- No information given.''They came upon us in the night
O'er the mountain steep
They came upon us in the night
When horse was nigh asleep
They killed the guards and watchmen
A force that took a toll
They came upon us in the night
To rip away our soul''
- Extract from the tales of Eeyorn, Rohirrim scout based on the
Isengard border. His poem book was found in the burnt outpost of
Eleyth on the River Isen.
The Dur-edain Ujak Bartomin was, throught the later years of the War of the Ring, a major to
the free-folk of both the Rohan and Eriador regions, with some records even indicating raids
as far North-West as Dale.
The Warband consisted of estimated up to 700 Warg Riders and mobile Uruk-Hai support groups,
but approximate numbers were never properly calculated due to the speed and ferocity of the
groups attacks and raids. What sets this Warpack aside is the heritige it poses compared to
other warbands and groups. The warpack, as a force, can be traced back to the Wars of Arnor
and Angmar, and it is believed they were used as a scout, raiding and persuit force against
the Numenorian Rangers.
After the Witch Kings defeat at the battle of Fornost, the Warpack disapears from the record
books, albeit it is believed they were responsible for several high profile attacks along
the Greenwood and Rohan borders, though nothing has ever been directly traced to them or
proved. However, following the betrayel of Saruman, attacks centered in the Westfold hold
tale tale signs of the Dur-edain Warpack, with particular attention being centered on the
ruthless brutality of the raids. The most noted raid took place along the river Isen, when
the Outpost of Eleyth and its surrounding villages were destroyed. This particular attack
holds the stage because of the death of a famed Rohirrim Scout, Eeyorn Longsight, who achieved
fame and glory when he single handedly dispatched a mountain troll with a single swing of his
sword.
A particularly disturbing fact about this raid is that no Uruk bodies were found at the battle
sights, and approximately 217 Rohirrim soldiers, the entire garrison, were found heavily
mauled around the outlying villages.
Since the start of the War of the Third Age, it has been confirmed that the Dur-edain Ujak
Bartomin Warpack has pledged their allegiance to the White Hand of Saruman. What this means
for the people of the westfold and beyond, only time will tell. But if the Pack stays true
to it's past endevours, the war in the West may already be lost.
