game show. There are only 2 downsides:
1) you need to install a mobile app to play with friends, which is extra effort. to have a mobile website instead, like jackbox or papa's quiz do, will be more convenient
2) there are "bad days" when game servers seem to work not as good, so there are some lags and glithes. to be fair, they are way less frequent now.
Minor issues aside, easy recommendation for all the quiz lovers.
Very good game in terms of graphic and functionality. The host avatar is funny and whole game flow is very smooth and enjoyable. You can answer questions on your phone on both android and iOS. I'm not a big fan of a questions topics selection, but in general the feeling is very good.
This really is a great game. Originally owned it on the PS4, it was great for parties and family gatherings. Bought it on the PC then i sold the console as it was the only game the family enjoyed. Using Steam Link and a Samsung Galaxy tablet, we put this on the TV over Christmas and shared the game via an online call. that meant the whole family, across the country could all play at the same time. Worked really well. Best of 2021 was a welcomed update!! All in all well worth the money.
If you like trivia games, this is pretty much perfect game to play with/against friends sitting in the room with you (most important point for me, not really a fan of "multiplayer online games"), especially if you have a computer connected to a (preferably large) TV.
Really fun and easy to use over Zoom. It quickly became a big hit with my extended family and friends. It really adapts well to different groups and age ranges.
So many questions! Love the style of this quiz, using a cheeky android as the host as a way to utilize text-to-speech for her to read out the questions and comment on peoples performace. Plenty of variety in the questions and types of rounds. Well worth the money, especially if its on offer.
This game is the quiz game I've been looking for. In 5 hours' play, not one repeated question, no "Americanised" subjects that plague other trivia games and the interface is slick. I play this with friends using remote play and it works perfectly. I was nearly put off by some reviews so glad I bought it.
Most of the questions we encountered were scraped from databases with no human input on whether the result would be a reasonable question.
The resulting effective questions are almost always too easy (Is Manchester a place in the UK?) or too hard (Was "Player I've never heard of despite following basketball" a Small Forward in the NBA?). In our first game we got 2 questions about what "drizzle" is, and about 10 too many questions about the stupid names for groups of animals (ie. an "obstinacy of buffaloes"; one of these questions would have been fine, but their database is padded out with a ton of these apparently).
The "social" question setups are dumb (which of my friends would be better at knowing my preference for a random set of 3 sport teams, none of which I care about in the slightest?). If you want to do social questions, you need to have some human come up with questions that are going to be interesting for a broad group of people.
Game is slow, and host's interjections feel torturous and repetitive early on in your first playthrough.
I haven't seen ohter reviews posting this same problem, but the game doesn't work. I bought this to try out at a birthday party, but 90% of our time was spent getting dropped from the game, having the server migrate and generally do nothing. When it works, it's a pretty fun game, the solo play works just fine, it's just with 3+ players that the game deteriorates and is unplayable.
Just played this with the family on Xmas Eve it is excellent! Lots of questions exciting and fun. Has an ai that reads out words even rude player names as u can imagine. Couple of neg points the sport questions seem to almost all be football (urgh) and alot of stuff is modern so the parents struggle on them seems to be weighted more for that than proper trivia although there is still plenty of it. I'll be playing this alot more with friends the smartphone/tablet controls are perfect. Good job devs
