repetitive crashes after 15 minutes, hope it gets fixed so I can play it

A game completely unafraid to stand out and do its own thing. Weird and wonderful, Romeo is a Deadman blends artstyles and genres.

I love a game that does not take it self to serious. For everyone who wants a slasher game with fun mini games. This is it.

More of a cry for help than a negative review.

Having fun! Only issue is I experienced a game ruining soft lock. Dying to the chapter 4 boss while my last save was in sub space made it so that every time I attempted to leave sub space, the normal space environment wouldn't load. No matter where I attempt to leave from, I'm left falling through the world upon loading in. I have no other saves to go back to.

Send in your strongest bug fixers! I would like to finish the game!

Suda51 makes games for niche weirdos, and I am such a niche weirdo. If you liked NMH or Killer Is Dead, it's an easy recommend. More of that over-the-top batshit insanity that changes the vibe every 10 minutes.

This game is a breath of fresh air in todays market of corporate mediocrity.
We need more original, weird, and strange games like this.

Already past the second boss and I can tell this game is going to be something special. The music, difficulty (currently playing on hard), and overall atmosphere of the game is some of the best grasshopper has done yet.

Will update my review once I'm deeper into the game, but as of now I couldn't be happier.

Grasshopper Manufacture did it again. Excellent style, excellent music, incredibly entertaining writing, and a Hard mode that's actually kinda challenging. Experience and knowledge of previous GhM games not required but absolutely is a plus, there's references and easter eggs aplenty. There's also numerous Gundam references practically bleeding through the screen. First good thing to happen to me this year so far.

If you like action games and unique experiences, you should definitely check a look!

I just started playing the game and within the first 10 minutes, the main character starts talking about how the current president is actually controlled by an AI chip and one of the first enemies you fight is called "White Devil." For context the game seems to take place between 2018/2019.

Only a Grasshopper game could make me feel joy when the framerate starts dropping

Despite relying on nonsensical plot points throughout his storytelling, Suda fans know just how well he can build a character. Travis' character development across the No More Heroes trilogy is hands down one of the best out there, without ever resorting to long/boring cutscenes. His behavior and the situations he goes through alone are master tools on getting the point across. More than ever, handling storytelling this way greatly sets you apart from games that are obsessed with delivering a complex story but aren't creative on the way they do it.

So far, Romeo is a Dead Man is extremely polished and a huge improvement on everything good in previous Suda games. In about half an hour of gameplay, you get to see over four wildly different art styles and superb voice acting, as well as extremely stylish menus and a banger soundtrack.

Settings are broken (DLSS and various other upscalers don't work amongst other things) and performance is terrible even with everything set to the lowest. Was excited even though it was UE5 and Grasshoppper's previous PC ports have all been pretty bad, but hoped it would be different this time. Was done dirty by Wilds last year, now this. RE9 better be smooth as butter. Unfortunately gonna be my first refund, but I'll see if they fix it first or how PS5 performance is.

In this game you go into the world's most normal house and fight a skeleton, and even worse, he's green. This is a load of bones, I didn't want to play this game to see a fucking skeleton coloured green, what is this?

Suda decided his games weren't weird enough and proceeded to make the weirdest video game ever made. Your dead grandpa is on your jacket, you play cooking minigames to gain stat buffs, you grow zombies out of the ground to fight for you and they're called Bastards and as previously mentioned there's a scene where you fight a skeleton in a house. No other video game feels like it's tripping acid as much as Romeo Is A Dead Man. My first hour of playtime was me being incredibly confused before hitting the Mega Man Battle Network hub world and being even more confused.

If you really liked Suda's previous games then this will definitely be up your alley. This is the first time I've actually enjoyed the combat in his works, the range of weapons and tools at your disposal are really fun and varied, and even though this isn't a style oriented hack and slash like DMC or Bayonetta, it's still one that has so many tools that any way to play is the right way. Big fan of how the retry screen is just the game over in reverse, real shitpost energy.

Game is amazing but performance is abysmal. I have a 5090 and have to go to medium settings to even hit 60 fps and it still dips below during cutscenes. Unreal engine 5 is going to be a nightmare for us all

This is Suda51 - The game. You should be familiar with his creative output to truly enjoy this one, for me it's everything i wanted the game to be and more.
Time travel ala Back to the future, classic pixelated adventure gameplay and pong in between, dimenson hopping into a semi-tron dimension, all the glorious violence and comic book cutscenes, a twisted take on Romeo and Juliet as a backdrop but Romeo is working for the space FBI; i could go on.
Its weird, its freaky, its creative, and honestly? There is nothing out there that comes even close.
In the end, it is hard to describe Suda51's games in general, they have to be experienced.
You either love this rollercoaster ride full of crazyness or don't even want to buy a ticket in the first place.
For me personally? Im loving every minute of it.

Suda51 makes Hideo Kojima look sane. The game feels unique, despite being built in Unreal Engine 5. It will teach you how to hit on women with 100% success.

They should have priced the game at $51 instead of $49.99.

Something, something, the president is controlled by AI. Something, something, "White Devil." Something, something, this takes place in 2018/2019. Pretty sweet, tbh. Suda is calling it like he saw it.

This is 100% a Suda51 game, if you're familiar with his work, you will feel right at home. Combat wise it feels like the next iteration of No More Heroes. The story is as weird as everything else Grasshopper Manufacture has done, and the soundtrack goes crazy.

There are some friendly faces from previous Kill the Past games as well. This feels like the perfect culmination of every Suda has been creating over the years.

A Suda game where the protagonist is a latino loverboy subjected to Lovecraftian and devilish horrors. Where he has to either save or kill the love of his life again. Where have we heard that one before? This game is a mixture of every single suda game from killer 7 all the way to the no more heroes franchise. it is absolutely peak and highly suggest you give this a chance!
