Top shelf fun here, just needs more players. It's F2P so TRY IT. Never got the advertisement or the chance it REALLY deserved, and it's a shame because the game has some really great stuff.

Cons - WoW in space vibe.
Cartoonish graphics some people can't seem to get past.
Needs more players to really shine.
Storylines can occasionally venture into cliche territory.

Pros - WoW in space vibe.
Cartoonish graphics look less dated than "realistic" games, with time.
Graphics also very stylized, atmospheric and expressive, awesome art.
Existing community rocks, very helpful/friendly.
LOTS to do, frequent minigames help break up monotony, from fending off hordes of animals to hoverboard time trials to picking up trash, and tons more.
Lots to explore, plenty of things to discover and new things/areas to see.
Great storylines, even when venturing into clicheville, there's enough substance to make it an enjoyable ride.
Great sense of humor, doesn't take itself too seriously, frequently irreverent, even to the point of poking fun at the aforementioned storyline cliches. Evil space corporation Protostar and its ads/disclaimers for example.
Space bikinis for big ol' jiggly butts.
Player housing is really pretty cool, and has some TANGIBLE benefits depending on your tradeskill selections etc.
Decent crafting system. It's not as involved as say, Star Wars Galaxies, but there's an experimentation and discovery element to it that puts it a notch above most games.

JUST TRY IT. Thank me later.

Great game with a cool casual twist.

Its ftp. The ftp model so far seems legit and honest. DL this game, play, explore and give it a chance. Its starts to get really interesting after lvl 10.
You can sub or buy things from the cash shop. But not PTW other than subs get xp bonuses and some other goodies. Cash shop consists of usual goodies to change looks and mounts etc etc.
I think its worth throwing a few bucks in to support the devs.

The world itself is very cool and the unique art style coupled with funny voice acting is a treat. The combat is great and can be fast or slow depending on where you are. The world bosses are stunning and the community are very intuitive and willing to lend a hand. Great crafting system coupled with, well its just different. Come check it out.

EDIT-03/17- Now that I have some hours behind me. This game is still a treat. The population is stable and there never seems to be an issue finding groups and raids. The crafting is fun. The PVP is great and just a very under rated MMO. Its a shame really. If Carbine had WoW's budget or GW2 moolah, dang. Great community. Good guilds and really ridic housing. I dont think I have seen this much attention given to housing, or should i say mansioning?? LOL.

Its free. What do you have to lose? Pop in and say, sup.

This game has a stunning pve/story levelling experience, but the real reward is at endgame for me! I love to raid, and the raiding experience is nothing short of my favorite of any MMO I've played. (My actual time played as of writing this review is somewhere in 2000 hours, and I almost solely log in to raid at this point). It's active, engaging, and challenging, no matter how many times you clear an encounter.

However, if raiding isn't for you, in the endgame you can also fill your time with housing. Wildstar has the most beauftiful, fleshed out housing of any MMO by miles. Though I've never finished my own housing plot, there's hundreds of hours to be found there if that's what you enjoy! There's also an active RP community.

Wildstar has tons of beautiful zones, things to see, and do. This MMO owns my heart, and I doubt I'll ever be able to fully commit to another as long as it exists.

As a new player - and being a level 12 after 15 hours (and lvl22 after 36hr) - i have a few things to say about the game.
first of all the controls - for me they took a bit of getting used to - though that may be because i haven't played an MMO in a long while - and i'm still messing up my dodging but that will get better with practice. . . and you do have to dodge alot. There is alot of movement required in this game especially when you have multiple mobs on you also you need to be constantly turning to get out of their weapons range. It makes the combat system intresting and needing focus.
Combat can be customised by changing your attacks and leveling up only the ones you want to use and those points can easily be redistributed if you decie on another line up - this allows you to have multiple options however i haven't been able to work out if you can change the line up without having to open up the actual box.
quests are mostly the standard go get this, find that, interact with something, kill that speices - but it doesn't give you numbers instead theres a percentage which is an intresting feature, the quest narrative is intresting to read and will tell you more backstory and more information about the world and the people. There are a few differant quests to mix things up - such as having to use an item or being turned into a creature to find and dig something up.
The lore is awesome. completly awesome. As you go along you'll find books and if you choose scientist will also look for datacubes which give you even more lore. Getting the datacubes is also a great way to see more of the landscape and it's fun trying to figure out where the cube is and how to get at it. though it can be frustrating to come up against a wall and not be able to find a way around it, it takes a bit of patients and perceverance at times.
The housing is really cool. Your given several plots where you can place plots like your house, a crafting place and a garden. and then you can put your decor whereever you feel like it - you get decor as quest rewards and drops or you can buy them and place then wherever you like, hoever you like - at the minute i have a floating mushroom :P
i've only just got the crafting system so only really played with cooking - which is useful up to a point you can only eat outside of combat but the food does give buffs which last 30 minutes - and architects which also looks intresting and usefull - and the resource points look like carrots and trees on the map which is an amusing little feature :D
Leveling - as mentioned it's taken me 15 hours to get to level 12 - for me this is fine i'm more intrested in the lore, the quests and just running around exploring. I haven't been grinding mobs just doing the quests which seems to be working for me. - The xp event has obviously boosted me up which is both good and slightly annoying as i almost missed a quest line until i wondered why i'd gone from level 15 quest to 18 but it does make it slightly easier being a bit higher than the mobs.
So all that was great but i do have a couple of downsides.
As have been mentioned on other reviews there is a lack of player i've only see a few other people as i've been running around but the chat box is constantly moving with chatter which is great. The other downside is that at times i have trouble seeing where i'm going there have been 2 quests where you had to go into caves and i was in the dark and couldn't see a thing i don't know if i was missing something but it made doing that quest without dying slightly difficult.
On the whole i'm really loving this game and i hope that people will give it a shot.

I have loved wildstar since launch. It is a shame that most MMO players are so addicted to world of warcraft that any other IP's dont get the chance they deserve.

Probably the kindest ftp game avaliable, with tons of group PvE MMO content that is entirely free for players to access. Despite popularity issues, Wildstar has updated itself to provide a better experience for new and returning players.

I wish steam had a neutral feature because i am going to be listing a lot of negative aspects but also a lot of posotives.

Do i think you should give wildstar a try?
Yes. Absoloutly 100%

I may not have the steam hours but i am a wildstar Veteran i started playing since it's first ever closed beta and i have 4 characters level 50 (2 for both factions.)

The combat system is fluid the voice acting is great and the housing is fantastic if you have an imagination.

But here come the negatives, the game isn't exactly doing well and seems to have 2 feet in the grave at this point it is rare you will find another player aside from the capital city or the starting zone in addition to this quing for PVP takes forever and is a pain if you just want a quick match before bed or something.

In addition to this if you are like me and don't have a guild or have no interest in raiding and don't want to wait for the PVP que wildstar becomes a bit lackluster after a while.

Once you have your character decked out it becomes harder and harder to have fun.

NCSOFT is focusing on skin packs rather than new area's and when they do add new area's they aren't that appealing to anyone. For example they added Arcterra on paper sounds like an amazing idea.

Multiple world bosses whichever faction kills the most unlocks a dungeon for their faction great idea!

Problem is arcterra is just boring its piles of snowy mountains with a few bosses and without a group there is no way you will defeat them in time.

With all this being said wildstar is amazing for it's journy, leveling up to 50 for the first time is one of the most satisfying experiances i have ever had & the reaction of my guild when i announced i had finally reached 50 puts a smile on my face everytime i think about it.

I reccomend wildstar highly just don't expect to have lots and lots to do if you are Solo or don't plan on joining a large guild in endgame.

I wish they'd given this the polish they'd given Guild Wars. Still, it's got my attentiion so far.

If I remember right, it launched with a monthly fee. It's certainly not worth that. Dropping it for a free-to-play model was the best move they could have made.

It's easier for a computer to handle the graphics of GW2, which seems crazy. If they ever make some tweeks to improve frame rates, that would be fantastic.

I'll be playing for a while at least, before I finally decide to keep it casual or spend some real world cash.

Wildstar is an MMO that deserves a look.
Even for a small bit. Play through the tutorial and the games first leveling zone, and then make a decision if this is a MMO for you.
Or you can read the rest of what I have to say and make a slightly uninformed judgement based on the opinions of other people
...

PROS ~
+Combat - The Combat here is fluid and actually feels like you're making a dent, I play a Spellslinger so I'm naturally dodging around the enemy shooting as many holes as I can, and it feels great.

+Class Skill Building - As an extension to combat are skills and other...combaty things. Back to point is like most MMO's as you level up a class you unlock skills and attacks you can then assaign to your hotbar for use. HOWEVER, you also get AMP's and Upgrade Points that can increse character stats or even upgrade your skills entirely, respectively.

+The World - Nexus is gorgeous, The whole artstyle I could call a 'Cell-Shaded 80's Saturday Morning Cartoon'. It knows when to use color and when to turn up the spooks and edge and darkness. From Bright colorful forests of Celestion to the Orange Savannahs of Deradune to the Purple Strain of BlightHaven, it's just gorgeous

+Character - This game's humor is something I would liken to a slightly toned down Borderlands style of humor, if you want, Go onto Carbine's youtube and look up their Wildstar shorts, besides the fact that they are pretty funny on their own right, they do a good job at explaing basic concepts of the game (Classes, Paths, Races, Ect) Speaking of...

+Paths - Besides choosing a class you also are given a choice of a Path, which is pretty much how you enjoy playing MMO's. Like exploring an area and spamming your jump key? Explorer Path. Want to know the ins and outs of a Rowsdower and learn all you can about the lore of this game? Scientist Path. Enjoy being a team player and bring neccesities like shops to the farthest reaches? Settler Path. Just like killing shit? Warrior Path

+Housing - Holy shit, Wildstars Housing is one of the best housing systens ive ever seen. YOU CAN PUT ANYTHING ANYWHERE, WANT A FIFTY FOOT TEDDYBEAR OVERLOOKING A QUAINT GARDEN TEAPARTY? YOU CAN DO THAT NO PROBLEM. Sorry, I get exited about housing

+Music - I make it a point to always listen to a games soundtrack, and Wildstar is one of the best I've heard. It's a big mesh of Sci-fi, Western, and 80's Action Film. It's such a treat to listen too. And hey, Officially released VG OSTS are always a win in my book

MIDDLEGROUND ~
~ Cash Shop - I'm putting the cash shop here because I don't see it as a good thing or a bad thing. Most of what you'll find there are cosmetic costumes, dyes, housing items and mounts. The most 'Pay to Win' thing is a Faster Mount Speed License. No overpowered weapons or armor. Not to mention as you play Wildstar you'll acquire a currency caleld Omnibits, which are used in the Cash Shop, and you get them EVERYWHERE

~ Crafting - Crafting is a hard system to pull off in anygame, they all have their quirks.

CONS ~
-Pacing - Wildstar has a level cap of 50. and I've been playing this game on/off since it's release in June 2014. I'm only level 25. Something about it's pacing spends too long on one sub area and not enough on another. However, I never feel like I'm under leveled or over leveled

-UI - The UI is just....less then ok, if you dont mind mods, find a good UI overhaul. Hopefully one that isnt a worse looking 'Minimalist' UI

-Playerbase - Unfortunatly, a steam release didnt bring in the hordes of people Carbine were expecting, If you're expecting to find massive ammounts of players like in The Broken Isles or Idylshire, look elseware. If you're like me and enjoy some quiet time in an MMO, Wildstar fits the bill

I give this game a 'Wii U/'10 - It's not as well known or as big as it's other MMO Cousins, but what is there is a solid release with a few quirks, at least give it a try.

I've only got about 15 hours logged on steam, but when I played at launch I probably had about 50-60 more. The only thing that has been stopping me from coming back was the lack of players in the community, but from what I've been reading on reddit, youtube, etc. there are more and more people coming back! I was a part of the paradox where "There needs to be more people to play, so I won't play until that happens" but solving that problem starts with just playing the game yourself. I feel like a lot of people think about this the same way that I did, and if that is the case - just start playing. You will run into people and find groups through the nexus chat, and you will find that there is a nice community of players that are more than willing to help you out or just make conversation with.

I got one word for ya, fellas. Housing.
The housing in this game is a game in and of itself. It's getting better like, every patch and there's so much you can do with it. Want a cave? YOU CAN BUILD YOUR ASS A CAVE. Want a small, rustic, dusty town? They got you covered with everything you could want.

The gameplay and combat are pretty dang nifty too. not just a sit there and shoot it, you have to move and jump and avoid attacks in real time. Builds are pretty flexible, and there are plenty of people who'll help you out.
The RP community is rather large and the majority of them are friendly as heck.
I've had a lot of good experiences on this game and totes recommend it for anyone lookin' for a gorgeous layout, hilarious and snarky dialogue, and endless ways to decorate your own space and yourself? Go for it.

Ignore the people with comments about not reaching in the character creation. I've also had problems at the start but luckily it was a quick fix. So far wildstar has been a refreshing MMO for me. There's definitely lots of things to do in wildstar that wont get repetitive as compared to the other common MMOs i've played so far. WILDSTAR deserves more players and another shot!

It's a good MMO FOR Free, nice game play, the monsters have a good designer, you can construct your on house and all stuff around....but in my experience in this game i found very difficult find someone to play, did a lot of missions alone and the term MMO for me did not exist.

I first tried this game out a year ago, after hearing some positive reviews. I felt disappointed, and quit soon after I started. A year later, I came back out of boredom at the current mmo market, inflated with mobas and fps'. Wildstar really suprised me with its depth and fun gameplay, hidden beneath its colorful art scheme and low population. While mantaining such a fine level of polish, Wildstar even aimed to be f2p, and not p2w. This game is not dead, and what it needs most right now is players to come and join the community, because this is a great game that deserves much better. Please give this game a shot, and support these wonderful devs who have tried their best.

This game makes up for its cookie cutter questing and leveling with fluid action combat and hilarious banter. Seriously... this game is funny as helI! While there are set classes they give you a pretty good amount of personal build customization as well as vanity customization. You can play the entire game start to finish without spending a penny. Community is abundent and helpful. There is also a subclass you can pick to do extra stuff around the maps. There are loads of challenges and quests. Wildstar is a great game! 8/10, Would kick Lopps again.

I recommend this game to anyone, but sadly my toaster of a laptop can't run it. The 14 and a half hours that I've logged into this game was spending a long time making my character, play the tutorial, crash, rinse and repeat. Wasn't the game's fault that it crashed. Turns out that my crappy graphics card can't handle the open-world thing that this game has, and so I can't play the full game. But yeah, that's my only complaint. Go play this wonderful game, but make sure you have a computer more powerful than a melted toaster.

I've been playing wildstar off and on since launch. I firmly beleive that it is the most fair and upfront f2p mmo's out there. With most of the cash shop items avaliable via an in game currency f2p players will have no problem standing side by side with subscribed players in any form of content.

Wildstar has a unique asthetic that seems to be love it or hate it and alongside that it has a combat system that truly does take some getting used to. So if you want a game that's familiar to what you've played in the past then this isn't the game for you. But if you want a high skill cieling game that has dark souls level of gratification after downing a boss this is the game for you!

Suggestions:
1. FIND A GUILD - The best place to find a guild is through the wildstar reddit. Head over there and try to find some people who are like minded. Having people to help you and guide you into Wildstar is an absolute must!
2. USE CHAT - Queing sucks in this game but the community is awesome! If you're trying to get something done do a /n to enter nexus chat and ask. Most of the time people are totally willing to help.
3. MAKE FRIENDS - This compounds with 1 and 2. Bolster your friends list with people to play with! Hell you can add me and hit me up if you need some help. IGN: Tearie Hex
4. TRY THE MOUSELOOK MODE - So this is a mode that makes the game feel more like Tera or Neverwinter turning your left and right mouse click into skills as well as locking your camera to your mouse. This little feature can make a HUGE difference for a lot of people and it could make the difference for you. To enable this go to the escape menu > Controls > and check the top 3 boxes in the mouselook mode section.

I hope these little tips help you when starting out! Head into nexus with an open mind and a willingness to play a game that approaches combat in a different way and you'll have a lot of fun!
