16 years later, there is no longer any sign of what had happened. IMPERIO has returned and flooded the urban area with its criminal activities. The unthinkable happens when the mayor puts on a large banquet to present his future strategy against organized crime, which has been on the rise for months. During the presentation, a shady man draws a weapon and shoots at the mayor. Bullets fly; glass shatters and panic breaks out everywhere. At first, all that can be seen is the mayor lying on the ground. Next to him, police chief Michael Reese, riddled with bullets. He saved the mayor's life and paid with his own. The killer has escaped unidentified.
In POLICE TACTICS: IMPERIO you play as Harvey Croft and take on the vacant office of the police chief. You are responsible for upholding law and order in Newport Falls. Coordinate the emergency vehicles and personnel of the municipal precinct and put a stop to crime. Make sure that no crime goes unpunished and convict the perpetrators! You are the first line of defense in the fight against organized crime. You must prevent crime from prevailing and take out the big fish before it's too late. Collect and examine a wide range of evidence and protect your city before it sinks into a swamp of crime. Use your police units to their full potential. Train and deploy crime scene investigators, special units, police officers and detectives. Manage your headquarters and make best use of your budget to ensure the best standards of law enforcement and hazard defense.
With increasing success in the fight against organized crime, you will take on greater responsibility and unlock new areas, units and enhancements. Good game- wait a minute.
There is the annoyance side: it gets difficult to manage your vehicles and officers as you progress. The UI is in my opinion good although major improvements could and should be made.
There are also many bugs. Another thing: units will NOT go back to the patrol you assigned them until you do it manually. Just why??
The game gets repetitive too, which you can expect from a police game. After a few hours, you will not find it fun to do the same mission with the same objectives, with just a few names modified.
Seriously, stick to another game. The developers abandoned this one completely.
In three, simple words: DO NOT BUY! It is not worth it for 20$.
A game with real potential and a very interesting workforce management concept. But so buggy, outdated AI, and an unfinished game feel. It's a shame!
Police Tactics: Imperio is a failed attempt to make some casual strategy, promoting the player to the role of the chief of some random police station.
On the terms level, the game's ok. There's some basic economics, going the usual 'calmer the district, better the funding', some base and staff development, and the game pace is supposed to be 'balanced', making the player involved in what is happening around, but not too overwhelmed. There is even some story pack of missions to follow!
Alas, it's all falling apart way too soon. The tutorial isn't really explaining much, but rather delays the entry into the game, while seriously limiting the basic development at the start.
The next major fault goes for that 'game pace balance'. You see, it's kind of the game where you have so few resources on the start as possible. And... the more cases you solve under that strict limit, the more new cases the game generates! As a result, in an hour or so, if you are trying to cover all the calls, the crime rate excels all the expectations! So, instead of making the district calmer, as a result, you only make things worse! To the point where even the 4 or 5 patrol teams (probably the best you can get at that point), will not be enough to fix it. More to it! In order to get things under control, you need to patrol the district, see? And you have some macros commands to automize the process. Actually, you can make a route for every car and officer-on-foot, to cover all the streets under your hand... But! At the same time, this game constantly produces some faults, which are breaking those auto-routes, so, you'll be always picking all of your units and sending them manually instead! And again, the game balance works like, the more law enforcement you apply, the more crime you get in return! Totally accurate social simulation, of course!
Speaking of the police life simulation, well... The game is automatizing all the basic work: crowd control and brawls breaking up, searching and analyzing the clues, looking for suspects... In the end, all that is left for you is simple time management, where you point your silly subordinates to some points on the map. And it feels all too retarded, in this regard. The crime rate is too high, and growing with your growth, often exceeding it by an order of magnitude. There are so many street brawls! And you know what? Your policemen have the only solution to it - kick in in that brawl and try to beat'em all! And even the maxed, top-notch SWAT-trained guys will be brawling with about the same success rate as your any-day rookies. And getting injuries as a result.
Thus, my mark is 5/10. Not the worst game I have, but seriously underdeveloped and lacks concept proof-reading playtesting. In one word, dull.
If this was in early access I'd say go for the buy, but alas it isn't and is considered "fully released" and appears to not have been updated since 2017.
So on that topic, there are plenty of bugs where units seem to get stuck and won't move which requires you to find them and then tell them to do a different task then back to the original so they "play as intended".
There were also instances where my units had +# compared to the difficulty of a task and they would still get their ass kicked, as well as the issue were some tasks for your PD to do seemed to be missing the suspects.
So again I'd love to recommend, but its just buggy to the point were it hurts to try to play on even when i want to.
Very buggy, it never gets updated so if your thinking of buying don't!
This game has a great concept, but that is about the end of it. The graphics are substandard, the game is very buggy at best, play is far to simple and does not live up to the advertisements. If I did not know any better, I would have thought this was an early access game, which the developers should probably go back and start again...
A interesting Concept towards managing police but sadly the execution is rather bumpy and buggy. The game allows you to control a police force, buying and upgrading units and the facilities to deal with the daily random issues, from riots to murders.
The big issues I had with this game that puts it in the hard to recommend is the following:
1. A.I - I found many times that the A.i were extremely buggy such as when tasking a unit to arrest someone they would sometimes just simply stand in front of the enemy while the enemy just stands there preventing the mission from completing. I also found that having units patrol sometimes doesn't work as they would drive around the area only to bypass crimes that were right next to them and in their line of sight.
2. Path Finding - The A.i when driving seem fine with going to locations but sadly on foot it seems like a different story as units can phase through buildings while others get stuck on pretty much anything.
3. Game breaking Bugs - One issue I had were having units at base resting only to have them stuck there forever.....even when dispatching all units to a crime, I would have a few just standing in base unable to move or even get rid of. Another issue were missions as sometimes even though clearing out all the enemies..it would sometimes take a few minutes before the mission updates to complete.
4. Unclear Mission Objectives - many times I got fustrated with the side missions as they would ask me to investigate one area only to find out the area marked isn't the right area. Yeah I had one mission where it told me to search in this yellow area for the suspect only to find out the suspect was 4 blocks away from the marker and the only reason I found him was thanks to me watching a patrol unit driving around and seeing a suspious person standing around doing nothing.
Again overall the game is a hit and miss for me. I really want a good RTS police game but sadly this game has a lot of issues that it killed the immersion for me. It has a lot of good ideas but sadly the execution was poor.
Well I have just got this game and have ignored the bad feedback. I you can check my specs on my profile so I don't have the latest pc I build my own so upgrade when needed. But I have found no issues at all running this game its been very stable for me. I run on max and it looks lovely. The learning curve is not too bad and I do love sims and was looking for a good police one. I have 911 and a few others but needed something more a living city. And for me this game delivers. I love the gameplay and how the game looks. I would Recommend this game to anyone who is looking for a good police sim. It may have a few issues sure but nothing game breaking for me anyway. I would like to see more acivity from the Devs though. But I payed full price and think its worth it, even better if you wait for a sale.
Could have been so great... Ruined by so many small and mayor glitches that break the game completely. AI doens't route properly, and certain game critical missions are not possible to complete. After en hour, and good progress, I was not able to proceed becuase the mission was bugged. Seriously broken game, please don't buy. So disappointed, and even bought in a sale for a good price.
If a car gets stuck on the map, which it will, tough luck. You can't sell it because it is not back at base.
Missions called find and arrest can 9/10 times not be solved, regardless of how many people you chuck at it. One time I did complete the mission was because I was randomly patrolling and fell over the person who need to be arrested.
Properly ruined game, DON'T BUY !
*** Edit: After talking with one of the game developers a bit (via comment) I think that some of the balancing issues may be tweaked and fixed as the game is updated and patched. I think that the game has a solid enough foundation, it just needs to be fleshed out a bit more in some areas. If the developer makes another game like this in the future it will be interesting to see where they go with it and what they change.
This game is pretty frustrating, many times the storyline will throw missions that require your entire personel to complete and you'll watch helplessly as half of them are critically injured, making it hard to continue with the day-to-day missions that maintain your safety rating and provide your funding.
The music is repetitive and will become grating on your nerves quite quickly, the dispatcher voice is also relentless; I only unlocked 2 zones and it seemed like she was griping at me every 5 seconds. "Stabbing reported, robbery reported, theft reported, riot reported, we failed to solve the case. etc etc etc"
I was bought and played it hoping to enjoy a fun police sim with a slightly dramatic storyline of crime syndicate esk style intrigue, but the experience is just too tedious and unbalanced, give it a pass.
I am not a person that writes a lot of reviews but I wanted to make an exception for Police Tactics: Imperio. I see that thee is a lot of negative reviews about the UI being clunky or the interface not being well fleshed out etc. but honestly it isn't that bad. For those that played the emergency series, the UI is very similar and understanding what's what doesn't take long.
It's not a game for everybody, if you like simulations, and want to play a police strategy/simulation game (and if I am not wrong it's the only one that exists) I think you will have fun with it. For how long? I couldn't say since it really depends on you and your playstyle but I believe there is enough for a 20$ price tag.
And I think the developpers have tried to be quite responsive, as you can see the updates are still coming in, they added some features that were requested by the community e.g. the pause function, and they are fixing bugs at every patch.
If you are on the fence abut buying this game or not I would recommend it but beware : Very specific setting and very specific genre (don't buy this if you expect an arcade game)
Hope this helps guys
It's a good time filler. As a super fan of police type games, I had to check this out, and whilst it's not the most advanced sim out there, it ticks a few boxes and fills the time nicely.
Summary:
It's a rather shallow police sim that will scratch an itch and keep you amused for a while.
In Police Tactics: Imperio, you start your career as an ambitious police chief in a big city that is dirty and corrupt to the core. It is your job to guarantee public safety and maintain order. Coordinate squad cars and police forces for the city police department and put an end to the crime wave.
Police Tactics: Imperio is a real-time strategy title where you must coordinate a range of different police units to uphold the law. As you progress you will encounter new units, upgrade and create new headquarters and offices, deal with time of day changes which impact the types and amounts of crime in certain areas and react to emergency scenarios.
Visually the style suits the game and does the job but it lacks the polish of some bigger releases. Animations are the biggest letdown – when you catch a criminal it moves into early 90s video game-style animation.
There’s a reasonable amount of content in Police Tactics: Imperio but after a couple of hours, you will feel like you’ve seen it all before. Having said that, I did quite enjoy running a police precinct so if you can put up with a lot of the annoyances this could be worth a look, especially considering the price point.
THE GOOD
- Coordinate a multitude of different police units
- Unlock city precincts, improvements, and new units
- Manage and improve your headquarters and your units
- Realistic vehicles, with a choice between US and German police units
- Dynamic day and night cycle
- Good voice acting
THE BAD
- Zoom is limited
- Restricted top-down view
- Scrolling around is slow
- Lack of ability to follow a unit
- Setting patrol routes is frustrating
7/10

If you like emergency sim games this will be for you.
Creators really responsive to customers. Within a short period of time included the pause button and dealt with bugs.
Hoping to see continued developement on this version and future games. This is a great sim and improvement over previous police/crime sims.
This game is good and is totally playable without the pause button despite what other people here seems to think. I'm not a sim game veteran, acually this is the first emergency sim I have ever played.
There is always enough time to finish whatever you are doing befor responding to a call. There is a timer on each call that ticks down untill you fail to respond to the call and that timer is not 10 seconds, A quick advise is to not panic eaverytime you get a call but to take your time. And besides, What policedepartment have a 100% record on solving all cases reported to them.
8/10
It starts out great at the start but the more you progress the more it demands out of you which yes is realistic and I like that, but when the UI is difficult to navigate and you spend 5+ minutes just trying to find officers and cars on the map it becomes tiresome and annoying. Officers do not go back to the predefined patrol that you want them to after you dispatch them to a crime scene and there are general bug issues. So if you forget where your officers were on the last callout, you can spend quite some time looking for them. I'd prefer a free play mode where I can just manage a small area to start. It's not a bad game but I think it should have been released as early access first. That way it could be developed into a really great game that competes with 911 emergency responders. I also have a better gaming laptop and the load times and frame rate is not that optimal. I think with some more development and community involvement this game has real potential but I can’t recommend it right now as a full game. If it was early access I would recommend it.
** I just wanted to point out that this review really isn't a complaint. I just feel that there are some gameplay issues that take away from the overall fun level and if released as early access that would have allowed me to have given it a thumbs up. A lot of my favorite games started out in early access. Keep up the good work and keep involving the community, some developers refuse to do that and turn into a flop and I don't want to see that happen with this one.
I love this game, I really do. I love how you have to work to be on top of the crime rate, as in you have to make sure you're covering all areas with a patrol unit.
One thing I'd love to see is a dedicated Sandbox, so I don't get prompted once in a while by the Inspector in the tutorial but I'm sure you don't have to do all the story missions but you'll get more out of playing them!
If you want a really decent management game, get this one. It's really good and I'm sure updates will come out soon so you'll be able to get more out of it!
Gets repetitive real fast. Not much content, lack of detail and poor UI. And most of all, i cant stand the micro management of the officers and detectives. Why do i have to tell the detective to talk to each of the 4 eye witnesses every time. I think they should know how to do their job. All i want is to coordinate the force around town where they are most needed and watch them work and/or send backup if needed. Not tell them to do every menial task.
This game needs a lot of work done before it is playable. When playing tha game, the most annoying bug would be that my units often got stuck. When planning in strategic view, the buildings would not display the color indicating if it was a safe neighbourhood or not. When playing the game for 55 minutes, and already seeing theese bugs and more, I decided to ask for a refund.
so the reviews are mixed, dont let that turn you away, this is actually a decent game, and im thoroughly enjoying it, and you know what, people are idiots, games like Shower with your dad are overwhelmingly positive and this is just mixed, it kind of says alot. seriously its a decent game and its under $20, if youre into the emergency services get it, you will enjoy it.
