It doesn't quite hold a candle to the original Sega Genesis/Super Nintendo Rocket Knight Adventures games, but that doesn't mean it's bad. At least someone from Konami cared to bring our beloved rocketpack wearing opossum back :)
This does not feel like a triple A game for the price point. Quite average and graphics are terrible. Controls are slow and delayed.
I wouldn't recommend this even for kids.
This version of Rocket Knight is not too difficult but also at times not too easy! I enjoyed playing it but it can take only a few hours to beat. 9/10
This is a fun game that reminds me of Crash Bandicoot. Unfortunately, it doesn't have subtitles in the cutscenes, but it's still a fun game.
+ Last game of the franchise timeline and not included on Re-Sparked Collection)
+ Short and moderate difficulty
+ Fast pacing
+ Colorfull but not eyesoring
- Sound cheap due to low SFX, VFX and sometimes choppy animation
- One boss and one achievement are a drastically harder than the rest of them
- The first run of the game shows a setup that ends in try and error to you fix it (On SteamDeck it will end with black bars on the border)
If you want a generic PSN or PSP game, go for it.
For fans of the franchise it's a "OK" game.
I did like the game, on level 3 the difficulty start to increase but still fun..
Sadly i will have to stop playing it because i feel sick after a while when i play it, idk why, i will see a walkthrough to know the full experience.
If you dont feel sick by playing it, its a good game, but i have to downvote
I like the franchise, sooner or later i will have the other games on steam, i got those phisical on sega genesis.
I have some nostalgia playing this game on the PS3 from way back in the day. It was as fun as I remembered. It's very short and some of the bosses are a bit tedious (looking at you Wolf King). However, all in all it is a very fun romp that is more than worth the $2.99 it is going for right now. Not sure I would pay full price for this one though.
It's a decent game that overstays its welcome if you try to 100% it. The music is excellent, the graphics and overall presentation are good. The game play seems awesome at first, but if you play on the harder difficulties you will inevitably get annoyed by some of the design choices- the worst being that using the sword usually gets you damaged because the enemies that don't die in one hit don't have any knockback.
It's cool that this appears to be its own standalone entry instead of a remake of the original games. The game worlds are pretty cool. You can dash attack, slide down bars and spin to attack enemies from all directions. About 1/5th of the stages are flying stages where the screen is scrolling and you are just shooting at things.
Unfortunately half my play time was just fighting one single boss- the boss at the end of world 3 is insanely cheap and frustrating and annoyed me to no end. It's basically designed so that you have to rely on random probability to win on hard difficulty. For some bizarre reason the bosses on hard difficulty just take an insane number of hits to go down. If you beat the game on hard you will unlock "Gold Sparkster" mode which is just hard mode but you have half the health. I think two times through was enough for this game- going through it three times was just overkill. It's worth playing, but now that I've completed it I'm so sick of it due to the irritating third world boss that I'll never play it again.
It doesn't work. Very early into the game it just crashes. I bought it years ago and tried playing it on at least 10 different laptops.
The Good: The Napoleon-ass looking pig from the original got promoted to final boss.
The Bad: Everything about the game is bland, ugly, forgettable and an insult to Rocket Knight Adventures on Sega Genesis.
The Ugly: The Princess. Looks like she belongs in a dumpster, along with the rest of this disgraceful game. In the end, Bubsy got the better reboot.
Incredibly underrated platformer.
Wow! Absolutely recommend, worth every penny. I grew up Playing Rocket Knight Adventures as a kid, and when I saw they released this sequel to Sparkster in 2010 I had to try it! It's just about everything I'd hop for in a modern RKA game! Very fun, snappy controls. Nice graphics and music, a mixture of platforming and shoot em up. They did a great job paying tribute to the first game and fixing changes that were implemented in Sparkster RKA 2 that didn't work as well for the series. I recommend playing with a controller, it worked excellently. There was one glitch I experienced where the first Axel boss fight is too easy, after a bit of the fight he gets stuck on one of the walls and you can just wack em till the fight is over. Aside from that glitch it was pretty seamless. No very hard mode, which is a bummer. That would of been nice. It is cool that this game has achievements. Always love that. It is short and sweet as you would expect from a RKA game. Would love to see this ported physically to Switch or PS5 with improvements and fixes! That would be awesome.
you may take away an amazing score, intuitive gameplay, and even make the flight feel dull, but nerf the rocket? i cannot forgive. also why is axel red?
