It's a short, eery psychological walking simulator that takes around 35 minutes to beat. The build-up of atmosphere is good and the way the game indicates something dreadful and plays with the player's mind and expectations, while staying very vague and cryptic, feels unsettling. That part was well done, even though the game maybe turned out a bit short and wasted some potential in the end. Maybe there could have been more to discover/examine in terms of paintings/artefacts, seeing as it's an ancient location. But that could just be personal preference and is not necessarily a weakness of the game.
Spooky, short little game that left me with a lot of questions! Bout 30 mins to complete, eerie atmosphere, and it made me realize I need more cave horror games.
One thing to note if you play on a wide screen monitor like me: The game resolution aligns to the left, and stops just past half way where, on the right, you'll see the battery icon. It was a bit awkward to play watching only half my screen basically, but I ignored it and just kept going. Can't change the resolution to fit 3440x1440! Can't wait to see more games from these devs ^_^
It's an okay game for the price. Very short, less than an hour. The big "scare" at the end should require much more build up. Recommending because it was interesting at times, was super cheap, and has lots of opportunities to improve and expand.
A short but decent horror game set in an underground cave system. Definitely has atmosphere without the need for jump-scares, as well as good visuals. The only part I wasn't so keen on was the red cave with the rope bridges and letter puzzle. The premise of the puzzle is fine, I think it'd just be better if the character's movement speed is a little faster, otherwise it feels like it slows the pacing a bit. But other than that, Kavernum is worth trying!
EDIT: just adding this in 11/02/2025 to correct something in my review. The dev has since let me know that the reason my movement speed was slow on the rope bridge section was due to the crouch being toggled because of the preceding section. I didn't realise this at the time and thus thought the POV was meant to be like that. So perhaps ignore my one minor criticism!

Not bad. I'm looking forward for other games of this dev
This game wouldve been good if something actually happened...But i guess its a walking simulator so if thats what you're looking for, thats what you're gonna get
I thought that this game was good, and had a great atmosphere. The game looks great, runs great, and I experienced no bugs. The only big issue I had with it was the "bridge" part took a little too long just due to the walking speed, even when I knew what I had to do it took around 5 - 10 minutes of just walking in the same area. The game is a little short, and I wish there was a few more horror elements added in throughout, but still a good game for the cheap price.

Kavernum is essentially what I'd call a walking simulator, at night, in a cave. There's a bit of spooky vibes going on, but there's really nothing terrifying or especially scary about the game. Mostly because at one point you pick up these wooden barriers that are like... Maybe 70 lbs? And you toss them like you're some kind of melodramatic Hulk.
Anyway, the game takes about 30 minutes or so to finish and it's atmospheric horror where the most horrific things are what you are imagining as the player. The sense of dread is real, and there are some portions that feel pretty claustrophobic. I can't say I was ever really scared, but I don't scare easy. I had a ton of fun though. Very recommended.
It had me on the edge, the whole time, great sound & atmosphere. recommend playing just about 20-30 min of gameplay.
here is my Youtube playthrough!
Enjoy
