It is a lightshow

You have to be able to handle all the bright flashing lights. There is a ton of it. The game not only uses it for the beat but as a distraction to get you killed. There is a ton of visual clutter and while in most games I think that is annoying, it is the point here, the challenge. Bright flashing lights to the beats with you blasting everything to dust.

Unique features

It comes with custom music which is really good but you can also use anything from YouTube. The game almost always detects the track and artist so you are also rated up against high scores of other players who have played that song. You can unlock unique ships over and over again that give you different playstyles and it just keeps going.

Controller support

I played with an Xbox One Wireless controller and it worked great. Everything was preconfigured and intuitive, I didn't need to set anything or hassle with controls.

Price

I think this is totally worth it to fans of both music and twin stick shooting. Both feel really polished. There is quite a bit of music here and being able to not only use your own but Youtube is a huge value. The game serves as both an escape and a really good arcade high point scoring game.

Closing comments

Cold Beam Games did a great job with this title. While the UI and menus feel kind of cluttered there are a lot of options here. Aside from that the way the game both handles and sounds is great. Controls, shooting, effects and sound are all super polished. This is the kind of game I would have dreamed of as a child. I'll be coming back again and again to this title.

BEAT HAZARD!!

It was a'ight. To me it seemed like songs all played and looked the same. I could barely tell it was moving to the song.
I miss Audiosurf from back in the day... that game actually felt like I was riding the song itself. This seems to be ... loosely tied to the song a little?? Strictly on whether it was an okay experience, I would say yes. But because it was so disappointing from the perspective of a game "POWERED BY [MY] MUSIC", I would not recommend it.

Better than OSU, to be honest.

This game is awesome and exciting! Because I think the gameplay looks hardcore and "surviving", such as bullet heck and boss battles.

The badguy that spawn in the center is totally a shit.

The game has some great looking environments and the graphics are well designed and laid out

The game does suffer with some repetitiveness at certain areas of the game but a fun game nonetheless

Beat Hazard 2 overall, however, is a fun game to play in short bursts and a great rhythm-based game to play!

Game keeps crashing. Can't even play it. Also the developer banned me cuz I criticized his game. If you can't take criticism them don't release products to the public to criticize.

There is a lot of genuine innovation over the first game. One very nice feature is that you can just play a youtube video in the background now & the game will analyse it, figure out what the song is called & who it's by, & you can just play it like that, without having to covert & download the track onto your hard-drive like you did in the first game. The UI is a bit jank tho.

Good game. Fun to play for a while and see what comes of your music. BH3 seems to be doing something interesting in terms of music discovery, plus it has more abilities, so I recommend you pick that one up instead.

Game does not save offline progress, almost never recognizes openmic music, and often will not award you with shadow mission completion even when you complete the criteria.

Hella fun, but best enjoyed in short bursts unless you fancy your eyeballs melting into goo.

Not a fan

One of the best rhythm games out there. Very enjoyable to go for the 100% as well. I will definitely get the 3rd installment when I feel the need for some more Beat Hazard.

My music taste is amazing, so this game is endlessly fun.

wouldn't load in vr. Fatal error 3 times. If it gets fixed at some point for VR, I'd give it a try but its a no go for now.

Loved the original game on my iPad. Loving this as a casual shoot-em-up.

such a blast, use just about any music from just about any source, a genuinely fun game, so glad i picked them up

absolutely insane...ly AWSOME! better than 1 not sure about 3 yet gotta give it some time i think. and dont get me rong the first one is still great but 2 just has allot of quality of life improvements. and 1 will always have a special place in my heart. since i played it when i was little and its also super difficult.

Absolutely great for any music lover and there's a ton of challenges that are actually CHALLENGING! Playable by anyone because it is powered by any music you have, either local MP3s, FLACs, or any streaming service!
