- It is easy to cry when you realize that everyone will reject you and die....Harambe was born on May 27, 1999 at the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, Texas. He was named after the Rita Marley song "Harambe (Working Together For Freedom)".
Harambe was transferred to the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden on September 18, 2014; where he spent the remainder of his ever so short life.
Harambe was brutally murdered on May 28, 2016 (one day after his 17th birthday).
