Описание

Welcome to the Realm of Six Seasons, where the predictable cycle of nature's seasons has turned constantly since time began. But now, something is wrong.

A bright Summer's day ends in a snowy Winter's eve. The next morning brings a burst of colorful Autumn leaves and even that is followed by a surprising deluge of Springtime rains. Something (or someone) is tampering with the precious Seasons, making a complete mess of the Realm.

The Druids of the Esoteric Orders have long fostered this fertile landscape and tended to this delicate mystical balance. And it is up to Warren, a young druid fresh from his Esoteric Training, to discover what is causing this disastrous mixing of Seasons.

With a game board that changes based on players’ actions, and units that each have powerful animal abilities, you’ll need to stay focused and never let your guard down.

Whether it’s the single player story told across more than 130 levels, local or online multiplayer for up to 4 players, there’s enough variety for new and experienced players.

The professionally composed soundtrack and recorded music brings the Six Seasons beautifully to life.

Nothing is random in A Druid's Duel. A simple set of rules governs the board, allowing the game to be learned quickly, with various difficulty settings to match your current ability. But at its highest difficulty expect to spend months mastering the nuances that manipulating the board can create.

An absolute gem of a little game that I gladly came back to after many years (why I have so little time on Steam yet).

It's a perfect case study of depth over width. It creates a huge number of possibilities and strategies out of very few game pieces and rules, where leads matter and yet there are nailbitingly close games and incredible turnarounds.

The campaign mode perfectly carries this concept with some light narration, but leaving all the spotlight on the actual gameplay and increasingly harsh challenges (that you may want to revisit as there is a simple 3-star grading system for your results) and great map design.

It's also the polar opposite of the grind time wasters many genres have developed into. Matches are short and yet almost every single one is memorable. Absolute 10/10 for the price and to get a lot of enjoyment out of little time.

Have to pass on this one.
The simplicity is great at first, then it just becomes repetition.
It never evolves and brings anything really new to the game. The maps don't get any more interesting, just a little larger. AI is very lacking too, rather than become more clever as you progress, it just cheats more or tries to overwhelm you with numbers. Even then, it's very easy to manipulate it.

The idea behind the game is fun but the AI gets ridiculous too quickly. After only a couple hours, the game ramps up the difficulty way too high and the AI seems to target you no matter what the situation is. After the first world you end up playing against two other teams, it's a free for all so the other AI teams could fight each other. The problem lies with AI focusing on you, even if it's to their own disadvantage, just making the game frustrating for the player. The first couple hours were really fun and a unique strategy game mixed with a board game but how quickly the difficulty ramps up for no reason makes the game just frustrating and not very fun. I stopped playing a couple levels into the second world because of it and at this point, can't recommend the game.

An entertaining puzzler. Let me start off by saying that the game is HUGE. You're definitely getting your money's worth in content. Second, the online scene is pretty dead at this point, but if you have a friend who is willing to play, it's simply a more interesting version of chess with more replay value. The game is easy to get into, but if you're willing to take a dive, there is alot of depth in the systems, even down to the value of individual tiles. I think there is really only one big downside to the game, and that is the AI. It is not very smart, and in many scenarios, you will win a level simply by replaying it until the enemy makes a big mistake, and then capitalize on it (this becomes extra apparent during boss-battles). Overall though, I give this Druid's duel a big thumbs up!

This game started out very well but about an hour in you will realize that its the same thing over and over. Theres no progression, there are no levels, there is a very thin story that holds 0 interest, there is one tile set and the characters you have at the start are going to be the same to the end.

The game has 0 variety while lasting way to long. I got through the second chapter in about 2 hours or so and there are 4 more which would make the game roughly 6-7 hours long. Theres just no way I could finish this game knowing its going to be the same thing for 5 more hours.

The game itself is a very fun and simple strategy concept with quick rounds and decent amounts of depth considering the easy rules. I'd recommend it if you intend on playing it single player.

The online multiplayer, however, is an absolute shitshow. I bought the 2 pack to play with a friend, and in the duration of one ~half hour session, we experienced the following:
- Whether we were able to join each other seemed like a complete dice roll; we just had to keep making new games until one finally became visible in the games list. There's no invitation system.
- Upon joining me one time, friend's game did not load the board or characters and they had to quit.
- Said game then became invisible forever, despite both of us attempting restarts/rejoins.
- Seemingly random server disconnects that cause your turn to be reset to the beginning.
- Friend's "end turn" button completely broke; when pressed, nothing happened on my end, it only affected fairies on their end.

In addition, you also have to sign up for an account JUST for this game and use their friends list system on their website if you want to play online. The online interface in general is terrible as well; there's not even any way to see who you're playing against while you're ingame, and there's no local chat (only global).

Note that this was with cross-platform Windows/Linux play. I don't know if that makes it more likely to break, but broken is broken.

Again, the core game is fine. This review takes into account that I bought this entirely for the online component.

I liked it until I realized that the enemy can attack a druid with an Eagle, I can't. The enemy can destroy ground under me, but in the same setup I cannot from theirs. At the point when the enemy turtle was floating in the air (I kid you not) at the end of their turn, I called quits. If the unfairness was for a plot reason, some explanation sure would have helped.

As a strategy game fan I really wanted to like this game. I completed the first campaign and somewhat enjoyed myself, although I was disappointed by the poor AI.

Then I started the second campaign and I realized how poorly the single played game is. To compensate for the poor AI the developer has decided to tilt the odds very much in favour of the AI players by giving them many more units and/or more highly valued units. In addition, the AI player is given more open territory making rapid expansion much easier.

As others have said, the way to win these scenarios is to trick the computer AI into fighting each other. I'm not interesting in learning these tricks, this isn't strategy gaming.

So unfortunately, as a single player game, this game is a bust. I think multi player could be very enjoyable but I'm not interested in that.

As I single player game I would rate this as 2 out of 10. As a multi player only game, I would rate it as 7 out of 10.

PRO:
- Human vs. Human multiplayer.
- Solid gameplay.
- Good music, sound, graphics and consistent theme of Nature and Druids.
- Easy to pick up and play, short and simplistic gameplay.

CON:
- Short and simple can be both good and bad thing, depending on whether you want more complex and large scale strategy.
- Self-repeating and boring single player Campaign.
- Disgustingly poorly made Boss fights in Campaign. I mean absolutely disgusting.

RESULT:
Good and quick paced terratory control and unit management strategy game. Fun with friends, just steer away from the single player experience.

A rather unusual concept - think of it less like a traditional tactical RPG, i.e. Final Fantasy Tactics et al, and more like.. half that and half chess/checkers. Units don't really have spells/abilities/attack/def/HP/etc., they each are a 'type' and each type has a movement/attack range and an animal transformation that lets them move/attack in an unusual fashion (movement/attacks are usually one space/one attack per turn, at a glance.)

If you're looking for a turn-based grid-based tactical RPG with character classes/levels/etc., then look elsewhere. If the appeal of something of a light dusting of that plus some puzzle/logic/forward thinking used in chess, then this game may be for you.

Beautiful simple presentation, but gameplay a little too simplistic and missing some important polish features.

Lacking a tutorial, though it does have a series of help pages. Doesn't appear to have any comeback potential once you fall behind. Needs better in-game feedback (tooltips, movement ranges and options on hover, etc.).

This will definitely appeal to some people, but doesn't work for me.

-Adorable art style
-Unique gameplay (from what I have typically played)
-I was afraid it'd get too easy after while... So far i have hit a few points where i struggled slightly but nothing too hard, so i still fear it may reach a point where there is no challenge..
-Music gets old after a short while...
-Haven't ever tried multiplayer but you have to sign on to some outside source in order to connect and it is too overcomplicated so i don't even want to bother.
-I can't play this game for more than an hour or so at a time really otherwise i get bored

Overall i do enjoy this game and it was worth the $5 or $10 i paid for it... I don't think i'd pay more than $10. It is one of those games i always go to when i only have like 30 minutes or so and want to just play a few rounds of a simple game. It is a fun, easy-going game to play, and nice to look at too.

Fun game. The only problem is one of variety once you've played for a while. Druids in this game come in 4 flavors: wolf, eagle, bear, and turtle. This plays like a battle chess game, winning is based on controlling the board and gaining momentum. Had a hard time finding other live players, so I've mostly played the AI campaign.

If you're looking for a fun little game, this isn't bad. If you're looking for a strategy game, it still needs quite a bit of improvement. Every multiplayer map suffers from severe First Move Advantage, and One on One is the way I wanted to play a strategy game like this (since I found it reminiscent of chess), but this game is currently not designed for that.

Single Player is just an excercise in manipulating the enemy AI to fight each other and not you. Not too much different than most other single player strategy game ecperiences, but it includes "False Path" maps that are really frustrating and can add hours onto your play time by forcing you to replay levels you already beat.

Levels are small and there's no expandability or map maker.

For $10 I can't really recommend it at this point in time. Wait for it to go on sale and it's a cool little diversion, or wait for the next version and we'll see if it fixes some of these problems.

UPDATE: The developer, Kris, has been very active on the forums. He's taken all the feedback we've given and in a short month, been able to add multiple features such as a tournament settings mode, a live mutliplayer mode (not async-only anymore), live chat, campaign changes etc. There's more in the patch. Very surprised at the level of dedication and involvement from the developer. Check out the game!

Interesting tactical game. The gameplay mechanics and unit classes are very fun. There is a singleplayer campaign, but I bought it mainly for the multiplayer, because there are several game modes (1v1, 3-player 1v1v1 and even 4-players versus each other, with 20+ maps). Downside is that it is asynchronous unless your opponents are present and playing automatically. Developer has shown interest in improving and making quicker games, hope they add a live game mode option (or shorter time-to-take-turn). Nice little game to pass time. I would reccommend if: 1) you dont mind asynchronous game, 2) you enjoy and support tactical turn-based games. I mainly bought it bc I support this genre and these turn-based pvp games come too few and far between.

With that said, I am not sure how big the multiplayer base will be, and it is a one-man-developer team so there are some inevitable limitations that come with that. There are several updates planned to be released, so definitely a game to look out for. If you're buying for multiplayer, I'd recommend waiting to see how the MP updates turn out.

It's like chess, but like, not chess. But seriously though, the mechanics work really well. The rules are very simple, it's easy to pick up, yet they lead to a lot of diversity in strategy.

I do have two problems with it though. Despite what some sources may lead you to believe, there is an element of RNG: fairies. They randomly spawn on the map and they give mana, allowing you to make more actions. I understand the logic here with adding some level of chance to make things a bit more interesting but lucky fairies early in the game lead to some very serious snowballing. My suggestion would be to delay fairies until turn 2, or maybe prevent fairies spawning next to druids during turn 1.

The other problem is to do with the limited screen resolution options (limited to 4:3), but it doesn't bother me too much. I want to play it windowed anyway.

Overall, a mechanically great game with a cool artstyle! We need more people on multiplayer.

UPDATE (2/4/2015): So I randomly lost my campaign savegame... No idea how it happened, but it happened. Oh well. Multiplayer is where it's at!

A Druid's Duel has a lot more going for it than what meets the eye. This is no *simple* turn based strategy game. A couple mistakes - or even just one - and you'll find yourself being overrun by the AI, which is rather unforgiving, even at normal difficulty.

You got four different units, each with their strengths and weaknesses. How you operate them is easily learned, but how to use them properly takes a bit of practice. They also have a special ability each, which further adds to the depth of the strategy and combat. Your ranged units can turn into eagles with a teleporting long range attack. The basic melee unit can turn into a wolf for further movement and exploration and so on. MAP CONTROL and RESOURCE MANAGEMENT is key to VICTORY (otherwise, you'll mess things up like I did the first difficult maps).

I cannot say much about the campaign/storyline so far, but it looks like there are a good number of maps you have available. I enjoy the graphics and the style of the game as well.

The only complaint so far is that I'm unable to set the resolution to 1920x1080. Future patch, perhaps?

"A good game for what it is, which is sort of spin off on chess where the board can be changed as you go along. Although it looks like it was primarily made for ipad, which it probably was."

A game that is "easy to learn - difficult to master", where you control your own circle of druids. These druids can transform, depending on their skills, into 4 different animals - a wolf, an eagle, a bear and a tortoise. Each of these druids have a different amount of moves and way of attacking, which also change with their form. The game is played out on a board that can be altered during the game by destroying tiles (sending the unwary occupant into the abyss) or creating new tiles or bridges. Not all of these thing can be done immediately though. The land creation and destruction is not available unless you have a tortoise druid (this is his way of attacking). You can transform your druids or summon new ones to any of the tiles you own by the use of mana. Mana is gained at the start of each round, based on the amount of tiles you got. The goal of the game is to take all the tiles from your opponent(s) (since this will leave them without mana, unable to do anything).

I have yet to encounter problems with it, apart from the mouse optimization where the point and click system is not a 100% accurate, leading you to clicking the wrong tile.

It's a very simple, but highly strategical game that makes you think extra carefully about every move. If you like chess then you will most certainly enjoy this.

Very cool entry into the turn-based strategy genre. All the combat is one-hit kills so it's all strategy- no luck involved. Your task is to secure every enemy-held tile on the board. Each tile acquisition increases your mana which is used to spawn more units or use special abilities to increase movement/attack range and create or destroy tiles and obstacles. There are only 4 different classes so the options are limited to that but there is enough there to have very fun and tactical games.

There are a few things to be aware of, though. First, there is only campaign and multiplayer at this point. The devs have mentioned an interest in adding a versus AI mode but it isn't there yet. The multiplayer could also be improved. As of now, unless you are playing with a friend, you will likely be playing games 1 turn per day at a time, similar to the old PBeM games. This is great to have as a feature, but as of now it is the only option. There is no chat or lobby to see if anyone is active. There IS local hotseat multiplayer though, up to 4 players, so that's nice.

All in all, I do recommend especially if you are a fan of the genre. The devs are very friendly and seem sincere in wanting to improve the game if they have the resources to do it. As it stands the campaign is very engaging and I look forward to playing multiplayer with friends. 9/10

This game is pretty cool! It feels a lot like the Advance Wars games for GBA but with faster-paced combat and a compelling mana economy. Has a good campaign mode so it might be worth checking out even if you're not into multiplayer. I recommend it if you're looking for a game to make you think!
