Developed by Ubisoft Romania, Silent Hunter: Wolves of the Pacific U-Boat Missions is an add-on that extends the gameplay experience by focusing on the historically accurate but largely unknown German U-boat campaign in the Indian Ocean during World War II.
- German Campaign in the Indian Ocean: The new campaign spans from July 1943 until the end of the war for Germany in May 1945. Operate from such far-off Japanese naval bases as Penang, Singapore, Jakarta and Surabaya.
- Strategic Warfare: Rise in rank and experience, gaining access to new strategic resources, such as recon aircrafts that track down enemy shipping, and battle groups that can help wipe out superior enemy forces.
- New Playable Submarines: Take to the seas in new German submarines, including the long-range Type IX-D2 U-boat and the revolutionary Walther propulsion type XVIII U-boat. Learn the strengths and weaknesses of these boats and how you can overcome even elite, late-war allied destroyers with high-speed hit-and-run attacks.
- Heroes: Based on actual historical figures, these new crew members add a number of special abilities that can change the fate of battles and save the ship when the time is right, as well as adding historical color to the game.
- Better Accessibility: New and improved features such as intelligence information, navigation maps and upgrade systems ensure that U-Boat Missions will give players the expansion they've been waiting for.
Please note that the online features for this game are no longer supported. The Multiplayer mode / Co-op mode will no longer be accessible.

I can launch a germany submarine from surabaya
Still one of the best submarine games out there after all these years from introduction. Graphics and Gameplay are still semi competitive modern. The range of MODS and so forth for it are very numerous and expand the gameplay by considerable margins. I still give SH4 5-Stars.

I am only just embarking on my first proper mission so I cannot comment on how that will go, but from my protracted time in the submarine school I think SH4 is really enjoyable and I would recommend it. The graphics are not up to today's ultra-high realism standard but the game is still highly immersive. On my first exercise I stupidly surfaced more or less right next to an enemy destroyer and it was a genuinely scary experience! The walk-around interior is by default limited to the control room and conning tower, however you can easily conduct a mission using the charts, sonar, radar, periscopes and the torpedo data computer in first-person mode. I personally think is a big plus point and if you turn off 'automatic targeting' then your campaigns will be about as hard as they probably were in real life. Sinking a ship with just the deck gun is particularly satisfying and the sinking animation itself is very impressive. You can even dip the camera under the water to see the vessel heading for the sea bed, complete with collapsing bulkhead and exploding boiler noises. Dipping the camera underwater when you are in shallow water is also a sobering experience as you see rocks looming out of the murk just a few feet from the hull. I do recommend a couple of basic mods, one to provide a larger protractor on the chart display and one to make the telegraph and compass dials larger and easier to read. There are plenty of other free mods covering things like changing the map colours to adjusting the field of view of the periscopes. There are also 'mega-mods' like FOTRSU and TMO which upgrade lots of items and increase both the graphics and operational realism level for each mission. On a side note, I also think the music is great... I mean really good. The musical theme changes dynamically to suit the action and it never seems to get tiresome although you can of course turn it off. The only downsides for me are that you never run out of fuel, unless there is a mod that I'm unaware of that can cure that problem. Plus, sadly, you can't shoot the seagulls, but hey-ho.
Those aren't shell holes in my pressure hull. They're for ventilation. It gets hot in the Pacific in July.
