"Магия войны: Знамёна тьмы" — это продолжение знаменитой стратегии с элементами RPG. Вас ждет новое путешествие в уже полюбившийся мир игры “Магия Войны”.
Игра поделена на четыре кампании, повествующие о великих событиях и войнах, кипевших в Дэнморе до того, как над ним нависла тень повелителя. Игроку предстоит узнать тайны ордена Хранителей, столкнуться с коварными замыслами эльфов, повести в бой жаждущих мести орков и вступить в противоборство с порождениями Хаоса. Crash every second save loading
Battle Mages: Sign of Darkness shows promise with its blend of strategy and RPG elements, but it falls short in several areas, even for the price. The controls feel clunky, and the overall gameplay mechanics lack the polish expected, which makes it hard to fully enjoy. While the concept of commanding your own army is appealing, the execution is underwhelming. I appreciate the affordable price, but the game could have benefited from more refinement to fully realize its potential.

This game is a prequel to the original and once again immerses us in the world of Denmor. A thousand years have passed since the Cataclysm forced humans, elves, dwarves, and orcs to coexist, yet the conflicts between these races remain unresolved. Humans and elves continue to argue over their superiority; secretive dwarves plot unknown but dangerous schemes in their undergrounds; and orcs dream of eradicating everyone who is not like them. The fragile peace couldn’t last long: a single spark was enough to ignite a war, awakening the undead and causing monsters to invade.
The game features four campaigns, each revealing events from the perspective of one of the races. The orcs' fight for freedom is particularly memorable, giving them a unique motivation and purity of intentions.
The main character commands the army from a tower, with his presence on the battlefield replaced by a spirit hovering above the troops. There is no construction; the player moves between cities and camps, completing tasks and recruiting soldiers.
The army is formed in cities for money, but numerical superiority over enemies is impossible due to the slow growth of command skills. The game's tactical depth is limited: enemies attack head-on and fall for simple tricks. The hero uses magic to support troops, which can drastically change the course of battles.
Quests have become more varied: besides the main storyline, there are interesting side missions. For example, noisy orcs disturb tavern patrons, and the problem can only be solved by paying, not fighting. The lack of a dialogue system can be disappointing, as decisions are made automatically.
High difficulty remains a hallmark of the series. Pointless loss of troops can lead to a level restart, so random encounters should be avoided. Victories sometimes yield valuable items, but more often, common loot.
Leveling up troops has become longer, complicating the process of turning them into professional warriors. The mage’s development runs parallel: over 50 spells divided into four schools will aid in battle. Non-magical abilities are also available, such as buying items cheaper or improving archers' accuracy.
The inventory system is simple and intuitive: each squad has slots for weapons, armor, a flag, and a ring. Artifacts boost troop characteristics, and while shop prices can be surprising, this aspect works.
Although there are no major changes in mechanics, "Sign of Darkness" feels more engaging than the original game.
