HITMAN World of Assassination

I reinstalled the game after seeing "Le Chiffre Elusive Target Trailer" at summer game fest.
Arcade mode still lock you out of the mission for 12h after a fail.

How do modern devs come up with the most unfun way to play a game? I just want to explore all possible ways to eliminate Le Chiffre at my own pace. I don't want your stupid mode for sweaty players, give us an option to replay failed elusive target without cooldown.

Good game? Yes
Good hitman game? Yes
Good progression? No
Unlocks? Online only for a single player game

Come for the story (when on sale) and play with one of those mods that unlock everything so you can actually enjoy what the game has to offer.

I have hundreds of hours on this on my PS4. But having to restart the progression broke me. It's insane the hoops you have to go through to actually have a sandbox experience that isn't forced railroading.

Too much to ask for a straightforward way to just fucking play a game? "Free starter pack"? Why? What is that?
Game looks so cool but I'm immediately turned off by the seemingly intentionally confusing UI. Fucking lame.

Update: Started the game back up after cooling down..I really wanted to try the Le Chiffre 007 mission. I powered through my frustration only to discover it's an "Elusive Target" mission, meaning you can only try once. Boo, fuck this.

Do Not Buy unless you want to pretty much get scammed. This game makes it so confusing on what to buy or what DLCs you need that its pretty much just BS. Even the upgrade pack it tells you to get wont even pull up on steam. how this is allowed who knows. Game is awesome but the company is dog $hit. Hopefully they fix it

Beware when buying this game, You are buying PARTS of the game and if you want to complete the entire campaign you will have to deal w/ convoluted DLC packs. Broken into 3 seprate DLC's you will be googling which one to buy so you dont purchase unnecessary DLC ( probably IO's intention ). Horrible monetization schemes, unclear steam page, conflicting information on purchases, changing names of products and DLCs on sales to scam customers into buying their games.

This is possibly the worst purchasing experience I ever had on Steam.

Unfortunately I have to give a negative review solely based on the fact that content has been removed from availablity of acquisition.

I am truly anti fomo it actually causes me to rage quit instead of dancing to their tune.

A game is a scam, they punish you for buying their old games, and yet they ask you for more, even though you own the old games, they want you to buy it again, just so you can play it again... Like make this shit make sense, i own all of their games, yet they want me to buy it again?!

The game's title and depicted photos are on purpose misleading and made to trick you into buying it.

This is ONLY Hitman 1.

Despite the photos, if you want Hitman 2 and Hitman 3 missions you need to buy them separately.

Shame on STEAM for even allowing this kind of shady tactics and advertising to their platform.

One of the best games i’ve ever played. The amount of content and detail in each and every mission is incredible. I’ll never not get hyped in the mission briefings too. Masterpiece 10/10

Only 2 things wrong with the game:
- Colorado. (Note: This is a joke, but it indeed is my least favorite map in the main game.)
- IOI obfuscating the steam store page to confuse people into buying the wrong thing. To play the full game, get at least the standard one ("HITMAN World of Assassination" as of writing this review), or get the Deluxe Version . The Deluxe Pack contains the Seven Deadly Sins DLC, which has been quite negatively received by the community.

For people looking into speed-running the game: The always-online requirements can be mitigated if you use an IOI server emulator (such as Peacock). (This also removes part of the grind for mastery levels, and has support for auto-split-times.)

In this game you have to think before you act, otherwise it will be very difficult. As far as the graphics are concerned, this is an excellent game in which we can dress up in other people's clothes and hide in cupboards and chests. There are many ways to eliminate targets, including simply shooting them, creating accidents or poisoning them. But the way the game is sold is unpleasant.

Bro this would be such a great game if it had better devs like when I buy something I want to get the game not get the tutorial and one extra mission. And dlcs are okay in moderation but this game IS just dlcs. For that it is a waste of money and potential. Do better devs...

Dont buy anything besides ' HITMAN World of Assassination Deluxe Edition'. You can NO LONGER UPGRADE FROM OTHER VERSIONS, the links in game are dead links on steam. DO NOT BUY ANY OTHER VERSION OR YOU ARE FORCED TO WASTE YOUR MONEY. i was going to upgrade if I enjoyed it, but now i spent 10$ to test run the game, and if the edition is not on sale i have to pay 100$ to play the whole game.

I really don't understand why the DLC needs to be so convoluted... they don't care if people understand how to spend money on the game?

I love watching targets die in the most comedic ways, especially involving exploding golfballs. 10/10 a must-play!

THIS IS THE WORST MOST CONFUSING PURCHASE SCHEME EVER CONCEIVED

All 3 games are finally unified into one World Of Assassination package - so simple and elegant. Now let's chop it up into parts, sprinkle separate DLCs on top, and sell it all in bits and pieces with a confusing and obtuse naming scheme. Am I buying a videogame, or trying to fill out a tax form?

It pains me to leave a negative review because the game itself is amazing and damn near perfect. I played this series for 100s of hours and will probably play more. I will gladly change my review to positive once this pricing monstrosity gets simplified.

What the hell is with this buying scheme? First level and first part on sale. There is a Deluxe version, a deluxe pack, and a deluxe upgrade (not listed, you have to find a link to it /after/ you buy part one, if you don't buy it all at once)
Then a bunch of DLC and I think its all in the deluxe edition but not the deluxe upgrade or the deluxe pack.
So. Then they put other parts of it on sale, but its still not all on sale? I don't know.

I bought part 1 on sale, then a upgrade that was /also/ on sale. Now I have just the base hitman world of assassination, even though it was labeled as a deluxe upgrade, or whatever. So if I want all the content I still don't have after 'upgrading' to the 'deluxe' I have to still buy the Deluxe Pack, the Celebrity bundle, and I /think/ I have to buy Sarajevo Six? Which is partially on sale but some of it isn't, so I guess I'd also have to wait for another round of sales?

I like the game but I can't recommend this when I'm still trying to figure out how to buy everything when they do tiers of sales and hide things. And oh, I see the 'all in one' is now on sale, after a week of them leaving it off the sale, and now its past its two hours (since a single level can take almost a hour if your being thorough so you are out of the refund level before you get out of tutorials) refund window.

Don't make my mistake. Just don't try to buy this mess, which is a shame, its a damn good game ruined by how hard it is to know if you've got all the content you'd want to play.

Edit : Its still confusing. I still haven't got all the content, as it keeps going on sale in batches. A bundle here, then a different part the next week, etc. I do think I made a mistake, I don't think the upgrade pack is a 'deluxe' but just a 'base' upgrade. But its still hidden, and needed me to dig through multiple threads to find a link and get 2&3 without rebuying the entire thing.

If the 'World of Assassination Deluxe Edition' that is normally 99.99 is on sale I would get that and only that version. Its a good game, I really am enjoying it. But I will not change it to a thumbs up because they have a history of being predatory in how they are selling this game and seem to be making it more predatory again, after having tried to make it easier and less predatory in the past. So, way to mess up and backslide I guess?

TL;DR Its a good game but the way they sell it, and the way they set up their sales to stagger parts of it, is extremely predatory and confusing. I should not need to study and dig for external links to parts of the package not shown on the store page to try and get a 'full' experience and a guide just to know if I'm actually getting all the content or not.

Update : They have added more pieces and tiers. Sapienza is now stand alone and being offered for free. Already seeing all kinds of confusion on if its the game, the level, just part one, etc. It is just the level.
Also, still waiting on the few parts that haven't gone on sale yet. Have everything, except the two maps from the deluxe content which is the ONLY content that didn't cycle through going on sale. Everything else did, but that content remained completely undiscounted, of course.
Still can't recommend the game, especially if they are going to keep making it harder for people to know and get the full content without accidentally overpaying.
I also now notice that they removed a piece of content but left it in the game. Its a real minor inconvenience of an annoyance, but you can't 100% the game because that content is tied to the in game achievement system. So now that it will never be available the game can not be 100%. Minor, doesn't matter to most, but I know things like that will matter to some more then others.

This is a PAY TO Play Game! Meaning, that even though you just bought this game for 0.99, or whatever it will cost you, it doesn't allow you to enjoy this game, only training and one other mission. you want anything else, you need to payup.

I downvoted this because I think that the marketing for this is very confusing and perhaps deceptive. What you are getting or not getting really isn't all that clear at the outset, especially if you're buying the game on sale as I did. If you're buying it on sale you're probably only getting about 1/3 of the content which makes it less of a bargain IMHO. Additionally, once you've done so there's no clear path to buying or unlocking the other 2/3 of the content without buying a version of the whole game (standard or deluxe) all over again.

If you think the limited content will be worth whatever price you're looking at, by all means, have at it.

Do not buy this unless you can buy all dlcs, bcs game only gave one mission with this game, I didn't know first so i played more than one hour so i can't refund it😥

A very well made game about a bald guy knocking people out with hammers, 10/10 its one of the best games in the internet

The store page is purposely made super confusing so that you end up accidentally buying more that you need.
I should not need to do research to understand which edition do I need to buy.
Also, I already have Hitman 2 in my Steam library, but I can't play it through this, and it tells me that I need to buy it. Wow.

BLUF: Hitman World of Assassination is a top-tier stealth game with an insane amount of content, but a couple of specific drawbacks.

The bad:
IOI has made purchasing this game a confusing process. To keep it simple, if you want the entire game, purchase "Hitman World of Assassination Deluxe Edition". All other versions are missing important content.
To progress in this game, complete challenges, and unlock new items, you have to be online. There is an offline mode, but it is severely limited. I always thought this was a weird choice given that this is a single player game, but that is how it is.

The good:
Basically everything else. Buying the game now (the complete game that is, see above) means that you get, in effect, three entire games worth of content, as it includes all the levels from Hitman and Hitman 2. Every level gives you fun and creative ways to eliminate your targets, and they reward you for playing through multiple times and trying different approaches. This is the best stealth game I have played in recent memory.

the DLC packs are so unclear as to what you are getting, despite buying an upgrade pack it does not unlock the levels in game, this is a borderline scam

This is the real assasin simulator, i have played more than 150 hours and i can say it is beautiful and really a great experience, every time i play it is different somehow and that replayability makes it on of the best games i have played, i trully need the next hitman game.

basically the dark souls of metal gear solid where you play as northernlion in an alternate reality and he's a sociopath instead of a streamer. 10/10

was pretty good, until it locked you out and makes you pay 60$ on top of the 10$ to get more "episodes". if you don't, have fun playing the same 2 missions

Steam page is confusing. Get ready to do a bunch of research to make sure you don't buy the wrong game.

Absolutely fantastic gameplay held back by endless bureaucracy and shitty microtransaction spam holding back what could have been one of the best ways to play Hitman.

peak stealth game with a great campaign and a shit ton of extra content and an amazing roguelike mode.
only bad thing about this game is the godawful amount of "versions and editions" that just make it confusing for people trying to buy the damn game.
the only editions that you should be buying is the standard edition and deluxe edition, rest are just scams.

Great game. Endlessly replayable. Sadly the hitman franchise is one of the last stealth franchises still alive. RIP thief, deus ex, splinter cell and metal gear.

Awesome Stealth Puzzle game where the goal is to sneak past multiple levels of NPC Routes to get close enough to your target.

The game is at its best when you have multiple different routes and options on how to eliminate your target and use items found around the map to create a path to your target without being seen.

Its a bit hard to learn at first, but once you understand and learn how NPCs react to your different actions its really easy to predict how they'll act and thus the gameplay feels better than most stealth games.

The game's monetization on steam is atrocious though, make sure if you want the full game that you get the full game and not the mission sapienza or part 1 additions (you can buy upgrade packs if you accidentally get them but I just reccomend getting the whole game on sale if you can). Also, while you *can* play the game offline, all progression and unlocks need constant Online Connection while playing.

Over-all great game, would reccomend!

This game is good however its not fully the best, i had fun for a while but when i bought this i was expecting all of the hitman stories. This is okay but not great or good it gets boring towards the end because you have no more missions.

Now that i have bought the full game i really like it. However being on the first game's paywall can be really frustrating especially when u buy the wrong DLC. I recommend to buy it but to be careful to not buy the wrong DLC.

Great game and lots of fun, with many very creative options for assassinations, you can play the same mission again and again and still have a lot of fun. But IOI, we've got to talk about your store pages, it's like you try and make the worst, and most confusing game page listings for anyone to understand. You shouldn't need a PhD to decode which edition of the game you want.

this is just a launcher for hitman1, 2 and 3 and other side missions, all these you need to buy separately. this launcher only includes the initial, 2-3 training missions. also the while buying the upgrade pack for h1, h2 and h3, the product versions are not very specific, it is not very clear which one to buy or not.

I own both Hitman 1 and Hitman 2, and I purchased Hitman: World of Assassination expecting to have access to all three games (Hitman 1, 2, and 3), as advertised. However, it turns out I can only play content from Hitman 1, while Hitman 2 and 3 are locked behind additional paywalls.

To make matters worse, the game tries to sell me a Hitman 3 DLC, which doesn’t even unlock the full game! This is beyond misleading – it’s outright deceptive. I paid for what was supposed to be a complete package, but instead, I’m being forced to pay even more for content that should already be included.

This is the scam of the century, and I strongly advise others to avoid this game unless IO Interactive fixes this mess. It’s unacceptable to treat loyal players this way, especially those who already own previous games in the series.

Save your money and your time – this is not worth it.

The ultimate Hitman experience, played the hell out of this and it is exactly how you integrate three entries in a series in one game at the same also this is exactly how not to price a game.

Very detailed and fun game. The execution of in-game cutscenes and actions are astonishingly cinematic. Every mission has seemingly limitless methods of assassinating targets. My only complaint is that you get ripped off if you don't commit to buying the deluxe edition.

Still lots of updates with new content. It can be hard to get all the challenges but that is the good part about it. It will keep you occupied for a long time.

I would recommend this game, IF IT ACTUALLY WORKED! Thousands of people, including me, struggle to launch the game because there is the tiniest error SOMEWHERE. It's super frustrating, because my pc can handle this, so it isn't my fault. I think it's lazy programmers who don't wanna fix their game!!

Deceptive Marketing – Don’t Be Fooled!

I’m honestly so frustrated with how this game is marketed. "World of Assassination – Part 1" goes on sale all the time, and everything about it the title, icon, even the store page makes it look like you're getting the full game. The only way you can tell you’re not getting the whole thing is if you scroll all the way down to some tiny details.
After buying it, I realized I only got about 30% of the game, with the rest locked behind DLCs. This isn’t just bad practice; it feels like a straight-up bait-and-switch to get you to buy more after you’ve already paid.
DLC isn’t the issue, but how they hide it is. If you’re thinking of getting this, just know you’re not getting the full game.

The dlcs are a bit scammy and hard to actually know what does it do, but the game itself is amazing, and can be replayed a lots of time. I would recommend it for anybody who likes to hit men in hitman.

This is one of the greatest game series' on the face of the planet. The perfect balance of violence and camp. You can (and should) lose many many hours to this game.
