Configuration
Please follow the guide: to setup Steam / SteamVR.Watching Youtube 360 in 4k and Twitch requires opening them on a web screen and 64-bit 2.2.8 VLC to be installed on the system (not compatible with 3.x VLC). Get it here.

As the intro video says, it does ONLY have the possibility to have multiple browser videos.
It does NOT make it possible to have multiple application windows, so if you wanted multiple windows
for applications and windows explorer (file explorer) windows then this is not an feature.
It's good overall. but not the VR tool i was looking for.
-Some question marks about cross platform use since VIVE controllers was not included in the controll mapping settings.

only problem with the oculus quest 2
is that when the app is already up
it gets stuck with a loading screen on the headset

have to load desktop + first and then driver4vr for disalbed people use walkinVR and then load vr toolbox 360 desktop.

Gutted, just spent $12 on this piece of crap to watch YouTube 360 videos, it seems the software no longer is supported and wont play these as outlined in the features.
Index users beware
- None of the promotional pictures/manuals for this product showcase Index controllers. Red flag #1.
- On powering up my controllers, the guide overlays were placed as if I had Vive wands. Red flag #2.
- Index finger movement is not recognized by this app. At all. I could forgive this, but...
- ... I COULD NOT EVEN COMPLETE THE TUTORIAL. The slightest touch of the touchpad and I'd be creating new windows at maximum size, tweaked sideways at an oblique angle! I'm 99.9% sure it's not me. I was able to figure out the controls for XSOverlay, OVR Toolkit, and other apps - but this? Absolute disaster. I did exactly what the tutorial asked me to do and was never able to get this thing to control properly.
- My only conclusion is that this thing was never designed with Index Controllers in mind.
- The default controls are heavily dependent on using analog stick-clicks, which is known to wear out an Index controller into "stick drift" quickly. So if you use this app regularly, you will destroy your Index's analog sticks.
I'm sure that Oculus or HTC Vive users probably are having a blast with this, but if you're on an Index and want a virtual desktop app, stay away from this one.
If the developers fix Index support then I may revisit this.
I've used this mostly on the Oculus Store but I felt like trying out the Steam version.
I love this app so much because I can make an easy space, set up my individual windows, and just do work.
My specs aren't that great at the moment but any good PC with a 2060 or above should be able to run it just fine.
I only have one request:
Please, someone, find a way to make a plugin that sets up keyboard models similar to Immersed's keyboard calibration. From the positioning to the highlighting of the keys you press,
Does trying to uninstall this software still delete your hard drive as other reviews mention?
I left a post about this in steam discussions asking for the devs input in early November 2020 and it's now late February 2021 and there's been no reply.
as far as I can tell, attempting to uninstall this deleted most of my program files. I have yet to determine how bad the damage was and whether it also deleted files from my user directory. do not install this software. if you have this software installed, do not use its uninstaller, delete it manually, and make backups before you do. since I was uninstalling things in quick succession, I can't be sure it was this that caused the issue, but uninstalling this is what got stuck.
This software hasn't worked for a very long time now. Every time I use it it runs at a really poor 30FPS with performance charts showing impulses of high & low load. Makes me sick to use it.
Crashes, menu flickers from right hand to left so you cant read it... not usable.
Steam will NOT give you a refund on this!! Do not purchase this program, it does not work, it is trash, and Steam will not help you with anything related to this. No support, no help, no refund.

I tried to Uninstall the program this came up : "Do you want to uninstall your user created rooms?" (No will delete the rooms (I pressed Yes to ONLY delete the Room saves) MY ENTIRE STEAM LIBRARY ON MY HD IS GONE, and the folders with the non steam games I added to steam is gone too, also my EPIC games Library is gone as well!!!!! BAD CODE!
This project has got to be my hands down favorite. I've used Big Screen and Virtual Desktop as well. Each of them have their pros and cons, but so far this has been the best experience. Some initial cursor issues have been fixed thanks to a highly responsive development team. It's very hard to find developers who care about their work and the users as much as with this product.
The ability to not only move your screens around as needed, but to add props (I have added props to help discern in the environment where my mouse and keyboard are so I'm not fumbling for them), additional media screens, etc... are all things that you cannot do in the other major virtual desktop programs.
The controller's controls are very intuitive, and the keyboard / mouse support is great as well, meaning you can either stand and walk around the environment, or you can sit at a desk and use it just as well.
If you are running a multi-monitor desktop, I would recommend that, at least for now, you maintain some semblance of the same pattern as you actually have so you don't lose the cursor
EDIT TL:DR the neam of this app and the new oculus store ad and picture for this is misleading customers
If you want to use ONLY the web in mutiple sreens this is for you.
HOWEVER, if you want to do mutiple things at once dont buy this it is a sham.
FOR EXAMPLE: play a movie and watch a game/// use word and excel at the same time/// playing 2 accounts on runescape/// using itunes while running a game/ using itunes while running word or excel
THESE DONT WORK I tried to play a movie at the same time as having forza going and they both showed the movie, i clicked on forza so i could see it and both sreens showed forza instead of the movie. i told the devs and they said they never claimed that worked and the other said i was using it wrong and told me how to make it work. BUT it didnt fix it all they told me how to do was open a new window which the tutorial thoroughly covered. (read the comments the devs commented because i didnt recomend their app)
I got this app to in essence have my dual monitor setup in vr. However, I found out about this app from word of mouth and was misinformed about its abilites. the Developers were quick to respond and did their best to help my situation even though the app doesnt support the feature I wanted to be more productive working.
However the ability to have multiple webpages all around you is pretty unique and when i have more free time it will be fun to play with. I just hope the tech advances rapidly so the devs can add some more features and make this an even better virtual desktop environment.
Edit. having now used this app quite a bit trying to get it to work I still regret buying it. Currently in the oculus store the picture of this app shows a movie a web page and a game running all at once. THE APPLICATION CANNOT DO THIS the develpoers even confirmed that the app cannot do this and pressured me to change my review because they never claimed the ap could do this yet now they show that it can misleading future purchasers. this app is only good for viewing multiple tabs of the internet seperatly. The moment you load more than one "non internet explorer window", all the other windows you have open mirror the widow you interact with. The developers told me
A. we never claimed our product runs mutiple applications at the same time
b. a second dev said i mereley needed to "aim at the aplication hit the menu button and set it as a seperate window" well that doesnt work and on top of that that is how you first open a new window so we both new id already preformed that step.

This is great! Most software like this settles for just allowing you to access your desktop or watch a movie on a big screen. This goes SO far beyond that! This allows you to have as many screens in VR as your computer can handle! Music videos (Youtube support), Twitch windows, emails, reddits, pictures, 360 videos, you name it!
It has an interesting technique to deal with the fact that you can't read anything in VR: using "focus mode" it swings the screen in question as close to your face as you need it. And when the new WindowsMR headsets come out with their improved rez, it'll be even better! It's also the only software that I've seen to have support for the Vive camera: they call it a "beer cam", lol! I use a screen on my desk to see my desktop (yes, I can see my keyboard) and one behind me, hanging in the air in front of the door to my VR room: whenever I look that way, I can see out the door! Or see someone at the entrance while I talk to them.
They also support the new pucks! Use it as a beer mug or as I do; for locking my VR furniture to my rl furniture. When I put something down, I know where the surface is...
Just as icing on the cake, this is also the only CUSTOMIZABLE software like this. Using techniques shown in the Guides you can add your own skymaps, import your own objects or rooms, have your own webpages show up, add clocks, you name it. There's even a way to create and add customized pages of your Steam games that you can launch from within VR Toolbox!
The devs are active and supportive and are constantly adding new things.
As desktop replacement software goes, this is second to none. Bring your computer into VR!!! Your desktop can join you, too.

Much better than competitors for my needs. Looking for more of a productivity aspect to vr and this one hits it. Able to display multiple monitors to view stocks, reddit, and cats! While I already have multi monitor set up the ability to split off apps as their own virtual monitor, resize to a 100" screen, and move it over in 3d space is a very nice plus over my current 4 monitor setup.
There still is the Issue of typing. There IS a keyboard in the app in addition to typing on your real keyboard but its not good for anything more than light web surfing at which point Cortana would actually be better. I feel this will be solved with 3rd party gloves/tracking in years to come or more practically voice to text recognition with a button on the controller. Tying something like dragon to a button would be amazing but we aren’t quite there yet. Currently have a webcam pointed down at my keyboard and have the webcam showing as its own monitor in the VR world as I look down. It works but is very lacking because of the lag time with my crappy web cam. If you can type this won’t be much of an issue.
In addition to monitors your able to add things in your world that help it overlay with your real room. For example you can place a chair where your actual chair is and a wall is or balcony where your actual wall/bed is. Allowing you to custom build a room with barriers that coincide with the real world. Instead of staring at a wall you can now view Saturn out of your window.
As a con splitting apps other than pre-defined ones are hit or miss (this feature is beta) things like discord or Firefox will not split off. While apps like PowerShell and YouTube will. There is also a quick launch menu that have some of these apps pre-defined to split off like reedit, YouTube, and twitch. I Would love the ability to add my own in future Updates such as Discord, Readit, outlook, ect.
Overall grate product, well worth the money and has room to grow. The dev is extremely helpful and active. I Reported an issue with my GPU and he had a beta version to test within 48 hours that fixed the issue! If you’re looking at getting a VR desktop app, this one might have a slight learning curve, but is definitely worth it.
Very good! It's great for viewing Youtube, but I wish I could type into it. I really want to login to my Youtube page.
I think it should be called VR Browser because that's what it basically is.
I found the drawing part to be laggy and not one to one, it would create scribbles when I tried to draw.
The Youtube VR part was pretty great! I got to experience a 3D fractal for the first time in my life in VR, very cool!
It's great, I just wish I could access all of Youtube as opposed to just the stuff that's popular and trending. If I have to add something to an import file in settings I'd be cool with that (so I could be logged in to my account).
Roughly 5 months has passed since my original VR Toolbox review and I have logged well over 1,000 hours, in-helmet. It has become invaluable to me and seems unmatched in terms of flexibility and control in the "VR desktop" and "room simulation" space. As I did with the first review, I'll talk about the competition to highlight VR Toolbox's strengths. The original May 2016 review is below.
Virtual Desktop has been left in the dust, in terms of new features. I uninstalled it weeks ago but, last I checked the virtual screens could still not be manipulated with motion controllers. Virtual Desktop benefits from it's spot-on name and deserves some credit for being first on the scene with a stable, usable VR desktop. Development has stagnated and it's still what it was six months ago, though. Meanwhile, VR Toolbox has been seeing feature updates regularly. Things like improved motion control, additional customization options, better visuals and related options, webcam and FPV screens, more props, DirectX injecting and application breakout... lot's of stuff added, most of it very useful, all while increasing overall stability. Good stuff, VR Toolbox devs. Good stuff, indeed.
Bigscreen is still a highly polished app but I feel it fills a different niche for those who would like to socialize in limited pre-rendered environments, while gaming, watching tv, movies, etc. It's my go-to if I want to watch a movie and feel like I'm in a theatre but, that's all. Otherwise, I feel a little caged in Bigscreen. (I am spolied by 1000+ hours of 360 degree freedom in VR Toolbox) I still think the motion controls feel "heavy", I hate having to use both controllers to resize the screen with motion control. It's the only thing in the app that requires both wands to be powered on. VR Toolbox does it smart by making sure only one controller is needed to accomplish everything, so your other one can be charged up and waiting. Bottom line Bigscreen is free and does many things that VR Toolbox can do but, ultimately it is on a different path than VR Toolbox and IMHO they can and should co-exist in your Library. Especially while Bigscreen in free.
Verdict: VR Toolbox still HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for control freaks, multitaskers, engineers, artists and anyone with smart-pants. Thanks, devs. VR Toolbox is spot-on what I wanted out of a VR desktop simulation and I'm glad it exists. Good stuff, bravo!

HIGHLY RECOMENDED
I'll make this even more detailed soon. Wanted to get a thumbs up on record though... best of the VR desktops IMO.
I'll use the app "bigscreen" as a punching-bag for comparison's sake. VR Toolbox is more resource-friendly than bigscreen and other desktop sims, even as you surround yourself with unique windows and adjust them with full 360 freedom. Touch manipulation feels light and easy compared to bigscreen's limited-option, hefty-feeling monitors. Post-processing is a nice touch and improves visuals notably without oversampling to death ... but you can do that too (I do both - looks great and very legible - see my specs at bottom).
Developer is very responsive to feedback and implements feature requests when possible. More features are incoming, so I'll write more when I have had a chance to test them out! Bottom-line, if you like to surround yourself with browsers, media, etc, this is the app for you. The interface could use some polish but that's a minor gripe .. the radial menus are useable and issues with controls are more related to the touch controllers sensitivity quirks than the menus themselves. There's enough flexibility, substance and potential here to make it worth any UI trouble.
SPECS:
Reviewed using HTC Vive CV, Intel i7 3770K at 4.2GHz and Nvidia GTX980 reference card at 1480Mhz (no cpu or gpu throttle), OS is Windows 10 Pro x64 1703.250. The OS, SteamVR (beta) and all VR Toolbox content run from SSD. SteamVR global SS is set to 1.5; in-app SS slider is maxed and in-app FXAA and post effects are on. Three hardware monitors connected (2x 1080p, 1x 1280x1024), also rendering in-app webcam window + chromium browser. Tested mostly using the "artdeco" room preset with most props removed. Beer-mode (vive built-in cam pass-thru) is usually on.
One of the very best things I have downloaded for my Vive.Very reasonable price for what you get.
With this app I am able to place videos running around the room,for example a hd fireplace,a golden beach with swaying palm trees as a window view,or maybe a stormy scene,if I have videos or pictures on my pc then I can place them around the room,curve them,even add 3d settings,and in only one night after I mentioned it the developer even added a loop/repeat option to video options for me,now my videos can be much shorter and run the whole time I am in the room on a loop,I can then change the volume of the fireplace and ocean to my liking,relax back in my chair while I watch a Giant screen with a popular movie streaming website on it,while a second giant screen is playing whatever youtube video I want,any 3d videos can also be converted on the fly and look awesome.If you have the knohow/skill there are instructions to even add and share your own 3d models/objects.For the most part the app runs very smoothly,the controls on vive are very good.This app sparks my imagination,imagine the variety of models that could be made,imagine the scenes/rooms,maybe a cinema room just for horror movies with 3d horrors around the room,a stormy night,wind howling,fireplace crackling,or maybe a christmas room,or....:-)
I have been using VR Toolbox increasingly over the last few months. I bought a Vive, specifically so that I could have a VR monitor over a conventional monitor. Because of VR Toolbox, formally called, VR Light, my expecations are being exceeded.
I tried them all, including Virtual Desktop. I found VR Toolbox to provide a number of advantages, above and beyond my basic need.
First and foremost, I am visually impaired. Large monitors don't really work for me any more, as I must use fix-focus glasses. VR Toolbox renders a clear display at any size and position that suits me. And the developer is SO helpful. When he heard from me and understood that I have low-vision issues, including a problem with light sensitivity, he turned around and added post-processing features. So, now I can filter out the light that harms my eyes (you can call it a customizable nigh-mode that does not require Flux.
Another really cool thing about this product is that it allows me to virtually overlap my bedroom office with props that act as visual boundaries, instead of relying on chaperone to keep me from running into things. When I lay on my virtual bed, I am confident that my real bed is in that location. And since I have boundaries like the back of a couch overlooking a window of a great forest, I get a better view than the wall that's actually where the virtual couch is located. Since I work at my desktop for hours at a time, it is refreshing to look and walk around such a sceneic and large virtual bedroom.
Past where another physical wall is located is a large living area, where I placed a 2nd LARGE screen connected to YouTube. As I sit at my computer, I listen and occasionally look past my bed to watch my 16' (yes, foot, not inch) YouTube TV. Sometimes, I get up and go lay across my virtual bed to watch it more closely.
This is all so much more ideal than I can put into words but, not only has this product become a game changer for my visual adaptive technology needs, it has become a new way of life in my bedroom / office. I am so pleased.
My hats off to the developer and thanks to him for his passion to make this product work well for someone like me with low vision. I wish that I could give it more than a thumbs up!
I plan to make a video soon of what I described. I'll come back here and post a link when it is complete.
By the way, I have an Aurora R6 decked out and with a NVidia 1080. The graphics rendered by this application on my hardware is tremendous and thus overwhelmingly satisfying. However, I was running until last month on an Alienware X51 with a NVidia 970. Graphics were turned don't a little bit, but it still looked great and it worked!
Take the time to try this app and support its development. Interact with the developer. He's really out there and listens.
This is it folks. The best VR app so far. A total life changer. Stunning features, wonderful graphics and performance. Plus it keeps getting better every DAY!!! thanks to their incredible, user-friendly and fantastic development team. What a treasure this app is!
I like this utlity and I belive it is worth the purchase price.
I'm mostly interested in this product for the mouse look gaming.
That is, uising the vive as a method to look around within a game not designed for VR. Mouse movement emulation.
Tested and works very well using the FPV (mouse movement emulation):
Skyrim SE (Disable ENB) **3D
Fallout 4 (Disable ENB)
No Man's Sky **Performance (studdering)
Space Engineers **3D
Empyrion Glactic Survival (very minor studdering)
Marginal (While these do not do well with headtracking, they do run nicely in the main window):
Kerbal Space Program **Performance (unplayable signifiant lag, at least in iva)
FSX-No head tracking (entire screen moves)
Rising World (everything works, cursor is lost on crafting stations)
Does not work with:
Conan Exiles - DRM? (I suspect you would get the same results with EMB or any injector).
ARK -DRM?
7D2D - Crashes VR Toolbox and I think Steam VR (does not run at all, window, fullscreen, fpv)
**Performance
I made no special allowances for performance. I ran the games at the settings I would normally run them full AA everything on (unless noted above). I have a GTX1080 but an old AMD Phenom II 965. Overall the performance of this product is very good. In most cases equal to or better than competing products that provide similar functionality (I have 4, a couple at higher price points).
**3D
Usining ReShade and BlueSkyNight's SuperDepth3D you can setup SBS 3D. This will not work in the First Person head tracking mode but a 3D window pulled up close is VERY nice. Performace is great.
Did not try all games with the SuperDepth3D injectors. If noted they work, if not noted, they might.
In Skyrim the 3D giant hand problem remains but that has nothing to do with VR Toolbox.
General notes: Most game UIs use the edge of the screen, with headtracking enabled you may not see all UI elements unless. A key to auto zoom out would be nice.
Much of the manipulation of the windows (moving a window or changing it's size) is accomplished with the vive controlers. While it does work, it's uncomfortable from a seated position.
This is the best VR Desktop app I have tried. I love the Keyboard glance and the way you can customize the screens and environment.
The 1 thing I wish is that the dev puts an optional VR Keyboard in the App.. I realize that this is geared toward mouse and keyboard interaction but it would be nice to pop in and out of LightVR and not have to go sit down.
