Описание

Springtime, April: when the cherry trees come into full bloom. The protagonist Yukinari Sanada has returned to his hometown in Kanagawa Prefecture, Kamakura City, for the first time in seven years, and is greeted by his older cousin Sakura Narumi (complete with maid outfit). He wanted to live in peace, but his life at the academy placed on the coastlands becomes bustling and brilliant while surrounded by a lineup of girls with booming personalities like Hotaru Amano, the sharp tongued, half-Japanese beauty, and Alice Kamishiro, the lazy witch who loves modern-science and mail-orders.

Eventually, our protagonist is coaxed into joining the action committee for the academy's traditional beauty contest by his close friend. He interacts with the heroines participating in this contest who are cute but each have an idiocyncrasy or two. Fun events (with their own difficulties) pop up again and again. Your story with "her" about smiles, peace, passion, and love, all while borrowing the power of a witch, is about to begin!

"Supipara - Alice the Magical Conductor." is an interactive novel themed around "dynamicism" depicted through a rallying all of the production techniques minori has accumulated to date. See expressive character portraits with moving eyes, mouths, even hair! It is quite immersive in many aspects.

Also, "Supipara" won't conclude in a single game. It will be released as several standalone episodes. Fans may freely pursue only the episodes that interest them if so desired. You could say "it's a light novel series, and independent stories which develop their own unique personalities all in one."

Very good, but why do these visual novels always say "sleep under the futon" or "pulled the futon over my head" when they obviously mean blanket or covers? I owned a futon and it was way too heavy to use as a bed covering, probably because it is a type of bed. I slept on top of it.

For anyone who might be unfamiliar with this visual novel and the devs:

Even as of 2022, 10 yrs after the release of SPPL, there is no visual novel's opening movie can beat this one.

So u think u are buying a visual novel? Of course not :) The opening itself worth the money, and you can throw other thing into trash bin. The (not) fun fact is that minori went to almost bankrupt because of this awesome and expensive 1 and half minute video.

That's why I will never buy SPPL - Chapter 2 since that opening is so mediocre that u may consider other much better options like Steins Gate, Chaos Child, Memory's Off, etc for content rich visual novel or any Yozusoft visual novel for date-sim.

Still, RIP minori :(

Unfortunately Minori disbanded so the story of Supipara will never be finished...It was still a great read though. While I'll be forever curious about how it might have finished, I'm still glad I read it.

The voice acting and visuals were very well done as well. I especially liked how they would turn each of the characters towards whomever was speaking at the time instead of perpetually facing the screen.

Kinetic novel. Was meant to be part of a larger, episodic journey, but the developer minori appears to have... vanished. Still decent as a vignette. Suggest getting it in the bundle with the only other chapter to be published.

I was both sad and happy when I finished this Chapter. I've only played one game made by minori before, which was eden* and I absolutely loved it. I can say the same about Supipara Chapter 1 as well.

The game looks absolutely gorgeous, starting from the opening animation down to the characters and even backgrounds. It has an incredible amount of CGs for a 10 hour long game like this, more than a typical 50+ hour VN and all of them are highly detailed and real eyecandies. It's clear they put a lot of budget into the game. Except for maybe the MC who's a bit more on the bland side (though he's not a bad character by any means), every main character was full with unique charm and quirkiness and I absolutely loved each and every one of them. The story itself is more of a slice of life romantic comedy story with some magical elements and while it's decent and the ending is more than satisfying. It was a bit lukewarm, but adding unnecessary drama would've hurt it way too much, so it's fine as it is. While the romance is pretty important, is adorable and works well despite being pretty predictable, I think this works slightly better as a comedy. I never laughed out loud, but it gave me more than just a couple of chuckles which is quite a feat, considering some dedicated comedy VNs never managed to get so many reactions out of me.

The reason why I'm sad is, because minori is no more, so there is no chance that we'll be getting Chapter 3. It's such a shame, because of how much I loved Chapter 1. Even if the story will never have a full conclusion, I still recommend playing it. Chapter 1 does set itself up for Chapter 2, but it also works as a standalone.

Supipara Chapter 1

TL;DR
In simple words, closer than friends and further than true lovers. A beautiful and brilliant slice of life comedic all-age novelised animation brought to you by minori to allow for another enjoyable and relatable school life. If you are expecting kicks and laughs with nostalgia, get it. However if you are expecting anything soul shaking or heart rending in Chapter 1, you should stop reading any further.

Review and Analysis
The presentation of this VN strikes as very unique to me as a kinetic novel because the whole experience was like watching an anime in first person. This VN is done by minori which has done ef and eden, and I have been following Supipara for a long time before my VN hiatus. Unlike other works, Supipara Chapter 1 is a lighthearted slice of life that mocks all tropes you see in most VNs and animes and is filled with parodies and memes that brings countless laughter in my entire playthrough across 2 days. A simple way of explaining this will be, a more down to earth scenario compared other VNs but with anime tropes littered around. Minori has spent an astronomical budget back then to deliver Supipara in an attempt to introduce a new concept I would call Novelised Animation. This is to tell a story like an anime but from a novel's depth and perspective. Alas, not many are accepting of this idea along with all age VNs and it is a shame we will never see anymore of minori's beautiful and innovative works.

Plot: Slice of Life/10
I don't know how do people rate SoL with a plot score, at least I have never ever done it. Supipara Ch 1 gives the faint impression of what one would see with Seitokai no Ichizon LN with a faint mix of CLANNAD's school life and Da Capo/Majikoi without the plot devices and romances. Every scenario is reminiscent of a memory that can be relatable to real life yet slightly detached due to the parodies and tropes. Even the romance and friendships develop concurrently and slowly as the heroines and characters interact with one another. Lastly with regard to plot devices like tragedies, must a serious/major events happen for bonds to form and solidify? This is what differs Supipara and real life from most other VNs in my opinion. Just like in Summer Pockets, do the two birds have to be injured to have travelled with each other?

Character/ Positioning 9-9.5/10
The characters themselves have a few screws loose, which is to fit the tropes and parodies for a SoL. However, there is a level of genuineness/naivete with that relatable feel that you may not be able to find everywhere like in CLANNAD where most characters are honest with you to almost a fault that you can interact without judging each other. Majority of this VN has been very transparent with the player and the only person judging is really the player or the protagonist to that very extent as the straight man. Since I have already mentioned how the characters interacted with each other and form a complex web of relationships, let us move onto minori's specialty-positioning.

The positioning of characters in minori and circus novels are pretty amazing if you have not realised it. Majority of the VN is done in half body like how a normal person would talk to his friends. This really fits the context of daily school life where one would chat with friends with that comfortable level of distance about casual things. The only exceptions to this is usually when a character retreats, approaches and lastly, when other characters come into the conversation. The positioning here gets a little more complex, a bit more hierarchical as per say. If the character is same/closer in relation or physical distance to the protagonist than the approaching character, he/she will be placed in head to shoulder level as he/she will be standing beside the you. If the character is same/further in relation or physical distance to the protagonist than the approaching character, he/she will be placed beside the other character and away from you. The caveat to this is if there are 3 characters on the scene where the physically closest will be closer to you and the other 2 will be away, this happens a lot in this VN. This positioning also allows for many variations in expressions and head as well as eye movements that show the characters are actually listening to you to talk, which is very rare in other VNs. Maybe I have a slight bias towards older school art styles like this, but this is an easy 9 or 9.5/10.

Design/Scenes/Animations/Colouring 9.5-10/10
Just absolutely stunning, Supipara's design on characters, scenes, colouring and animations are basically way ahead of its time back then over 7-8 years ago when I first met it and probably still is currently. The feeling as you play this VN as explained before is like watching a top tier anime production, but in first person perspective and with more depth as a VN. This is one of the very few (or maybe only) novel I have not even skipped a single voiced line, as majority of the story, expressions, interactions and feelings can be seen and felt as if you are the person talking to the character him/herself. The slight changes in expression through eyes, mouth, hands, head and body movements and posture tell a greater story than the emotions felt across voice acting alone. Even the eye blinking was done probably with reference to real people (who usually blink every 8-20 seconds) and done at very random timings to mimic reality.

The scenary is so well done with that beautiful pastel sky along with the scoped transitions that reflect the focus of the main character. The lighting and shadows in this VN is so surreal as well. Heck, the side characters in this VN probably received more attention than main characters in other VNs and the background mobs are given multiple scenes with proportionate designs that can put other VNs side characters to shame. I remembered the main heroine actually has 4-5 different set of clothes with all postures, other heroines have at least 2 to 3 and side characters having at least 2 as well. Characters are also drawn into the scene and no longer just mere sprites to emphasize that they have social lives apart from the usual cast of characters. A 14-15 hour VN having over 90 separate scenes with a multitude of different expressions and postures to top. It is no wonder they busted the budget to create this masterpiece. I have seen no better example as of yet in 2D so it is a 9.5 or 10/10.

Music/Sound effects/VA/Opening 7-9/10
You must be thinking now that I only have high praises for this VN like I haven't heard of or played a VN before. Well, I have played a few dozen to maybe a hundred over VNs across many genres ranging from a multitude of developers. If I had anything lackluster to say about this work, it would be the music and tune not beating Key's composition sheets. No doubt, the music and sound effects are still easily comparable to other big titles even today (at least in my opinion). The only downside to a slice of life is a lack of deep themes, which determines the direction of the array of music from happiness to sadness. Considering that the theme of the VN is happiness, the overall arrangement are all merry and lighthearted except for maybe a handful of tunes. The voice acting is done very well on the level of upper tier animes with a very experienced and suitable cast for all the characters that portray them nicely. That opening though, easily outclasses modern anime and VN openings through the sheer power of money. Music/Sfx is around a 7-8 in my opinion and the opening/VA is at least a solid 9 if not a 9.5/10 considering it was done more than 5 years ago.

Concept/Delivery Memes/10
To be honest, I can give a score on this unlike plot. However, it is pretty difficult to treat any part of the VN with any seriousness unless I want to kill my joy playing this. There is already some level of concept of how exchanges/sacrifices must be made in the name of magic. Maybe 7/10?

I loved this Light Hearted Game haha It was good so it turns out The MC had no idea what went on With the Whole Senario 7 Years ago and was trying to Piece together what happened exactly. Little did he know Witch Named Alice Appeared And told him that he Was Out cold due to Ship Sinking and His Mother told Alice he wanted to save His life But In exchange she had to Lose her own Memories Of Her son. When it comes to witches and Deals they dont come cheap haha for every wish they need some sort of Payment Money of course or rather There Memories in order for Alice to make the deal AND Agree to it as well. Still not gonna Spoil it For Good VN Game I Enjoyed it I say Not bad If your into the Whole Witches deal and Light hearted Part Get this Game.

*I wrote this review before I read Chapter #2*

The first chapter is relatively short (≈ 10 hours). I found the story to be rather interesting, it has a theme of magic, witch and losing memories like a couple of other vn but in a more cliche way (it can be a bit bland and lack of original idea) . In my opinion , the idea doesn't define if the story is good , but it's the character. With great characters you can have a boring story and be entertain anyway . The thing is , not all characters are great but most of them kept me interested of their interaction with the protagonist which isn't that bad (but ain't the sharpest tool in the shed). This chapter is a slice of life so you must like the genre because it's only the everyday school friendship and comedy for the entire time. Personally , I was surprise of the quality in term of art and music, both are really good. I give this vn a good recommendation for the good characters and great art/music. I hope it get more interesting in term of story in the second chapter but I don't regret buying this one at least.

Supipara is a visually striking VN with very expressive characters and nice art, as well as solid voice acting and decent music, but doesn't have much else going for it.

The writing quality is fine, and the characters are average at best, mostly all typical anime/VN tropes. I would describe this chapter as a romantic comedy, but it's not really that funny, and the romance feels too easy and quick to have any emotional punch. I'm starting to feel like I'm just jaded and that maybe I would have liked this a lot more if it was my first VN and not my 30th or whatever the number may be.

There's a running background thread about a witch who trades magic for memories, but it's mostly used for to further the existing comedy and romance plots rather than to give the story some additional substance. I think a deeper background plot to tie everything together could have made this a much better game. Also keep in mind that this is a kinetic VN with no choices, further limiting the variety.

There are some technical issues, like the low resolution that makes the game blurry when strached to 1080 resolution, and falling flower petals that slow the game down on any PC unless disabled.

If you're going to play this, do so for the visuals and expect a light story. Chapter 2 may step things up further, but I haven't played it and want to review this part on its own. I also haven't heard any news on a Chapter 3, so keep that in mind before getting too invested.

Charming story, tenmon and minori delivering as always. As the end of Chapter 1 (actually the prologue) foreshadows a ton of content, I would love to see the rest of the project funded.

Opening - The introduction movie is just gorgeous. I'll always miss Makoto Shinkai's directing in minori's past OPs but Supipara did an amazing job.

Characters - The characters were pretty likeable after a while - Sakura and started off super clingy at first, but you really grow to love her character as she shows new aspects of her personality without the game forcing it in your face. The only character I never really liked was Amano (aka Ange). She was funny for comical relief but her character didn't really make any sense. Part of this may be foreshadowing for her chapter (which will probably never come out).

Story - The story of the prologue is very feel-good - there's little conflict as the player is introduced to all the characters. I'm quite fond of visual novels that establish various relationships between the characters - it makes for a more lively story and more believable story. Lots of loose ends however, simply because once again - Supipara is meant to be episodic, and the lack of readers (aka money) is preventing additional chapters to be released.

Art - No complaints here, pretty standard Naru Nanao character designs.

I vaguely recall buying the Japanese copy when it came out, I'll probably have to go play through Chapter 2 (chapter 1 in Japan) because I need more! You guys should buy the game to get Chapters 3-5 funded!

The art style and animations for this is great and the story is excellent. It is not just 4 hours long so you can't watch this through to the end in one day unless you have absolutely nothing to do for the whole day. Not too sure about the ending, it does want the reader to see what chapter 2 may be but for me it kind of seems to make the whole of chapter 1 pointless as it just seems to go through different paths the protagonist takes to which, as the protagonist is telling the story through his eyes seems very strange. Although this may just me since I like to put myself in the protagonist's shoes and the ending makes it hard for me to do so. Definitely not as good as Eden* but still decent enough to read through. Would give around 6.5 / 10. Although this is only my opinion and I know it hard to please everyone so some will hate this and some will love this. If you like VNs then I would say to give this a go before judging this by the reviews.

Absolutely love this VN, not exactly the most emotional one in my opinion, nothing like Eden* but it is by far one of the funniest stories I've read and utterly brilliant.
If you're worried about it being chapter one and that it might be short, don't it took me 12 hours to get through it and that was with accidentally cutting short some of the voice acting.

If I had a complaint about this story, it's that they didn't voice Yukinari and it makes the conversations feel less organic. Also, effects could've done with a bit more polish as I found the falling petals looked about jerky in the way they moved.

Other than that small issue, I loved this story and can't wait to spend more money on chapter 2

Wonderful little kinetic VN with excellent presentation and fun characters. Despite being 1 chapter of a series, the story is complete and does not end on any kind of cliffhanger. Even still, it does make you want to read the rest of the series (which no doubt focus on a different character each).

...Im Honestly Speechless Over What To Say...I Just Think It's To Good For Words

> Story Line was Interesting, not something I'd expect for a character to go through
> Has a Very Good Art Style
> Has a Good Soundtrack to it
> It Has Its Funny Moments there and then
> The Mini Animations in it make it more "Moving" [Well at least to me]
> Only Minor Issue was that the screen can feel a bit jittery when a surprised moment comes along
> Honestly the Girls in the VN take you away at first sight
> *Incest / Also In Some Way - Harem*

All I Can Say Is That It's Worth Trying Out...Very Good VN

Supipara instantly became one of my favorite visual novels. Its absolute gem and i love it!

Visuals are just amazing, every scene has so mutch movement in it. Characters change direction they are looking depending on who is speaking. Sprites are so well done it almost looks they were drawn with background ... until they start moving :)

Story is pretty good, voiceacting is amazing, music is great.

Its 10/10 from me.
Buy it!
Enjoy it!

Likes:

O Excellent graphic and cinematography; tons of CGs for a 10-hour long visual novel.
O Eccentric but very memorable casts. Basically, everyone apart from the protaganist has a few screws loose... in a good way.
O Great voice acting. Unfortunately, the protaganist is not voiced.
O Good variety of BGMs and very catchy opening theme song.
O Interesting overarching theme about memory and magic.
O Absolutely gorgeous opening movie.

Dislikes:

X Chapter 1 is somewhat simple and pretty basic slice of life story by itself. I guess we will probably get a bigger picture and more depth in the overall plot once other chapters are available.
X The protaganist is quite bland.

Remarks:

- This is a kinetic novel, i.e. a visual novel with no branching plot, with approximately 10 hours reading time. Thus, gameplay and replayability are nonexistence here.
- Avoid this if you are not into slice of life story.
- Though the story in Chapter 1 is pretty much self-contained, it definitely end up foreshadowing a potential plot point in Chapter 2.
- The entire series can become a hit or miss depending on the upcoming chapters.

Conclusion:

One of the best looking and soothing visual novel. It certainly have high potential to be a memorable series if the succeeding chapters can add something more interesting to the overarching theme. With that said.... how much longer do I have to wait for the next chapter, damn it! -*-

I'm told production company was nearly broken for sake of making supipara invested 100million yen~It shows how responsible attitude developers had taken to it at least.
Present my views~theme song is jolly good!I brought the VN depended largely on promo;so does original painting、character design and plots~oh,i'm extremly into the little shrine maiden Momiji.
Granted, the fly in the ointment is that Supipara not adapt to my laptop,i got game card twice but have to shut it forcibly, running.
In short,i strongly recommend this VN,but you'd mind if your PC compatibles with it.

a question to ask developer, how can i download the OP?

I propose supipara as "best trailer" in autumm sale event,i expect to get some support.

(Review by a reasonably long time fan of visual novels with some understanding of Japanese language)

Let me first start by saying that minori, the developers for this game, have previously created my all-time favourite looking visual novel eden*. I can safely affirm, after the 9-ish hour playtime on a reasonably fast auto-mode setting, that this superceeds that game to become my all time favourite art in a visual novel. I'll save any spoilers for the story section so feel free to ignore that section if you're interested in getting the story first-hand. I have completed this (English Chapter 1) story and can confirm that at a reasonably fast auto-read speed, it takes just over 9 hours, which is well worth it for the (mind you 10% off first week) asking price, as the shorter visual novels are priced at around £1/hour reading. I would have happily paid about £15/$20/2000¥ for this game, just on its quality.

GRAPHICS/ART:
As previously mentioned, this is my all-time (as of writing this) favourite art in a visual novel. The game is presented in widescreen 1280x720 (720p) which is a huge step up from the 800x600 visual novels of yore. There is multi-frame lipsyncing for all voiced lines, which increases immersion, and in some walking scenes there is animation of characters bobbing up and down. However, what really makes this game shine is the fact that it is absolutely packed with CGs. Lovely drawn CGs which blend perfectly with the standard portraits. There is a huge amount of depth to the art, and the real draw is how detailled the lighting is, as is what drew me initially toward eden*; there are multiple sets of portraits depending on which direction and colour the light is coming from in the scene, and this really affects the shading on the characters and objects, and this is consistently shown across the whole image. The attention to detail on the art is impeccable. If nothing else, you should get this visual novel just for how nice it looks. Another point I found is that Amano, one of the heroines, is foreign, and this is represented not just by the colour of her eyes and hair as you would expect in any visual novel, but her entire facial structure is designed to be foreign, lacking the large forehead you see in the other characters, and having a longer face in general, something that is reasonably true to life!

LOCALISATION:
I hate rubbish localisations. I really really do, and I will destroy a review of a visual novel if it's done really badly. I can say that this one is actually ok as they go- there was only one (pretty annoying) problem with this localisation, and one small one. Big problem is that for some reason they've localised the ん (n) in 先輩 (senpai) as an "m", and this annoys me. There is no lone m consonant sound in Japanese, shy of perhaps if you have a っ (glottal stop/repeated consonant) before ま(ma)、み(mi)、め(me)、も(mo)、む(mu); even then it's not really treated as a m consonant as it is being treated here. I could understand it if the voice acting was accented enough for it to actually sound like an m but it wasn't so it was a bit of dissonance hearing n but reading m. Small problem is that they rarely swapped surnames and forenames from the voice acting around when writing names.

VOICE ACTING:
Every character bar the protaganist character is voiced (this is not new to the visual novel scene, but kinda a letdown after the main protaganist in eden* was fully voiced), and the voice acting is filled with a lot of emotion and skill. It definitely is at least medium-tier voice acting staff they've gotten. There aren't many names on the list that you would recognise so I'll spare you the details.

STORY/CHARACTERS:
Ah, ok here kinda the spoilers begin. I have not exactly seen this story done before. It isn't a full nakige as you would expect from minori, but I have a hunch that it is leading to it (more on this later). It is truly a novel story, and the characters are nice and varied, each with their own schticks and nuances. I can feel the potential for the story to go in multiple directions just by how much extra detail is given about the heroines. The story in this "chapter" appears to basically be a slice-of-life story, just to get you in tune with the characters and their circumstances. The game appears to be pointing towards a future nakige type development, but this will probably be in the next "chapter". (can I also say that I drew up a genetic similarity diagram and can confirm that second cousins have a reasonably present 3.125% genetic similarity- take from that what you will.)

I use the word "chapter" because this English Chapter 1 appears to be just about half of the Japanese Chapter 1. Unfortunately in Japan, there is only Chapter 1, as the development of this series was apparently put on hold. MangaGamer is trying to get the second half of Japanese Chapter 1 localised, but as always, this requires money. Purchasing this game will go towards first the English localisation of the rest of Japanese Chapter 1, and then will go towards actually completing this series. minori have not made a Japanese Chapter 2, probably for money reasons, and so your purchase of this game and eden* will go towards funding minori to continue this series!

Oly 3.5 hours in the game so far and needless to say, this is the best VN game I played for a long time.

The art as you can see is best as you can get, the animation is everywhere, eyes blink, lips move as the characters speak, the characters feel alive. It feels like watching an anime.

I normally play games in short sessions, but this is the first game, I started to play and haven't stopped after 3.5 hours, it's got me hooked.

The BGM is awesome, it really sets the mood and it's different for each place and girl which really makes it different from other VN's.

Really looking forward to the next chapaters.

If you deciding between this game and a other, buy this one! Jesus christ, just watch the OP which is mind blowing.
