US campaign is limited and predictable but fun; colonies need improvement
I failed the American Dream...
YOU UTTERLY SHAMELESS, CHAUVINISTIC, RACIST AND ANTI-CHINA GAME DEVELOPER!
YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO CLAIM MY HOMELAND BELONGS TO INDIA, SOUTH KOREA, VIETNAM, TURKEY, PHILIPPINES, OUTER MONGOLIA!
NOT A SHRED OF DECENCY ALLOWS YOU TO CLAIM TERRITORIES THAT RIGHTFULLY BELONG TO CHINA - WHETHER IT'S THE SACRED LANDS OF TIBET, THE PEARL ISLANDS OF THE SOUTH CHINA SEA, OR ANY INCH OF OUR ANCESTRAL DOMAIN!
YOUR COLONIAL-ERA MENTALITY HAS NO PLACE IN THE 21ST CENTURY!
great
The Digital Extreme Edition Upgrade Pack comes with a lot of DLC. Some of the DLC in that upgrade pack don't have their own store pages. Except for this one, American Dream which both comes with the free Digital Extreme Edition Upgrade Pack and by itself, still free. Its a lil confusing I know, Paradox's DLC stuff is always weird. So what does the American Dream DLC do? It tries to enhance your USA gameplay. Unit models, events and event pictures.
+Free.
+Does its best to make USA more interesting to play.
-Why would you play the USA? Thats like end game nation dude, the entire fun part is being able to start the game from the very beginning in the 1400s and advance your nation all the way to the end of the game. Why would you just start the game near the end date and choose a late game nation?
-Why would you play in America when Europe is so much more fun during this time period? Even Asia is more interesting. If you're gonna hang out in the American continent why go for late game nation and only play for a lil bit before you reach the end date of the game? Why not just start from the beginning date and choose a more interesting country that you can lead through the centuries something like the Aztecs maybe?
Its definitely not a DLC for me but it is a free DLC. Can't go wrong with free goodies.
The mod Land of the Free has 10 times the content of this mod. Go play that instead of this.
I swear i dont have demetia, but when did i buy this
We’ve been trying to reach you about your car’s extended warranty
American DLC. Did not include Big Mac. disappointed. 1/10
i uhh also don't remember buying this..
Huh
Unless you're playing as the United States in the 1776 start date or playing as a released colonial nation, there is really no point in getting this.
This shouldn't be DLC, it belongs in the main game.
This is perhaps the greatest DLC for EU4, and for the amount of hours i have played this DLC has by FAR impacted my gaming experiance the most. I am a player who hates the continent of europe so i always try to colonise and release myself into the freedom of america, and with the republic mechanics and unique events and units i always feel vastly rewarded for the experiance.
I often imagine myself as a yankee in the lush forests of virginia, investing in tax and infastructure to ensure all my citizens receive their freedom dividend.
God bless Texas and the United Confederate States of America.
I feel stupid thinking this what allow me to do what conquest of Paradise allows you do to
Paradox DLC is like a papercut. The more you purchase the more it hurts.
When I try to load in all the native american tribes are still there I've tried multipale times and it's getting really annyoing thinking that I spent all this money for nothing
When it comes crashing down, and it hurts inside,
ya' gotta take a stand, it don't help to hide,
Well, you hurt my friends, and you hurt my pride,
I gotta be a man; I can't let it slide,
I am a real American, Fight for the rights of every man,
I am a real American, fight for what's right, fight for your life!
I feel strong about right and wrong,
And I don't take trouble for very long,
I got something deep inside of me, and courage is the thing that keeps us free,
I am a real American, Fight for the rights of every man,
I am a real American, fight for what's right, fight for your life!
Well you hurt my friends, and you hurt my pride,
I gotta be a man; I can't let it slide,
I am a real American, Fight for the rights of every man,
I am a real American, fight for what's right, fight for your life!
I am a real American, Fight for the rights of every man,
I am a real American, fight for what's right, fight for your life!
Summary of this DLC
The DLC gives your game an exapnsion of the Thirteen Colonies, in which are able to revolt against the British and their rule, and to become a new nation: USA. In addition, more mechanics of the North America tribes (which aren't mentioned because of the point of this DLC) with a bumped-up manpower, and have the option to play as USA when you let the Thirteen Colonies set free from [your] rule.
Pros
It gives the game of Europa Universalis IV more interesting, and in some reviews, some mods are better with this expansion pack. The mechanis in the USA are altered than the USA without the American Dream DLC, and some of which are the events are harder to trigger, both effective and affective, and the manpower of USA is increased by .5%.
With the Workshop being included into Europa Universalis IV, the DLC is compatiable with any other DLC and vice versa, and the American Dream can be altered, both via worshop and via file editing, which is why in my opinion, is one of my favorite DLC Paradox released for Europa Universalis IV.
Cons
It only gives the event for USA to be released, and it can be improved along with the mechanics of USA itself, such as modifying the USA's strengths to be higher to some extent. Not only it has Over-Powered rebels, it also has quite too much of rebels trying to free USA to become independent.
Other than the Cons, this game is great.
After being a long time fan of this series, I am dissapointed in the new direction they are taking with this product. The goal now, is to simply monetize every single aspect of this game, and make it unplayable unless you buy all the DLCs... This is unnaceptable Paradox.
For example, they patched the core 'vanilla' version of EU IV, to add a 'region development level' feature to the game. However, you cannot actually raise the development level of a region, unless you buy another dlc called "Common Sense"... Really!?! Why are you forcing this feature onto the vanilla version, if you need a dlc to fully play it? Pardon the pun, but it makes no sense.
Paradox is essentially going back, and making a game you bought in the past, unplayable. It's sad how how patches meant to fix bugs, and add positive features to a game, is now purposefully breaking it so you have to pay more money to fix it.
To quote Game of Thrones, SHAME!
Since US is so limited in timescale its content isnt great
However if your feeling particularly like a proud patriotic american then it does make the US a far more interesting campaign, albeit predictable
Honestly it shouldve been an update to make colonies a more viable play
I wil put my review this way, I never noticed a difference in play with it. Maybe if I played the U.S. a lot I would have, but honestly I did not even know I owned it until I looked at buying it.
Not really worth it mostly because in the slowest mode without pausing you get about an 3 hours worth of gametime as the USA because it exists only near the end of the game USA Free 1776 game ends 1814-1815
It adds plenty of fun events and missions for the USA which makes for a pretty cool playthrough. If it goes on sale, buy for sure!
Doesn't have much more entertainment to the game but if you play as the U.S a lot might be worth buying.
Used to be an alright dlc, but was broken since the first expansion for EU4 came out. Not worth it!
