This Add-On features a number of innovations that are sure to delight fans of this train; including controllable wing mirrors, variable speed windscreen wipers, driver-operated destination display system, and working brake indicators on the cab exterior.
The SBB RABe 523 is an electric multiple unit that belongs to the family of FLIRT trains. The FLIRT train sets are equipped with low floor entrances and air suspension and known for their fast acceleration and high braking power, as well as their low weight.
The abbreviation FLIRT stands for Fast Light Intercity and Regional Train (German: Flinker Leichter Intercity- und Regional-Triebzug). Used for regional and local passenger services, they were originally developed for the Swiss Federal Railways, but due to its success, many other operators around the globe ordered versions too.
The Swiss versions are four-car versions, with two cab cars and two middle cars per train. Only the two Jacobs bogies at the both ends of each train are powered. They feature 20 first class seats and 161 second class seats.

It is surprisingly bad.
Flat sounds - main switch cut off sound is of the very vanilla BR101's straight from 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -, lame physics, quite unusable brakes, uncomfortable cabview, very basic functionality.
I have IRL driving experiences with Flirt - OK, with the hungarian one so there could be differencies - but this is utterly undriveable.
The Flirts are basically big trams with very smooth dynamic brake - this is not. This is an unstoppable whale. Using only dynamic brake to stop is an impossible mission, you will overshoot the platform by kilometres. Well then, use air brake...oh, it combined with dynamic one...but why it is kicking? Bang bang bang, one kick e-brake, and another and another. Horrible.
Usually I am a mute refunder, but not now (not mute but still a refunder). This is one of the worse addon I ever bought. It is almost on the same level than the vanilla monsters. Do not buy it.

I own Rivet Games' Lake Constance route, that comes with a SBB 526, and I bought this 523, thinking that as it was a dedicated train addon, it would offer more than the 526 that comes with Lake Constance. It doesn't. It's the usual Rivet Games jerky, unconvincing train physics and terrible sounds. If you have Lake Constance, certainly don't waste your money on this train, as it's almost a carbon copy of the 526 that comes with it. For Gotthardbahn, well, I suppose this adds something new, but it's very unexceptional and the sound is below par.
Just one word, superb !
I'm a big fan of the Swiss Federal Railways and I must admit that taking control of this beauty is very very nice !I hope to see more routes on the workshop maybe one day because I just want to drive it more. Textures are great, sound design is great, and everything seems pretty real, I've once (before CoViD-19) took it everyday to go to work and I was pretty impressed by the immersion. It seems real ! Totally recommend
