Through the Darkest of Times — это игра в жанре исторической стратегии, посвященная движению сопротивления в самый мрачный период истории и подлинной жизни обычных людей Третьего рейха.

Поддерживаемые языки: english, german, french, spanish - spain, japanese, russian, simplified chinese

Interesting narrative. Soundtrack and art are most wonderful. the game is very atmospheric. Binged it in one day, took me 5 hours.
I played this before on mobile, but let me just say, this game is absolutely fantastic in its storytelling and presentation. The art style and graphics are something I admire, the gameplay aspects, though it can be repetitive, is not the main focus and message of the game. Through the Darkness of Times is a magnificent experience from start to end about the democratic backsliding of a country and its people, becoming fascist and authoritarian and the struggle of ordinary folks living throughout the oppressive regime. This game is a must have, a must read for history enthusiasts, specifically for the context behind the Second World War, and also politically relevant in the 2020s. Brilliant game.
The storytelling of Through The Darkest of Times is it's strongest asset. It makes the war feel fresh and real and dangerous in a way history books and TV shows never have for me, and it wraps this in an engaging resource management framework. Perhaps most importantly, in a game where we can't change the outcome of the story or the major events that unfold, it asks us "what is the reason for playing if we can't ever 'win'?"; and it gives us an answer in the stories of those who fought for what they believed in during the war.
Although the strategic gameplay lacks enough depth to stay fresh for the duration of it's narrative, TTDoT still offers an engaging and emotional experience for those who play it.
A good history lesson but a lousy game. Too many repetitive, boring tasks and shallow companions, and your choices don't really matter. Should have just been a visual novel.
Amazing 6 hour or so game that really puts the rise of the Nazi party into perspective. Playing as a civilian resistance you try to build your network, fund yourself, and deal with deep emotional needs of your team. From 1931 to 1946 you deal with various historical events explaining what's happening in Berlin and try to make your way through the difficult process of your friends and neighbors joining the Nazis. Great reminder of history and how we can't forget what our ancestors fought against and fought for.
It's talking about a very stressful wartime, sad to see all these characters get arrested again and again
Buy it for a friend!
Now!
Yesterday even...
A very interesting game - although in terms of actual gameplay it is a bit lacking, it more than makes up for with storytelling and the general compelling nature of the subject matter.
Good game. Can teach someone a lot about themselves and working in group dynamics.
Very short but great game

Not sure whether to recommend the game. The concept is great, and I like the design—an excellent attempt to weave history into its narrative. The differing profiles of the characters add a touch of that "puzzly" vibe to the game.
However, don't be misled: the gameplay can be extremely challenging. Tasks marked as "extremely difficult" are tough to succeed at, but they're also the main source for increasing morale. And there we are... morale drops quickly, and it’s incredibly hard to recover, creating a frustrating "circle of doom." (once you run out of morale, you lose the game)
While I truly enjoy the game’s atmosphere and ideas, the unforgiving mechanics make it hard to fully appreciate the experience without feeling overwhelmed or disappointed.
If you’re up for a tough challenge and appreciate historical storytelling, give it a try.
great atmosphere, engaging story line, unique art style!
This game is not only a great resistance simulator but a lesson in history to boot. You live the Nazi era as it evolves, with real historical events.
The game itself is immersive. You have to keep a balance between funds, members, moral and hazards. Choose your partners (5 at any time) and your actions. Some resistance acts need a series of actions beforehand, ie you need to blow up something but first need to acquire the explosive device, or need to distribute leaflets but first need to get paper clandestinely. You are also faced with certain situations from time to time, ie coming across 3 SA men beating a Jew, and you have to decide how to act and what to say. Actions change as history progresses.
Got it on sale and it was a great investment.
A superbly crafted game that serves as storyteller, teacher, and concerned friend.
The steady drip-drip-drip of Nazi horrors through newspaper headlines pierces me with cold reality again and again.
DISCLAIMER: This is a first impressions review, and NOT a full review
Through the Darkest of Times is a game developed by Paintbucket Games and published by HandyGames
The game offers some okay graphics, although some ugly glitches here and there, it is pleasant all the same
The game does suffer with some repetitiveness at certain areas of the game but a fun game nonetheless
Through the Darkest of Times overall, however, is a fun game to play, yet sometimes repetitive and it does get boring and tedious if being played for a long time, but is a very good strategy simulation game to play in short bursts!
RECOMMENDED :)

This game is a bit like "This War of Mine" and a bit like "Papers, Please", and has elements from "Daily Chthonicle" and "Gangsters: Organized crime" as well.
It's great! I wonder if it has high replay value, because all the events I've had until now seem like those that are scripted to belong in the story. It's still touching and has a lot of "choose your own adventure" to it.
I haven't even spent an hour on it yet but it's very catchy. Style and atmosphere are great and at the current price I can *definitely* recommend it.
thought hitler was cool until i found out he didnt drink or smoke
Cool concept for a game, but not really very repeatable.
Also Broken Achievements
The redommendation is not for the gameplay - it's quite shallow, boring and somewhat frustrating.
The story, however, is more important than ever, seeing how history seems to repeat itself...
yes im sophie scholl now
Not bad, but far from "This is the Police", "Papers, Please", "911 operator", "Rebel inc".
It is a good game, with enough twists and plot turns to keep it interesting. It has also everything to do with making hard choices. And it confronts you with moral issues. It is easy to say thay you will stand up against injustice living in a free and save country, but what will you do when you're live will depend on it. That is what makes this game so interesting, it is not only fun to play, but the awareness that there where people 100 years ago who really did these things makes it very real.
Wish it were less relevant and timely, but as it is, very educational.
It had an interesting premise, to relive the rise of Hitler and the second World War 2 from a resistance / civilian point of view.
Unfortunately he does not really do anything with this premise. Each time you get ready to start doing real resistance work your chapter is over with and the story progresses (Spoiler alert, you can't really do anything). I literally spent all chapters doing the same things: Get Money, Get Support, Buy Hideout, Go on Morale Event.
Never once did I actually do anything worth called a resistance. And the game thought I did 5 Star worthy gameplay. When I did nothing. I just told people "Hey let's stop these Nazis!" and that was it.
By the time I finally were able to do anything (I had a horrible spread of random characters, all only good at getting supporters) the game went "CHAPTER DONE! I WILL NOW REMOVE EVERYTHING YOU DID AND HAVE YOU RESTART FROM SCRATCH ON THE NEXT CHAPTER!".
I really wish it had more depths, but after finishing it and not doing any real resistance or having the government fight me. I can't really recommend it when you can get through it just getting supporters and increasing morale. Doing any explosions etc, was not worth it and did not really do anything either and was too difficult to get to when I had to spend time rising Supporters (Since it is a win condition) and increasing my Morale and keeping my guys incognito.
Gut-wrenching. That's the only term I can think of that can sum up the exprience of playing this game.
It certainly succeeds at portraying the horror and moral conflicts of the rise of fascism in Germany. Couldn't help but feel angry and compare it with the world situation today. Are people blind? Does screaming at their faces that they're wrong help? Are we doing enough to fight it all back? It's all too much to handle.
The way the story is written here is almost impeccable. Are there small plotholes here and there? Yes, but nothing that takes away from the whole experience. The connection between player and character is basically instantaneous - ordinary people trying to survive, well, the darkest of times. After completing it, I feel sad, but also energized. Let's keep the good fight going - and fuck the fascists.
I hate fascists.
10/10 Would stage a revolution again.
