Can you go shove this version of the game, along with the R* Launcher and BattlEye UP YOUR ARSE T2
The online on this version is a buggy mess. Loading screens lasting forever. Missions and heists constantily bugging out and people losing connection. Works fine on PS5 but this version is awful.
i want to play this game but shitty anticheat dosent let me because i am on fucking linux
Take-Two Interactive EULA Changes
Take-Two and has updated all their games Terms of Service, this was noticed mostly around the Borderlands franchise, yet it also extends beyond the Borderlands franchise.
New rules:
Important Info in Terms of Service (the list is copied from a review written on the Borderlands 3 page):
• Mods are a bannable offense
• Display of Cheats/Exploits is bannable
• Forced arbitration clause and a waiver of class action and jury trial rights for all users residing in the United States and any other territory other than Australia, Switzerland, The United Kingdom, or The Territories of The European Economic Area
• You can be banned for using a VPN while connecting to online servers
• Cannot access game content on a Virtual PC
• Best for last, they reserve the right to modify this Agreement, in whole or in part, at any time
It states that they basically collect all your data - name, address, numbers, IPs, credit cards, game activity, voice chat, and pretty much everything else but also if for whatever reason they believe you have done something faulty in-game, they brick your access entirely to all of their games. This applies to past infractions as well. Not just for online games but single player too.
Due to T2's ownership of Rockstar Games, players are left to wonder whether the whole EULA change is gonna have a hard impact on GTA 6 privacy policies or not. Yet as of now, it is seen that the absurd changes made in the EULA, turn any T2's product into, pretty much a spyware, due to the high amount of the data that we accept to hand them.
Had to change my review due to recent EULA changes that are basically spyware. Just get a "different copy" of it until they change it.
full of bugs. the enhanced version takes less initial time to load up but every single transition takes 40 years and crashes half the time. game crashes so much and takes so long to load i end up just playing this game when i want to go on tiktok bc that's what ill end up spending 80% of my time on anyways.
People saying this looks the same as the legacy version are out of their minds. The enhanced edition runs smoother, looks sharper, and just feels better. For a game that's over a decade old, it still holds up insanely well. I'm genuinely glad I bought it again
This is just a different branch of the original Grand Theft Auto V game. I only played the story mode at the time of writing this review because I wanted to complete the story one more time before GTA VI and this game launched just in time. The graphics are slightly better, but most of the time it's almost unnoticeable. I tried the RT, but in my humble opinion it only reduces the performance with very little improvements. I've been playing GTA Online for a very long time, but here I've only migrated my account and that was it.. maybe I will get back into online mode one day.
Some of the things that I encountered during my story playthrough and it broke the immersion: random vehicles exploding all the time in the background, the sound seems (it is actually) cheaper compared to the original game.. I'm using very good headphones, but the sound quality is always bad in this game for some reasons; the vehicles engines are very loud compared to the radio stations and you barely hear anything when you're listening to radio news. I remember listening some great tracks while driving cars, but nowadays you need to put some struggle in order to hear those without lowering the general sound (i don't do this because voicelines and the environment sounds are lowered as well). Also, you need to limit the game to 60 FPS in some missions, otherwise the game will break. For example: you can't progress the Simeon mission with Franklin where you steal the car from Michael's house because the car of the customer talking with Simeon will move once you start the mission and the game will blame you for interrupting the deal, resulting in an instantly mission fail; you can't do the golden medal in Dom's S&F mission where you need to roll 8 times with an ATV while falling from a plane because the ATV won't perform that roll unless you are limiting the FPS to 60. Also, a bug that was present in the original game and it's still here.. having issues starting the Monkey Business mission whenever you reach the area.. the icon simply disappears from the map and you can't start it unless you move / reenter the area a few times. Should I also add the fact that you can NEVER train Chop because the iFruit application is no longer available on Android / iOS?
I'm seriously tempted to give this game a negative review but I won't do that because the game was given for free to the players already owning the legacy game. You are not forced to play it, you can always switch back to the legacy version if you don't like this version. Also, we gotta appreciate the fact that all the achievements were transferred from legacy to enchanced, especially the Online achievements. I would have gone nuts if I had to redo the Doomsday Heist Criminal Masterminds achievements again. 😌
Some of the most buggy and unplayable garbage I have ever played. They pretty much ruined the game with this """"enhanced"""" version. Don't bother buying it, do something better with your time.
Some of these fun enhancements include, but aren't limited to:
-Assets barely loading or not loading at all
-Random frame drops
-Up to 200ms of input lag that is nearly impossible to avoid
-Even LONGER loading times for literally anything
-The online tab on the main menu being completely useless as none of the options work and just send you back to the menu
-Likely just a me problem but the game tends to randomly, but not often crash for no reason.
and these are just what I can think of off the top of my head. Rockstar, I love you man, you make great games, but for the love of god PLEASE playtest your pc ports and make sure that they actually work properly.
This is the GOAT of games!
It has everything that you can imagine and what you cant imagine you will see it in this game.
Graphics, dialogs, storytelling, replayability, driving, shooting, music, all, all, all, great!
Play it!
Grand Theft Auto V, owned by Rockstar Games, who is owned by Take-two have updated their terms of service on games, even their older games. THIS LETS THEM COLLECT USERNAMES AND PASSWORDS, IP LOCATIONS AND BROWSER HISTORY DATA.
TL;DR: GTAV is spyware and stealing your data, WHICH can include EMAILS, PHONE NUMBERS AND PASSWORDS. And then TAKE TWO can share/sell it because by playing this game, you allowed them to have it.
Important Info in ToS:
• Forced arbitration so long as it is permitted in your region
• You can be banned for the using a VPN while connecting to online servers
• Cannot access game content on a Virtual PC
• When TAKE TWO sells/transfers a business/asset, any data the business/asset has, goes with it.
• Best for last, they reserve the right to modify this Agreement, in whole or in part, at any time

story mode is so good and id say this game is worth picking up on a sale just for that, the gta 5 single player is truly iconic with lots of memorable characters and moments. a true sandbox
gta online is a different story. if you like mindless grinding, online is for you. ive played through gtao 3 different times and it just isnt worth getting into in 2025 unless you have friends willing to grind it out with you or youre just a masochist
story mode is more like a sandbox, online is more mmoish with a focus on grind
Trying to put a bandaid on a 12 year old game. Buggy as hell, every quest is a fetch quest in disguise that has no checkpoint so when the game bugs and makes you restart you have to redo EVERYTHING.
0/10: forced obsolescence. I didn't see any upgrade to the gameplay here. In fact: I hate the new minimap and I spawned in glitched, so it's objectively worse from my experience. Most other games simply offer a "high resolution" texture pack, but Rockstar is too incompetent. I suspect this merely combines the ability to stalk their players more with new DRM + ToS along with the ability to charge a higher price ("Legacy" was sometimes under $10).
These developers and this publisher are hacks. I was once told to "reset my machine [with instructions on where the power button is lmao]" when I reported a game-breaking bug. 13 years to develop the next game while they drip fed us 0/5 - 2/5 expensive, boring DLC. The only good thing they produced in a decade was Cayo Perico, but it was nerfed years later because of how greedy Rockstar is. Many players will eventually lose their older online characters (like we did on Xbox 360 and PS3) because one of the most profitable entities on earth 'doesn't feel like it' anymore.
I will only ever recommend this game if the developers make it so the player (specifically me) can get Trevor Phillips pregnant. I want nothing more than to see him with a big baby bump and a glorious motherly glow. Make it happen.
The graphics look better compared to the legacy version. The enhanced version runs very smoothly with no lag. It feels great after replaying the game.
Less storage and better graphics so I suppose it's good
Nothing changed with Enhanced except for less lag when using the menu, graphics settings being easier to use and the removal of text chat. Load times are abysmal, when you do get out of a loading screen half of the time you're sent back to the menu, a friend and I couldn't even load into the same lobby at one point without a permanent loading screen. It's pretty funny how they could make the game worse, and less optimized with the upgrade that was supposed to put us closer to the console edition, not to mention the cheaters bypassing Battle-eye with ease. If there's no patches at any point then the PC version of this game truly is cooked.
DLSS & FSR Support.
Thanks for the help for the poor that can't afford to play native 4K and want to play on 4K.
Rockstar always caring for the poor!
The amount of shovelware that this game brings including the Rockstar launcher, Battleye spyware... plus it's a pain to launch from the Steam Deck. Steer clear of this.
Still some bugs from the previous version of the game (Legacy). A bit of rehashing before the release of VI, however, the game itself is a true classic.
I don't understand the dislike for this. It's a far better optimized version of the more than 10 year old game that is gta 5. Enhanced brings it into modern day when it comes to the technical side of things. Runs a lot smoother, massively reduced loading times etc etc. Genuinely a much better experience of gta 5
Despite Rockstar games having cloud saves, Rockstar couldn't find a way to import your save from legacy edition to enhanced edition without first manually uploading a save from Legacy edition, then manually downloading that save in enhanced edition. Meaning you have to download the 100+ GB legacy edition to upload a tiny save file, before downloading the almost 100GB enhanced edition and importing the save.
The Rockstar client already has access to these files. There is no reason for why a player should be forced to do this to load an old save.
Bought it on sale for cheap since I'd never finished the original campaign.
Absolutely no interest in online play whatsoever.
...
I have never uninstalled a game faster in my life.
>kernel level rootkit required to play.
>No ability to custom remap controller buttons natively, only change between a few poor setting choices.
What idiot decided to use B as reload and X as dodge in the year of our lord?
>No Press to Sprint. In single player. Despite there being an option for exactly that in multiplayer according to every video on youtube about exactly that.
Who looks at a game where you do a lot of running on foot and thinks to themselves, "You know what would be fun for players? HAVING TO HOLD OR REPEATEDLY TAP THE SPRINT BUTTON TO KEEP RUNNING INSTEAD OF JUST PUSHING IT ONCE!"
Not worth it even at the discounted price. Would literally rather play Saints Row 3/4 again.
I hope this idiocy isn't in GTA:6's PC release.
To anyone saying this looks the same as Legacy, they are wrong. The main setting that you NEED on the absolute highest is the "lighting Quality". Turn that all the way up and get blown away by the insane shadows.
Performance on the SteamDeck is a dream as well, just wish they would have added these updates to the game instead of seperating to a whole new version of the game
As a returning GTA player:
I mean, it's GTA
We all know this game by now. But for a game this old in 2025, I’m still super impressed! It’s not just the enhanced graphics update, the overall game development is honestly really unique.
I’ve never completed the story mode before, as I was always an online player with friends. But now that I’m older, I’ve fallen in love again with single-player games. So I’m finally working on completing the single-player side of GTA V with my wife, who also never got far into it. We’re really happy we’re doing it now, because we understand so much more of the things the characters say and what they’re hinting at. The dark humor, controversial themes, and “woke” interactions hit differently now. I love the subtle whistleblower moments and the relatable real-life situations involving the government and society.
I’ve been on and off this game since its release, and a couple of years ago I spent time in FiveM RP servers, which was an absolute blast! Now I’m back, playing both single-player and online. I love that there are so many new cars to grind for, along with new missions. They've added so many vehicles based on real-life models, and I didn’t expect them to look this good. Now that I have a beast of a PC, I can’t believe my eyes playing maxed out with ray tracing, this game is beautiful. I never expected it to look this good, and I’m grateful it does.
Now, I’m well aware that Rockstar is a money-hungry company, and I don’t agree with many of their decisions. But still, there’s no game like GTA V. You can tell an incredible amount of talent, time, and effort went into creating it.
That said, there are things that could be better:
The online grind: People are right to criticize how repetitive it can be. There are only a few ways to make serious money, so you end up running the same missions over and over. Plus, Rockstar doesn’t let you skip cutscenes even if you’ve done the mission before, which is clearly a tactic to drag out playtime.
Car modding issues: In Los Santos Customs, if you press enter or a on controller, the purchase goes through instantly. I recently lost 300K that way. I bought one upgrade for 200K, then another for around 50–100K, only to realize the first upgrade got removed, meaning you can't have both at the same time. There was no warning beforehand. That’s frustrating and should be fixed.
Performance issues: Even with everything maxed out at 2K resolution on a 5070 Ti, I’m getting only around 45 FPS in the city. What’s worse is that my GPU and CPU aren’t even being used above 50%. That’s not an issue with my setup, other games run perfectly. GTA V still isn’t fully optimized.
Garage and vehicle UI: When calling your mechanic, you should be able to see each car’s specs and maybe a thumbnail image. I can’t remember what each car is or what it can do, just based on the name.
Nitro tuning: Please bring back nitrous! We had it in San Andreas, and it would look incredible in GTA V especially with high-end graphics, ray tracing, and neon night lights. Whether you’re racing or just cruising, it would be awesome.
Now that GTA VI is delayed, it feels like the perfect opportunity for Rockstar to polish GTA V one last time. I don’t think I’ll stop playing this game until GTA VI releases and honestly, I’m pretty happy with that for now. Gotta enjoy the good old game before it gets abbandoned when GTA VI is released.
Runs smoother, smaller overall file size, and they added a bunch of stuff into it. Good deal.
Why should I have to install 2 softwares, 1 launcher and be online to play a single player game?
I don't know about you, but I love the cashgrab called Rockstar Games, so I'll try to keep this unbiased as much as I can.
The game runs better and is greatly optimized. There are now wild animals in GTA Online's freemode after 10+ years. The loading times are faster in single-player, but on Online, they're only slightly faster. They removed the text chat in GTA Online removing the ability for players to chat with one another, discuss and conversate in missions and heists. They added ray-tracing which looks great, but is just a graphical upgrade you barely notice. They added DLSS, which is great, since I use it often in other games. GTA+ is just some membership that gives you small benefits, such as $500,000 in-game money every month, that you can get in under an hour for free. They upped the price a year ago, but the good part of GTA+ is that you get access to previous GTA games such as Bully, L.A. Noire, Red Dead Redemption & Undead Nightmare and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition. You get access to these games as long as you are a GTA+ member and you get a 20% discount if you wish to purchase them.
TLDR;
Small update to GTA V, not worthy of a new enhanced game, but more of an update to GTA V Legacy. There are more good things than bad, so I'd say sure this is a small upgrade. Good job, Rockstar Games.
No online support for Linux despite BattlEye being available on other Linux games. Will have to think twice before considering a purchase of GTA 6.
before i played this game i was lazy, suicidal, sad, and didnt do much aside sleeping. Nothing has changed but game is good.
I don't recommend using this version, it is very unstable, even on low settings the game is just consistently dropping FPS, Legacy is far more better than this lazy updated version of GTA V.

⚠️ BEWARE: BattlEye Anti-Cheat in GTA Enhanced Comes with Major Privacy Trade-Offs ⚠️

Before diving into GTA Enhanced, be aware that it requires the installation of BattlEye, an invasive anti-cheat system with deep access to your computer. BattlEye collects a wide range of personal data including your IP address, hardware serial numbers, OS-level file names, and even scans your running processes, drivers, and system memory. If any data is flagged (even wrongly), it can be stored indefinitely and shared with the publisher or affiliates. Opting out of this data collection means you can’t access the game at all.
Though BattlEye claims it doesn’t sell your information, it retains the theoretical ability to transmit executable code from your system to their servers, and it uses automated decision-making that could lead to bans without clear human oversight. You also can’t directly exercise your EU data rights with them — they push that burden onto the game publisher.
---> !! LINUX AND STEAM CONSOLE USERS CAN NOT PLAY GTA ONLINE NOW !! <---
Additionally, you must be online for story mode!
I mean, trying to write a review for Grand Theft Auto V at this point would be like stating the obvious, but I’ll try, nonetheless. 5 years after GTA IV, GTA V made its debut with more arcade-y gameplay rather than a realistic approach, along with sun-soaked Los Santos and beautiful green hills, and the threatening deserts of Blaine County. Not only is it still visually stunning, but combining the perfectly crafted shooting mechanics of Max Payne 3, GTA V offers the best shooting mechanics in any GTA game to date. Due to its arcade-y nature, driving also feels smoother, just like the ones in the 3D era. I don’t like it when games rely on realism way too much, like GTA IV did; therefore, I prefer a game to feel like a game, y’know? However, despite offering a smoother experience, GTA V’s storyline leaves a lot to be desired.
Instead of focusing on one character, Rockstar decided to focus on three instead. You already know who or how they are. Michael is an unhappily married, mid-life crisis dad, Franklin is a street hustler, and Trevor is… Trevor. They also have their dedicated supernatural powers. These three somehow cross paths with each other and come together for a series of heists, which the game is mainly focused on. You also get to know their individual stories slightly in the beginning, along with their exclusive encounters with Strangers & Freaks, which give you a better idea about their personal lives. The story is mainly about the conflicts between Michael and Trevor, but that’s not the problem. My problem was the fact that there was hardly any shooting in story missions overall, and it needed a bit more time to unfold the events a bit better. GTA Online managed to satisfy me in terms of shooting, but the story left me a bit disappointed, nonetheless.
Leaving the single player aside, now’s the time for the main dish: GTA Online. I actually hate multiplayer games, mostly because I don’t like the idea of being dependent on people while I’m relaxing by myself, but GTA Online manages to balance it perfectly. I’m not sure when, but when I heard Rockstar finally added an option to enjoy GTA Online by yourself through an invite-only lobby, along with many solo heists, I immediately thought of getting into it again. I played the hell out of Online, even getting all achievements in the process by meeting some amazing people whom I’m still glad to this day, and I still play it today. Having played SA-MP for countless hours when I was in high school, GTA Online was practically a dream come true for me. Being able to grow your criminal empire easily with the solo heists, passive nightclub income, and Oppressor MK-II to carry you around everywhere, GTA Online is a definitive way to experience the “American Dream” that you can never achieve in real life. Beware, if you’re a completionist, good luck with the “Masterminds” achievement because it’s currently ranked as the #2 hardest achievement to get amongst all games.
So, what exactly does this “Enhanced” version bring other than improved graphics, Ray Tracing, and DLSS? Lots of neat stuff for the Online! It brings exclusive upgrades to tune some of the cars, and enables wildlife in GTA Online, along with new ways of making money every day. They also added GTA+ membership with this version, but I find it extremely unnecessary at the price they’re asking. Unless you don’t want to deal with months of grinding, it could be worth it. It also offers a few games by Rockstar through the Rockstar Games Launcher, but it could differ if the membership is purchased through Steam.
TL;DR
The infamous Grand Theft Auto V that’s been around since 2013. Do I need to say more? GTA Online is still fun to this day, and it’s better than ever with the Enhanced upgrade. Graphical enhancements, Ray Tracing, and DLSS aside, GTA V Enhanced brings GTA+ membership along with enabling wildlife in Online, Special Hao Upgrades, and new ways to make money daily and weekly.
Originally I came back just to shit on the new EULA 2k put foward that made this effectively spyware.
But I now find out that Rockstar is so bad at securing our accounts that my Rockstar account has been comprimised by a chinese and a russian 3 years ago: And the only notice i get? oh a small little email in pure Chinese telling me that I can recover my account. Downside? its outside the recovery time due to me seeing pure chinese and thinking "Ah its a scam." When in fact its Rockstar being the abselute worst at securing your stuff.
take 2 interactive the publisher of this game has put in spyware at the kernel level , they spy on your contact list , physical address , IP address , internet history and every other piece of data on your PC . dont give them your money and guess what , THE GAME IS STILL FULL OF CHEATERS , so the only reason they need kernel level accesss is to spy on you
It's still GTA but with graphical improvements, a few extra things to do in the game mostly cosmetic and the best thing of all there's no more hackers ruining your experience, you can finally play GTA Online public sessions without having someone summon a tornado on you and making you immortal so you end up stuck in the falling position around the map permanently as they use a cheat to steal all the money you just got from that heist you just did or that shark card you just bought, being forced to alt+f4, GTA Legacy Online is one of the worst experiences thanks to sad no life basement dwelling modders and hackers
Great game, like the legacy version with a little better graphics. One thing tho, loading times. Sometimes its very quick and sometimes I have to restart the game because it does not load. Don't know if its just me, but that's what happening with me.
PLAYED ON STEAM-DECK
Contrary to the steam page. This game is actually playable on Steam Deck, Single player runs great, 4+ hours guaranteed on OLED models. However this isn't the definitive way to play this game.
PROS:
+GTA 5 itself is a good game
+Graphics are updated so if you play on a beefy computer, the game is guaranteed to look good (Not great like modded but still good)
+GTA Online content previously exclusive to PS5/Xbox Series X consoles is now on PC which includes free roam animals and extra cars.
CONS:
-Mandatory battle eye anti cheat which is really invasive and you need to install it if you ever plan to play GTA Online
-Mandatory third party account requirement (Social club to be specific) IN A SINGLEPLAYER game
-Mandatory periodic internet requirement to check the validity of the game license (Requires internet for singleplayer)
-Due to battleeye requirement, GTA online is now unplayable on Linux so you are essentially forced to use Windows to play the game
-Rockstar game launcher is required because apparently the game can't run without yet another bloatware.
-GTA Online in this version of the game is heavily castrated as they removed global chat which was the only good thing about playing this game on PC. Guess it was cheaper than hiring moderators to monitor the ingame chat
-Character transfer is random as people who hacked could transfer it meanwhile people who were harassed by modders dropping moneybags got denied so they were forced to start fresh or stay on original version of this game
TLDR:This game version sucks and I only got it for free because I had the original version. I'll still play it for the singleplayer on steam deck but I'd stick with console version which doesn't require social club, internet to check the validity of my game license and literal spyware just so I can play online and get murdered by a modder who got accepted or a kid who stole his mom's credit card and bought shark cards using his college funds. Play this game on console or use emulated PS3 version if you want the authentic singleplayer 2013 experience. Both are marginably better than PC version. Unfortunately for us handheld gaming fans, this is the only way to enjoy GTA 5 portably. All hope lies on Switch getting GTA 5 port
still old ass GTA5 with raytracing, slower load times, no text chat and shittier online
the most unforgivable thing is that the strippers still have PS3 boobs texture from 2013, so sad!
Playing Grand Theft Auto V for over eight years has never felt dull, especially with the help of mods that breathe new life into the game, expanding and enhancing the experience far beyond its original scope. The singleplayer world becomes more immersive and replayable, offering endless fun through creativity and community driven content. On the flip side, GTA Online has unfortunately become a playground for cheaters, often making the experience frustrating and unbalanced. For a more enjoyable and stable multiplayer experience, I highly recommend exploring FiveM roleplay communities a much more controlled, player-friendly environment outside of Rockstar’s servers.

I don't care about multiplayer, but the game now requires the installation of an invasive rootkit in order to launch properly. No game should require kernel-level access. I hope Microsoft ends up prohibiting it, at least it would prevent this kind of behaviour from studios...
not bad at all, it runs much better than the legacy version
Can't even play the game. Have been waiting for 4 days, on multiple occasions to get a verification code, never once got it. Called Rockstar and was told to submit a ticket, okay, tried that, also need a verification code to sign into my account to do that, well, guess what, I haven't gotten that either. Now it's telling me I'm unable to receive one. Go fuck yourselves Rockstar, this is an absolute bullshit way to treat your paying customers, I shouldn't have to verify my identity for a game I've owned for YEARS. Once, again, go fuck yourselves. If I could give this 2+ thumbs down, I would in a heart beat, oh, did I mention to go fuck yourselves?
Bad game. Rockstar sucks, thanks for 12 years of the same mediocre online experience.

Exactly the same as the Legacy Version, runs 5% better and the graphics are the same.
They removed Text chat, you have to be online for story mode now and they added a subscription service now.
At last they also added an awful anticheat with does nothing exept to stop linux or steam deck users from playing the game, since it doesnt work for Linux.
Awesome update, Thanks Rockstar
It has a really nice story mode i enjoyed it alot! Most of the time i didn't even know what i did but yeah it's a great story!
Enhanced version runs great, game looks stunning with the added ray tracing. Been playing this game every once in a blue moon since day 1 (2013) very nostalgic revisiting this game in 2025 :)
It is good game and stripers are hot as fuck-
