Qix reborn. I love it.
I remember when i was a kid i looooved playing Qix on my GameBoy Pocket. This one gave me nostalgia and plays really well so far. Only tried two of the many modes for now, but they are already great.
it is good. Play it.
I owned this on PS3 and now I own it on PC... I must be a sucker for punishment...
This game is addictive, even when it P***** you off...
"Qix" was a hard enough game, and that was in 2D, this adds a whole new level to the "Qix" evilness ! lol
As moment it's £1.49 - The soundtrack is worth that alone !
Also Multiplayer is supported...
You'll hate it. But it will keep you coming back for more...
Cubixx HD is an underrated game and more should experience the horrors of a "3D QIX" game...
No crashes either...!
silly cube game
This game is fairly good although the interface is a little clumsy. The graphics are nice, the gameplay is fine for casual sessions and the sounds are okay. Nothing ground breaking here. 5/10
5 stars out of 5; it is like the classic game Qix, but based off a cube stage, and it's possible to play co-op or MP [5 thoughts]
1. i love this game, to me it is very similar to tetris. simplistic but not easy to master
2. soundtrack has some very decent moments
3. picking your laser's color will change the sound that it makes... this is huge, imagine if sound #1 annoys the hell out of you
4. depth, beating most of the lower stages will not be difficult. making it to stage 50 on arcade will be
5. my only complaint is that i wish the PSN, Steam and/or other game versions shared a unified scoreboard
If you know what qix is buy this game. It's 3d qix with new mechanics. two thumbs up!
Cubixx HD is a modern take on the classic arcade game Qix released by Taito in 1981.
The basic formula remains the same, but the graphics and sound are obviously a lot better and it's played on a rotating cube rather than a flat rectangle.
It is a simple game that is easy at first, but keeps forcing you to try harder with each level. There is a tension in gambling how much of the square face you can cordon off without the randomly moving blobs colliding with your line. To make things more tricky, there are sparks that chase your laser pointer along the edge of the shapes you draw. The more risk you take in drawing long continuous lines, the more score you amass.
Locking out the other modes like DM was a mistake. I got this game to play with my friends but found that I cant even enjoy it alone. I love puzzlers but don't see any sort here.
There doesnt seem to be any logic to when losing a life carving a way with the laser, even when avoiding enemies. I have died less than a second after respawning carving a piece out of the cube and I can't understand why, there's nothing in the UI or tutorials that mentions a lifespan of the laser so I dont know if this is a bug or a 'feature'. After repeatedly getting through 4 boring levels only to be cheated on the 5th level because of these mystery deaths by nothing I just have no further interest to play when it resets me back to level 1 again.
So...qix in 3D. It's a nice and creative spin on a rather old formula. While this game is mostly WYSISYG in terms of how it looks and sounds (the style is abstract, the music rather meh), controls are tight and gameplay is frantic. Perhaps even more worth mentioning is how feature complete this is: deahtmatch, challenges, extra modes, progression in levels. It may not have too much (or anything) in the theme department, it works very well where it matters. This really is one of those 'just one more attempt!' kind of games. It's tough, but not unfair (in that aspect, it's similar to A virus named Tom). And...well...it's just a fun game. What else is there to say about it? :-)
I used to play this game on PS3 years ago. It has multiplayer co-op and vs mode for up to 7 players... splitscreen! It's fun and challenging. I recommend it on PC!!!
I used to play this on my XBOX 360. It's a 3D version of Qix, basically. The music reminds me of Geometry Wars. Works great with an XBOX controller, too.
Only problem with it is the menus and leaderboards are off-center. The game area is centered, but no matter what resolution I set, there are words off the right side of the screen.
Similar to the old Jezball game from WIndows Entertainment Packs, but way better. Once I started it was easy to keep going. The level progression is really fun. It's one small add on at a time.
Controls with the Steam Controller work well. Works well over Steam Link too. All as expected.
I got this on sale, and it was worth more then I paid for!
One note: Bitdefender thought the saving action was ransomware. Once I allowed it, all worked well.
Super game! Qix in 3D with wonderful graphics and great play. Well worth it!
Love this game , highly addictive !!!!!
BEATEN - around 28 hours
It's QIX. In 3D.
Pros:
- Its Qix. If you like Qix, you will like this.
- Tons of modes
- 8 Player local multiplayer
- High score chase heaven
- Lots of challenges
Cons:
- Gets Insanely difficult towards the end.
Very enjoyable game. Works great with 6 players.
I know I haven't put much time into it, but I have played Cubixx on the PSP for hours, then Cubixx HD on the PS3 for hours. Now it's out on the PC, I can pour even more hours into it.
It's a puzzle game with good music and neat concept. Can be a bit additive.
Granted, it's only the end of January in 2016....
Make note: "Cubixx HD" is easily my first candidate for "Game of the year" for 2016 on the PC! ...Yes, people, it's THAT good!!

This game is simple to learn and play, but quickly becomes a crazy frenzy just to stay alive, much less accomplish the goals of cutting off a varying percentage of the cube area to beat each progressing level! It's so addicting and so much fun that this game would make a great center piece attraction for any party or get together!
Much like Pacman Championship Edition DX brilliantly took Pacman into the 21st century with it's high adrenaline and furious gameplay, Cubixx HD does the exact same thing for another 80s arcade classic called "Qix". This is a brilliant and expertly designed and programmed remake of the popular 80's arcade classic "Qix" with more facets, more enemies, and more high octane fuse-burning action than Qix ever dreamed of!
Awesome! Even if this game was $25 USD, it would still be a bargain! Highly recommended, scoring a 95% score from me in my video review, and getting one of my rare "MUST BUY!" suggestions! My first personal candidate for "Game of the Year" on the PC in 2016! ^5 to Laughing Jackal for brilliantly bringing one of my favorite old arcade games from the Commodore 64 to today's PC in style and modern, epic cool gaming flavor!
