This is a fun game I remember it from a long time ago kind of just like Civilization but it has its charm.
I'm giving it a no because it flat out doesn't work in W10. But you can fix it with a mod.
Search for "Call To Power 2 SDL2 Port for Modern Windows" > download windows version
1. Overwrite the ctp2_data into the Steam ctp2_data folder
2. Copy the files from 64bit folder into ctp2_program/ctp and overwrite files
The game will work in Linux via proton if you install the windows SDL port.
Game is just like the original except that none of the achievement videos play at all, which is kind of a bummer because that's what you are striving to get. Also, it's glitchy in general. Really a shame
It will not run on Steam
So I got this because I wanted their original game called civilization call to power but couldn't find it, was hoping this was just a improvement on it. While this is very similar for the first 2/3 of game with some improvements they also removed the whole space layer and various teck levels of space ships. I was sadly disappointed because that was the coolest thing.
Activation why did you remove the best part of your game series the thing that made it way more fun then the sid meiers civ series of games?!?!
Your other game was truly a unique experience starting in ancient times and working up to space battleships and cloaking ships, the space layer added a whole new level to the world, made the space race more then just a achievement but actual game play.
If you wanna re-release that game or add the space stuff back into this game, ill play it. As of now I am uninstalling this sadly.
Considering the videos don't play, the screen resolution settings mostly don't work for big monitors I was already putting up with a lot only to play through a game and reach the end of the tech tree and find a good chunk missing from your first attempt at this game.
what a waste of money,
I will echo anyone else when they say they cant get this game working at all,
all it does for me is loads up on the start screen, blacks out and crashes
the game is clearly not being " developed by activision " any longer
it isn't well up to scratch nor being kept updated,
this nostalgic game from 2000s was a was awesome in its time now its been ruined,
there are more outdated games that are playable on steam which I find amazing.
I used to play this game a lot when I was a kid. I was fascinated by how you could grow your civilization even beyond today's technology. I was always aiming for that defensive dome on your cities and I thought it was really cool. It was a really good game in my memories, and it should have stayed that way. This game on steam is a shameless trap for people like me who seek that nostalgia. The game is currently unplayable and can hardly be described even as a game. The music won't play and the options menu won't save your selections and you will need to go over them each time you run the game. I have an ultra wide screen and whenever I progress for some time and discover some of the map, the game would just freeze each and every second, making the game unplayable. Did I mention there is no music?! It is stupid how people can expect someone to buy this crap and be content. And if you wanna feel nostalgic, just go watch some old gameplay videos on youtube. Trust me, you will feel a lot better.

Way better than I remembered.
Played it a lot during my youth, decided to revisit it now, and I'm frankly baffled by how good it is. Unlike Civ games, it focuses on macro scale stuff, so no microing workers in cities, which makes it infinitely more playable when you have a bigger empire, which the game emphasizes.
The added element of ocean colonization in late game, and overall the late game new mechanics are fantastic.
The AI is surprisingly good at keeping up with the player too.
Focuses on completely different things from modern Civ, so it shouldn't really be compared. Both have their place and good parts, but Call to Power 2 really is a worthwhile game, if you ask me.
This game does not work on Win10/Win11 systems without extensive legacy component modification.
It's a CIV Classic with more adult graphics and unit stacking gives the game a unique twist. The game could have been the perfect mix of CIV with Master of Magic. It still needs a Community to create mods to add new units, new techs, new improvements, new PW projects, space colonies (Master of Magic has this with "Plane Shift"", live tactics, "spells", city celebrations, mega maps, scenarios, 20+ players, and more.
