I am writing a review of this game in its final hours, it is going to get removed in a few hours from every storefront forever.

I just want to say that for the last six years, Forza Horizon 4 gave me the experience no car/racing game ever could. Did I tell you I'm not fond of racing games? But this game is an exception.
Some experience it is, the vista, the rain, the water, the snow, the breeze, autumn, orange leaves, and every time you open this game. It plays you that ever-so-familiar music that you keep listening to non-stop.

It is......A Moment Apart..... A moment apart.

Snagged this before it gets delisted. Unfortunately there's already a few headaches - you may need to delete a .dll file (if you can't get the game to run / it's throwing exceptions after install, google "Forza horizon 4 steam crash issue" and look for a reddit posit with that title. It then loads, but makes me sign in to my Microsoft account / Xbox. So that's fun.

loved this game and probably have at least a couple hundred hours on Xbox, shame to see it go but hey at least every once and a while i can bring it back. no one will read this review but if you do and can still buy it, buy it its one of the most beautiful games ive ever played.

One of the chillest games I've ever played. Coming home after a long day and hopping on FH4 roaming around the roads of Britain while my spotify playlist playing the background was and still is my favorite thing to do.
This game is very very well optimised which isn't an unknown fact. My PC ain't high or even mid-spec'd but I was surprised how well this game looks and runs.
The game is going to be delisted soon so I would recommend to buy this game.

A wonderful game in every sense, it's a pity that they are being withdrawn from sale. Here you are immersed in a beautiful picturesque Britain with changing weather and unrealistically cool cars to choose from. Here you can meet very funny and talented players who are good at everything. Here you can practice from tuning cars to drifting and racing with friends. In this game you feel the whole range of emotions, and I had a very good time in this game. The Era is gone. Goodbye FH4. You will always stay in my heart💗

Unskippable intro that forces you to drive, listen to narrator voices.

impossible to disable audio in settings menu. you either can mute all game sound complitely or forces to listen to everything. all volume bars end with 1 instead of 0. this is satanic design and devs are evil psychopaths.

so you cannot turn off music, narrator voice, any voices, tiire sound, engine sound.
there are no workarounds or mods or deep system settings that lets you turn off specific sounds.

you are forced to listed to wnat woke forza decited to brainwash you with. im getting a refund.

oh, did i mention the forced microsoft account that u need to start the game offline?

overall audio volume after startup commercial logos is too quiet. the startup logo is same volume as pc music player, but once it gets to Start Game screen, volume drops about 40%.

i have maxed out sound system and windows volume, but game is still too quiet.
i tried both passive and active sound systems and 2.1 and 5.1 system and its 100% game fault.

while driving the music changes volume and sides left to rit if u take a corner, steer left or right. its stupid and confusing. and the random voice actors start taking and you cannot mute them. tunnels mute music complitely. event location have forced on spot music when you drive near them.

whoever made audio in this game must be hanged.


you are locked into cutscenes and audioscenes until voice actors are done talking their script.
this happens simply driving my a location. you are thrown into menu screen with voice talking and you cannot do anything. buyng house, navigating menu. anywhere you click u have to wait.

this game is absolutely outrageous waiting torture. ive played forza horizon 5 and know everything already and this game is even worse.

when u change a car or buy a car, everything is slow, riddled with loading waiting time on every click and when u want to drive car, u are again forced to look at cutscene. every time.

Really good game. I had a good few expectations when I first played it as someone whose last Horizon game was FH1. While it might not have the exact same formula as the 1st entry in the series, FH4 definitely stands out in its own way. From the dynamic graphics to actual gameplay, I can say that I am satisfied with this game. Be sure to get it before it gets delisted on Dec 15!

I was enjoying it until it suddenly starts crashing the moment I was about to start Autumn, and has consistently crashed every single time I tried to log in. I had tried all of the possible methods to troubleshoot without bricking my computer to no avail. I am disappointed that a game that is already out for 6 years has no fix to this issue.

Beautiful map, wonderful change of seasons, demanding tracks and so many cars you wouldn't believe it. And when you play everything there is, semi-randomized seasonal content starts with new races, tournaments, online events...

I usually don't like MMOs, but Forza Horizon 4 brought me back to both MMOs and racing games, and I'm loving every moment of it!

The game is set in a beautifully detailed UK, with everything from rolling hills and lush forests to charming villages and the city of Edinburgh. The seasons change is a big thing for me, it refreshes everything and helps with keeping things interesting.

There’s a huge selection of cars to choose from, and I can spend hours just exploring, racing, or cruising around to chill. I really like how the driving feels in this game, it's right in the sweet spot for me, while the simulation aspects are present, there's just enough of the arcade fun (plus you can adjust the settings however you like). The game lets you tweak and mess with so many car settings that I haven't even heard about before, essentially anything to fit your unique style and needs. (Btw AWD is great, fast, responsive car in any condition and is perfect for drift zones, if tuned accordingly. I wouldn't recommend RWD for anything but Drag racing.)

Even though FH5 has a bigger map, it lacks the charm, and diversity of FH4's with its lovely european landmarks. Of course there are imperfections such as various glitches, bugs and server issues, but it doesnt outweight the soul, the atmosphere and the fun aspects of the game!! A must have!!

To sum it up - Forza Horizon 4 is a must-play for ANY racing fan, but especially for those who like MMO's and Sandboxes where they can just chill and explore on their own pace and do the stuff!

About to be delisted, but it will remain playable and even the multiplayer servers will stay on for a good while longer. And yes, I intend to put at least another 1000 hours into it.
I don't even like racing games -- I always want to like them, but there have been very few that actually clicked with me and the last one was almost thirty years ago; until this one. It's not really a racing game. It's an open world car collectathon where you can do pretty much whatever you want, as long as it's with your car. Paint it. Tune it. Drive around properly. Drive around improperly and wreck everything. Take really cool photos. And I guess you can also race it, yeah.

It is honestly one of the best racing games I’ve ever played. The driving feels amazing, the cars are gorgeous, and the open-world map is just so fun to explore. Even though my PC gave me trouble with crashes and performance issues, I still had a great time with it. It’s the kind of game that’s fun no matter how you play; whether you’re going full speed in a supercar or just cruising around. I couldn’t enjoy it at its peak performance, but even then, it was still an awesome experience. Definitely recommend getting it and giving it a shot before it gets removed from the store.

Get ultimate ed this autumn sale, almost all the seasonal cars from the season pass have been added to base game so u don't have to worry about fomo.

As for the game itself, it's amazing. Better than need for speed series and a good nostalgic replacement for the newer NFS flops! Crossover content like Top Gear races and Barn Finders reality TV, HALO, Crazy Taxi will still be in the game once game is no longer on sale. Driving physics is better than NFS, and tweaking stuff like drive train, differential gearing, etc, do matter alot if u wanna switch the difficulty up for a chellenge.

Coop also features live events a few times an hour, really fun in 60 player coop sessions. Auction house will be around still, for player trading.

In front of you is a beautiful love letter to the British countryside, featuring rolling hills, quaint villages, and enough rain to drown a small country. It’s a game where you can buy a $10 million hypercar, slap a ridiculous paint job on it, and then promptly crash it into a stone wall because you were too busy admiring the photorealistic sheep.

Without further ado, it’s an incredible game - if you’ve ever dreamed of being a millionaire, which can afford any car he want, with a questionable sense of direction and a fondness for hitting fences ;)

Honestly If you wanted to 100% Horizon 4 achievements. You should’ve purchased it way before August 22, 2024. Now that the Festival Playlist have been removed, there’s a handful of unobtainable achievements you can obtain legitimately. Besides that, you’ll also be missing the hot wheels car pack, even if you purchase the ultimate edition. Among the list of unobtainable cars is the Final Fantasy 15 Quartz Regalia promo car.

While evidently you’ll never be able to 100% Fora Horizon 4 at this point. It shouldn’t deter anyone from purchasing it, before it ultimately gets delisted from digital store fronts on December 15,2024. Thankfully, the game will still be playable after the delisting.

I personally treat Horizon 4 as a complimentary single-player game to Forza Horizon 5. Since the Horizon 4 ranked multiplayer modes take so long to load, which probably will never get fixed at this point. But I find myself playing Horizon 4 more than I do 5, simply for the following reasons:

• Better map (actual seasonal rotations).
  
• Better music.
  
• Better Expansions.
  
• No more monthly FOMO aspects.

If this go on sale again, grab the Ultimate version, it will be worth it. Quite possibly the best racing game I've played in the last 20 years but after 578 hours...am still not 100% sure...let me check again brb

   Graphics in FH4 are fairly good for a 2018 game. Good car detalisation, beautiful landscapes, little things like weather changes and weather conditions overall - everything is at a solid, if not high level. But the fact is that the game has some optimisation issues. Starting with game crashes and ending with connection issues and unstable FPS, in my opinion, such things should have been already fixed by now.
   

2. Gameplay

   
   This game is a ‘’entertain yourself‘’ game. You can turn the game into the most arcade racing game for an absolute beginner or turn it into something like a light/medium car simulator. No main story, different types of races, different cars, season changes each week (a good aspect of the game that gives a bit of diversity), a pleasant map of Edinburgh and its region make a good impression while playing. The physics of cars is decent. Sometimes it may not seem realistic, especially on cars that are not suitable for racing, but mostly the developers have maintained good physics of cars and the environment. Everything may seem good enough to actually love this game. The only problem is online. For me, most of the online sessions were pretty good, but there are still moments with long waits to find opponents or just some events that are boring. This exists in most similar games, but it is still there.

Sound design


Compared to the FH5, the FH4 has a worse sound. I don't mean that it's bad, it's just that when I first started FH4 and played for the first two hours, I always thought FH5 had better sound. However, this is some of the best sound work I've ever experienced in a racing game. The new sounds in FH5 just have more depth, whereas in FH4 it seems more robotic.

One of the best games I’ve ever played. The Eliminator gamemode is incredibly fun, though it would benefit from additional features like a spectate mode and the ability to team up with friends, which would add even more depth to the experience.

Excellent Arcade Racer. It's basically the same game as Forza Horizon 5, with a slightly worse menu UI, but, for me, a more appealing and familiar setting in the UK.

Graphics are very good, and occasionally spectacular, even after a few years since it came out.

I bought this game in a Steam sale at a significant discount, and was well worth the price.

I have many car racing games. The graphics in this game are extremely good. Best graphics out of all the games I have for racing. It is a bit of an arcade style game but lots of great racing etc. Lots of cars. Lots of challenges. Overall one of the very best car games out there.

multiplayer is literally unplayable. waited 10 minutes to start a race.

and don't get me started about the race always being offroad even though more people want to do road or street race
