great!
easyest looping software around...period.
the new version is obviously advised but this thing does great already.
i would export to other software to finalize (master) the mix, but for an effiecient scratch pad, it's hard to beat in productivity.
Great for making quick loop tracks. Does the job when you don't need the software to do any heavy lifting.
Excellent audio production package which is good value for the range of features and overall polish. Very stable.
I have used this program to edit a variety of different things, ranging from podcasts to internet shitposts. However, when I originally bought this program, I had the intention of using it to help record music - ironically recording music is by far the weakest part of this program. As a music program that is marketed as a complete package, it is repulsive to have it NOT have input monitoring.
The loops aren't bad (once you go through the heckhole of finding them), and since it was advertised towards remixing, I guess it's on me to have seen this one coming.
( TLDR , THIS IS FOR REMIXING MUSIC ^ )
With the negatives out of the way,
The program features quite a lot of effects and control over mixing audio, and the ease of use is something I genuinely enjoy. Overall, I think it's worth it since I bought it off of a good bundle sale alongside vegas, soundforge (which has input monitoring) and this.
Don't buy it full price, but if it's on sale, I'd recommend you try it out
I bought this a million years ago, and forgot I had it.
I can see why now.
It is worthless, useless, and barely functions.
LMMS is a free DAW and has more features than this, is easier to use, and ALLOWS FOR VST and VSTi USAGE.
omg I regret ever buying this. I regret trying to use it. I regret everything about this experience.
Acid Studio 2020 is on Humble bundle (As of this post) for $1.50 and I can see why. Might give that a try, but hopefully they learned how to make a functional DAW by then.
Unable to launch after first time install. Missing executable. After uninstalling/reinstalling, clearing caches, disabling firewalls and antivirus, manually deleting local files, and hours of potential problem solving methods wasted, this app is one big headache you're better off staying away from. Frustrating.
There has been one thing that has been tried and true for me the simplicity and easy to find knowledge base is amazing and that mixed with Soung Forge make for broad spectrum of sample manipulation. Spanning a good part of almost 25 years this combo has always worked for me and my collection of misfits of loops. A lot has been lost ,acid planet ect which Sony no doubt had a hay day destroying.
It's got its fair share of bugs and problems, but I have yet to find a more intuitive and easy to get into program for songwriting. A fantastic tutorial system is incredibly helpful for beginners, but for people that know what they're doing you may be able to find something better. I was a beginner coming into this and I've learned an incredible amount just from the tutorials alone. Recommended, but not perfect.
Garbage. Every sample I import is distorted. They all play fine in Audacity or even my other media players like WMP/Winamp/VLC/MPC.
Unfortunate because I have an older copy of ACID that I bought from Sony and was looking forward to using a new version since I picked up guitar again.
No support. Wasted money.
I've been a user of Acid Music products for 20 years - I bought Acid Music 2 from a Best Buy store back in 1997-98-ish and have used all versions up to 6 - then skipped to 10. The interface is the same, a plus for me as I relearned what all this DAW could do. It uses almost all the old 32-bit plugins that I had from previous iterations but doesn't seem to recognize most of the newer 64-bit plugins I add. It also has a glitchy MIDI issue - every time I render (bounce) a track, I have to close and restart the software because the program loses communication with my MIDI interface and I can't manually reinitialize it. It also still has issues with on-screen activity causing pops and clicks during playback, but fortunately, those have never shown up on a rendered sound file. I really wish the company who took these products over from Sony would invest in some solid updating, a streamlined interface that looks less like it was designed in the 90s (kind of harsh on the eyes), and fix the annoying technical glitches. Without exception, sound files I render from this DAW lack crispness and volume compared to tracks that are laid out and rendered in a more modern DAW... but this tool is super easy to use partly because there is a limit to the features. This is a great product for new learners because the built-in tutorials are very straightforward. I have argued for years that this "little engine that could" would stand up to any other DAW in terms of production capability, but at this point in time, it's got some issues that I simply don't have to deal with when I use Studio One or Ableton. I'll keep it and use it for letting my kids get into digital music and recording, but I expect anyone who wants to produce music on a regular basis for a living will want to spend more and get a "real" DAW. Sad face.
Look, I really wanted to like this. I've used ACID 6 a lot and had 7 for a long while too, but this just isn't fully fleshed out in any way. The UI is outdated, confusing and clunky, it's full of bugs, the functionality is lacking compared to other DAWs, a lot of connection issues.
I understand some people might be attracted by the price-point like I was at the time, but trust me you're better saving up or buying something else like Reaper if money's tight. It isn't a software you work with, it's a software you work around.
Bye Sony, Hello MAGIX! Applications are working as expected and how I know them... and even more stable than ever before. Just had the best support experience ever on Steam... I hope MAGIX can keep this up, as this shows great commitment. Way better than Sony ever did...
I have always enjoyed using the Sonic Foundry apps, like SoundForge and Acid. I really had high hopes when Sony started with the Media Software divison, but this turned out to be disappointing and slow to develop. Some nice effects were added, but it just took long and each version was a minor update. Now Magix took over, and they do put effort into I see.
Acid is a loop-based sequencer. This means there is are tracks on which you can paint the samples in a way they are loop to make the beats. It wasn't the first, but surely one of the best tools for this. Although the UI hasn't changed much, I actually think this is one of it's strengths. The tool is easy to understand and has a simplistic layout.
Although I have access to Cakewalk Sonar, Music Maker and Samplitude, this is still a tool I grab back to from time to time. The addition of some of the VST plugins is mcuh appreciated. I just hope they also offered the Pro version on Steam instead of the Music Studio version.
Visual C++ Runtime Error
******* Read my next comment, for how I solved the problem *******
I have installed it on my Windows 10 Pro 64bit machine, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, ASUS GeForce GTX670 GPU, UR44 Sound.
When I double click Music Studio icon, every time it stops at "initializing DirectX plug in" and gives pop up error message saying:
-------------
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program:...MusicStudio100\ACID Music Studio 10.0\musicstudio100.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I cannot even start the ACID!!
Acid was one of the first Daws that I have used and still ranks as one of the best. I still use Acid if just to encode information into the track for Red Book copys. It has allways been a very heavy packed and has the punch to go with it no matter what you throw into the mix.
If you want to learn music and music production then this has got to be one of the best kits around.
With the right (free) VST effect plugins, this software is in my opinion one of the best out there for creating computer-based mixtapes/sets, rivalling Ableton Live in my opinion for it's timestretching 'mechanism' - the Beatmapper. It also uses the same timestretching algorithm as Ableton - zplane Elastiqué Pro v2 (see http://www.zplane.de/index.php?page=description-elastique.) Yes, the interface seems barely touched since it was written by Sonic Foundry in 1998 - but ultimately its about the sound... Don't get me wrong - the interface is completely useable, just old. If you can *hear* past this, and make use of it's (32-bit) VST plugin functionality, you have a ridiculously affordable piece of music software to make mixsets and beyond...
ACID Music Studio 10 is definitely not Acid Pro 7. There's no groove. However, if you play an instrument or sing, you've got this amazing quick retake system with keyboard shortcuts that'll make you happy. Sony's comparison page.
Sure the UI is out of date, and you need a real computer as it was never written for big button touch screen, but it is ACID. ACID pro is infinitely better, but this one will run on Windows later than Windows 7 and it will run on Windows 7 with all updates.
SO many bugs! I once used an older version of this software while in college, and I remembered it being so much better than this! I've had nothing but problems with this software!
-My MIDI tracks randomly change instruments.
-I get skips in my renders, regardless of file type.
-The software detects my keyboard (M-Audio Mini Keystation 32), but doesn't receive input from it, or will receive input for a while then suddenly stop.
-I get an error when trying to open the software by double-clicking an existing .acd file from Windows
I've tried verifying all the files through STEAM, even uninstalling/reinstalling, all the above continues to happen. To make matters worse, I've had trouble finding any kind of online help as well. This software is NOT worth the money! Should've just saved up for Sonar X3.
Acid has always been my go-to app for music creation. It's easy to manipulate and mix sound files of any type, and they blend seamlessly into your project. I've used it to create original music, remixes, radio show-style vignettes with dialogue and sound effects, and I even use it to produce my full-length podcast! Originally I doled out MUCH more money for Acid Pro 7 and it was worth every penny. Version 10 at this price is an absolute no-brainer. I wouldn't consider anything else.
The 3,000 loops are apparently available once you have registered the software. When you try to access them, you are told this and the message states that you need to go to the Help menu to register. Unfortunately, there isn't an option to Register under the Help menu - or anywhere in the application that I could find.
I've requested a refund...
It sucked. It was difficult to upload different media files, and the interface is ancient. It isn't even cheap.
