I'll back this game up because it's simple and good. You can relax with a beer and play hassle free. It has all the bells and whistles, including your own music. No issues with it so far.
SO RACK EM up & Enjoy...

This game cheats. When playing 10-ball, the opponent can win a frame by planting the 10, but whenever I do so the ball just gets re-spotted.
curly's a bitch
This is like if your local public television station collaborated with EA to create the Assetto Corsa of cue sport games
Best game in my library. It has the best physics , which beats other games and goes No.1 in my gameslist
Might not be the newest nor the best Graphics and best Interface, but indeed the best Realistic like in IRL, and have every Pool game mode and so many kind of tables and cues that really differs in Physics.
Playing against the computer it cheats and ramps up the oppositions ability if you start to play better than usual. I have never seen as many in0ffs for the white ball in real games. Balls jawing in pockets is overboard, someone in programming forgot about the law of inertia. Number of accidental snookers is unbelievable.
Good game ruined by bad programming.
If you are really into pool, and know at least the basics of it, this game will drive you nuts. As a video game, it's probably the best pool game out there.
Good quality, enjoyable, low spec game
Pure pool is the game to buy better mechanics and visuals, virtual pool 4 is like an ash tray on a honda 50,
NOT RECOMMENEDED!!!!!!!!!
yes
I never scratch this much playing real pool.
I used to play a lot of pool and I mean a lot. In the FargoRate Pool Player Rating System I was somewhere in the 500 to 600 range. So I was pretty excited when I came across Virtual Pool 4. It is one of the best pool simulation games I have ever played and I have tried a few. There are others that come close, but none that replicate what is feels like to walk around a pool table and play a game as well as VP4 does. From the atmosphere of each venue to the look and feel of the various tables available - VP4 brings the game to the PC about as well as one can imagine. The only thing that could make it better in my mind would be a 3D version because what VP4 cannot do, is give you the spatial view needed to completely replicate what it's like to play pool - but it comes dang close. It cannot replicate the impact of poor stick control either which can be a pretty significant asset or hindrance when it comes to skill level. But all things being considered, it's a small factor.
If you have never played pool or are just new to computer pool games, the tutorial does a great job of teaching newbies the basic skills needed to learn the game and start playing pretty quickly. For more accomplished players like myself, there are additional Video Lessons that dig into the intricacies of playing pool that can actually help take your real game to a new level. Especially with the replay and do-over options which allow you to see where you might have went wrong with a particular shot or made a great shot you want to see again, or try over again using different speed or English on the ball.
One of the coolest things though is the Training Aids available like; Ghost Ball, Aim Path and Ball Tracking. Aim Path is a must for new players too help them get a feel for where to contact the object ball to get the desired results. Ball Tracking can help to show how English and speed variations can impact a shot...and not just the object ball(s), but every ball on the table. It's a little overwhelming at first too be honest, but if you spend some time with it, you can learn a lot.
Another thing that sets VP4 apart are the Career Play options. Having a way to challenge yourself and improve your skills with a goal in mind really adds value to the game. Plus there seems to be a healthy online presence, which I have not tried yet, where you can try your luck against live opponents...which is way cool.
My biggest complaint with the game is the computer opponent play, which is very inconsistent and unrealistic which takes away from the realism and enjoyment of the game somewhat. Especially at the higher ranks where they often miss super easy shots, sometimes three or four in a row, to then go on a streak sinking very hard shots leaving the cue ball in the perfect position regardless of how many banks the cue ball hits. Many times the computer players strike balls very hard shot after shot - much harder than any decent player would ever strike a ball and it does not matter how difficult the shot is either. That is just not realistic pool play. Not to say a pro cannot do that, but it's a little ridiculous how often it happens. Real top players rarely miss gimmie shots either which often happens on successive shots - not likely.
When I first started playing VP4 I could not play as well as I play in real life. Like I mentioned the game does a great job replicating the game of pool, but it lacks that spatial feel. That said, over time, like most computer games, you figure out how to get the job done. It might not be as "real" as real life pool but it's pretty close so making good shots and winning games is still very gratifying.
VP4 is a big win for me even with the inconsistent and unrealistic computer play. I look forward to going on line and will edit this review when I do.
Solid game, best of the bunch and tried most of them now. My average snooker break is similar in RL as it is in the game, which just confirms how much I need the practice :D
I've been playing the "Virtual" series of Snooker and Pool games since I was a kid in the MS DOS games. Loved it then and now.
Awesome game, as a fan of the whole Virtual Pool/Snooker series, this one is a masterpiece
Always online (and connected) requirement. This isn't listed on the store page.
